>oh you're a coder, anon?

I have this thing that I ripped out of an event wristband. I am curious in seeing what data lies on the device. It looks like it transmits data through magnets based on the coil.
My question is what kind of hardware should I use to read what data is on the device?

So what's the best Linux distro to install on this? I'm thinking Xubuntu, but what do you think?

tinycore
Arch with xfce
Hey bros, I'm looking to build a 8 Core system based on x99.
What are some good parts to get? Since x99 supports Xeons too, are they recommended or Intel i7 8 core ones?
They need to be something I can get used off eBay. I have RAM and everything just need mobo + cpu.
No ryzen pls, need QuickSync (Intel only).
Is quick sync worth 1000 dollars to you? Why not just buy the x299 chipset and housefire-x for cheaper?
>>61020220
>>61020270
Isn't one of the 8 cores like $389 on the new ones? That one looks yummy...but x299 mobos are like $300 or some shit.
I figured i could get used x99 for cheap!
>>61020286
God damn they're uncanny.
How dumb would it be to apply an epoxy to a headphone jack to prevent it from flexing?
I just had a pair of earbuds break after a year and a half because the circled part wore down and broke where it connects to the solid plastic jack and I think that solidifying it, filling in the gaps to stop it from flexing, should stop this from happening in the future
>>61020194
If you prevent the strain relief from flexing, the cable will just fracture at the base of the strain relief, since it isn't really a strain relief anymore if it can't move.
>>61020194
it's not the flexing, it's the way you treat the cable.
you've likely picked up the device by this cord, knowingly or unknowingly.
the flex bit doesn't make sense as it isn't what connects the cable, and the cable itself is flexible already.
>>61020221
so what do you mean by that, that basically the cable itself would just fray where it connects to the strain relief, rather than the strain relief detaching from the plastic jack portion?
What's /g/`s agreed upon best rootable phone atm?

Mac threads are the best bait threads to troll /g/ because deep down they know that they're right but they can't admit capitalism works

>XFCE

>still awful multi monitor support
>open any built in settings piece such as "window manager tweaks"
> opens on left monitor instead of primary, no matter what
Why is linux so fucking shit at the most BASIC stuff?
Why is it so hard for this to just work?
>>61019833
You didn't install gentoo
>>61019833
XFCE was designed at a time when computers still took up a whole room and processing power was extremely limited
I'd reccomend using a more modern DE
>>61019941
so its just XFCE?
If i Install Ubuntu or something, i would not have multi monitor issues?
It really is just Linux. Given the scope of work, it might be OK to call it RedHat/Linux since RedHat produces almost all of the big packages and programs that everyone else modifies, renames, and repackages.
But It's definitely NOT GNU/Linux since GNU is only a tiny portion of a modern Linux OS. FSF doesn't even fund programmers and just pays their executives huge salaries from all the donations.
Anyway, it's LINUX you fucking autists.
>>61019758
how the fuck do you boot your linux?
>>61019777
whit grub. and how's that relevant? are you shitposting to 4chan right now using a FSF-made & funded browser?
yeah, didn't think so.
>>61019902
Grub is a GNU project, that's probably what that guy was implying.
I'm working on a dual screen laptop inspired by JerryRigEverything's video. I'm making it dual screen cause it's all I need, it uses less battery, and it'll keep my laptop thinner.
I got a piano hinge to make it more uniform, a 1080p ASUS USB screen, and vinyl wrap. The ASUS screen is nice and thin, and it matches my laptops resolution.
I'm going to wrap my laptop and screen to make it look like they belong together.
Not decided on a distro yet. I want something that's compatible with a lot of apps, and an environment looks nice. Got any suggestions?
Using a T530 with a 9 cell battery cause it's all I can afford.
Anyone got a suggestion or want to do the project too?
Also, what what you anons working on?
>>61019561
not killing myself
an environment [that] looks nice
Also, what [are] you anons working on?
Sorry, I'm bad at proofreading
Consensus: don't run anything on the root account..... tfw only half of the programs on linux don't run properly unless on root.
not on my machine
>>61019552
The only program I run as root is sudo
I only have my root account. This way no one can hack me since the root account is already logged in.
I have both CPU and GPU under full load (Folding @ Home)
Are these temperatures safe to maintain for long periods of time?
>>61019361
nope, if you pc is dirt you should clean, although i believe you got a cryptominer.

I just swept it out with canned air a few days ago, and added fresh Arctic Silver to the GPU fan/cooler afterwards
