Dear /g/

I am an engineering undergraduate who managed to get into an internship at a good software firm. I have the programming skills and know-how in order to succeed there, but as an engineer by education, I feel like I'm missing a certain level of polish and "etiquette".

What are skills and habits that set a professional software engineer apart from an amateur one. ( version control, development franeworks etc?)

I want to use this information to prepare myself. Thanks!

This in no way answers your question.
But why is Haskell on that image twice while others aren't? Fuck that triggers me.

95% of programmers are sloppy as fuck

They get away with it because management has no clue what they are doing and just sees pretty looking number and coding jargon.

Sure, with enough patience. I dropped my 1090T and bent a load of pins in one corner. Worked good as ever once I finished bending them back.

I'm about to install Linux alongside Windows 7 and reviewing everything before going ahead.

It looks like Windows 7 is reporting that I am using Legacy BIOS. However when I review the specs online, it states it uses UEFI: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-F2A88XN-WIFI-rev-30#ov

What's going on? When I go to install Linux from USB will this cause any problems?

>>
>>61041587
Check your BIOS settings. Is UEFI on there? Usually UEFI boards can run in legacy mode as well
>>
Most motherboards have a legacy BIOS ROM built into the UEFI that you can use to boot older operating systems.

When you installed Windows you were in BIOS mode not UEFI mode. There should not be any real problems but since you seem to be confused I'd recommend using legacy mode for your lunix install too so you don't get confused.
>>
>>61041600
I honestly am confused. Thanks for the explanation.

I'm assuming, depending what distro I choose to install, it should detect that?

I'm gonna buy this bad boy. What do you guys think? Is it ok for its price? Also, I don't have a display port on my motherboard, will it work fine with HDMI? I heard some monitors work not that well when connected through HDMI.

U2515h is a great monitor. Fantastic colors and good pixel density.
HDMI actually works better than display port, using display port this monitor has issues with waking up from sleep. HDMI doesn't have the issue.
>>
>>61041870
Thanks, mate.
>>
>>61041870

Heard the same shit about my U2417H's, turns out both of them have no issues waking up on displayport.

And btw op, I bought mine on the same store, breddy gud, can recommend. One had to go through warranty and the e-mail exchange was a bit slow (but understandable since it was around christmas time), but once I shipped the monitor everything went smooth as butter, only took a few days for them to ship back a replacement monitor.
