MacOS requires me to buy an overpriced piece of hardware. Not an option.
Windows 10 has ads, spyware, malware, and forced updates.
All previous versions of Windows have the same flaws minus forced updates, because there are no updates, and lack support.
GNU/Linux might be ""customizable"" and doesn't include a botnet, but total design inconsistency makes everything unnecessarily harder to do.
I just want something free, easy, and either looks nice or allows me to make it look nice. What fucking OS do I get, /g/?
>>61009646
FreeBSD
>MacOS requires me to buy an overpriced piece of hardware.
There are people running mac os on $200 thinkpads, so no
>>61009815
Half of the pajeets on this board still think that's overpriced.

Hi /g/, I need some projector advice. Moving into a new place in ten days and I've always wanted a projector gaming and theater setup. I have $700 for the projector and I'm wondering what's the best option for this price range? I plan on connecting it to an xbox one, if that matters. Also, any advice on screen paint? The room is brightly lit from windows and I'd like to counter that if possible but I'll just get blackout curtains if it can't be helped.
>>61009352
Buy a VR headset
>>61009352
sell the xbox for a better projector, the $700 price range is shit

Did he get Black Devil running it natively or is he just talking about QEMU?

nvidia and amd both working on "cryptomining only" video cards.
wonder how stock out those will be when they get announced?
what is stopping an already multi millionaire crypto miner from ordering everything amd/nvidia can produce for 12 months straight?

They can't buy anything but black market heroin with it.
It has never been easier to cashout your bitcoins.
Only poor nocoiners keep that dumb meme thay crypto is for drugs.

>nvidia and amd both working on "cryptomining only" video cards.
This is a weird concept. Last time I checked they were only marginally cheaper ($10?$20?).
It's weird because anyone who buys those will necessarily forfeit the ability to dump back the video cards into the normal gaming market if the need so arises.

that keyboard looks lower than the x220 keyboard, doesnt it?
I recently got a new (open box) laptop that was supposed to come with a Radeon R7 M340 GPU with 2GB of GDDR3 (that together with the APU make a Radeon R8 M445DX Dual Graphics set up), but testing it out, several programs only detected 1GB or RAM? Am I doing something wrong or is there something wrong with the laptop?
You're a bit of a fucking idiot, it says so right there under memory size.
Perhaps you were looking at gpu clock
>>61008525
1GB of ordinary ram maybe?
the apu graphics might reserve a chunk of normal ram for itself, sounds funny to have two graphics cards in a lappy
>>61008654
That's the problem, GPU-Z is detecting 2 GB but in, for example in GTA 5, it detects only 1 GB, this is dedicated GPU, its 2GB of RAM is not shared with the laptop which is why this is so weird
>>61008665
Like I said before, the R7 340 is supposed to have 2GB of RAM itself, the APU/motherboard itself is DDR4 anyway.
what was web browsing like in 2000?
bags of sand
>>61008164
Pretty much like browsing 4chinks today, except with less annoying captcha mechanism and more spam on the purely programmed phpbb boards that existed back then.

is it safe to enable samba 1.0 again on my pcs so i can access them from my phone?
since i disabled it i cant browse the shares on my phone cause it uses 1.0 i think, im using the asus file manager app, is there any better ones for android that lets you browse samba shares, solid explorer is good but i cant browse shares from it
>>61008020
VIRUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think Amaze does
>>61008057
just checked it, it only allows you to start an ftp server on your phone, no actual network browsing
So, im currently in a process of reading some ui/ux design books. But i cant seems to find one particular topic - programs/apps launching. Like, what is the most efficient way? Okay, on mobile platform there is home screen with it grid. But what about desktops? Old start menu
xp/7
, new fullscreen start with tiles
8.1/10
, or maybe OS X style dock?
a rofi or krunner-like search tool
>>61007958
Launchy provide similiar function, but is it really iefficient? Is it faster to click icon on dock/startmenu or type name of application
Also, good ol desktop icons
if looking up a location based on IP only gives you town level accuracy then how does the website server know where to send the data specifically?
>>61007388
You're confusing geographic location with logical location.
>>>/sqt/
>>61007388
It doesn't. It sends it to the nearest router. Even if the website knew the exact route your packets took, it would also need to know the physical locations of the wires.
