Christians who are suitably gifted should consider becoming computer scientists: To obey God’s command to subdue (the computational aspects of) His creation; Because God will accept our lives (as computer scientists) as worship; Out of a godly, heartfelt, motivation, such as:

- To acquire (computational) skills by which we can serve others in today’s world,
- For the joy that comes from (computationally) imitating God’s creativity,
- To better know and understand our Creator (by discovering the limits He has placed on computation); and because what we do (as computer scientists) can have eternal significance.

Then tax collectors also came to be baptized and said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?” He said to them, “Collect no more than what is appointed you.” Then the soldiers likewise demanded of him, “And what must we do?” He said to them, “Do no violence to anyone nor accuse any falsely, and be content with your wages.” (Luke 3:12-14)

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:11-13)

>I’ve seen the specs of Vega RX. It needs a damn lot of power. We’re working on it, which is a start so launch is coming closer

>This is the first confirmation that AMD is already sharing details of RX Vega lineup with partners. The launch is coming closer as we are still 5 weeks for RX Vega to arrive. However, there is a very good chance we will be seeing custom designs at launch

Grow up manchild

i know that C is used everywhere, populated by GNU/Linux community, some embedded system programmers still tend to flinch of C++

But we have golang, systems programming language. Syntax is different, but mechanisms are quite similair
> no classes
> no operator overloading
> no templates, default function parameters
> printfs/prints with specifiers, no streams
> pointers

I am not asking why don't we use golang, but is it going to be as fast/faster than C? I know it has GC, so it would be diffucult thing to accomplish, but hey, language is new, its still improved, maintained and maybe some day it will catch up with C. And then we would have:

> built-in concurrency
> slices
> platform independent code (in most cases)
> packaging system
> many web packages

What's your opinion, /g/?

>That 300-375W number is in all likelihood coming from the peak loads the board is designed for. Add to that AMD's notorious practice of buffing up voltage to harvest as many dies as possible at high stock clocks adds into the increased power draw by sizable amounts. Initial cards will be just like the RX 480 launch with power consumption improving later on and people finding even more reductions through undervolting. Keep in mind semicon firms have varying methods how they classy their 'TDPs','TBPs' etc. peak consumption of a chip is typically 1.5x of the respective TDP. Well designed boards are done with margins to ensure it can handle more than the typical TDP, this means close to the 1.5X value. So the average you should expect for the claimed 300W is anywhere around ~200-225W and ~250-275W for the 375W SKU. Initially though due to high voltages AMD will inevitably put on the early batches it will cause the averages to be well close to 275-290W.
