If you're too dumb to solve a rather difficult puzzle, it's not for you.

How's your Battlestation holding up?

I live in a double bricked house with central air and a ceiling fan. Come at me, bro.
>>61079573
I got nothing, I live directly below the roof and I have 2 rooflights. I'm fucked.
I taped posters over the window in my office but my PC isn't showing higher temps than normal despite the 100 degree weather outside. What kind of cooling are you running?
To all my ni/g/gas who started at help desk, what was the next position that you held in your career path?
>>61079414
Did 3 years of CS, studied and got a RHCSA, wrote some scripts for other CS to use, ended up becoming a Site Reliability Engineer at that company
After 3 years of endless crappy paying help desk jobs at 2 different companies I opened my own SMB MSP business, a few clients followed (no I did not steal them, been to court for it already).
Life has been good ever since. The first 8 months sucked, but once I found the right talent business went on autopilot pretty much.

famalams, im roughly about a year into this gig and have been looking at different opportunities but i fear that i have no shot with just a A+ and net+ cert. Do you think i can score a junior sys admin role with what i have now?
Can some please help me? I can't post this in worksafe because of it's inappropriate content. This morning, I started getting some really strange YouTube advertisements, like pornography and weird Russian shit. Everytime I open a new tab, I am redirected to this wierd blank page. I don't think I've downloaded anything malicious. Is this because of adblock? Please help me, I am pretty vanilla with computers.
>>61079402
Malware which replaces the ads with theirs to make money
go run malwarebytes or whatever.
>>61079402
you are the target market.
script kiddie here, tryna hack a wifi and I finally got a WPA handshake, but on the window in which I typed "airodump wlp1s0mon", not the window in which I typed a string of format "airodump --bssid %s -c %d --write file wlp1s0mon"
In fact, the latter still has the "fixed channel" bull crap
Is this normal?
Download kali. Windows can't do some wifi adapter things like change mac and inject packets

But seriously, don't follow shitty tutorials on the internet. Always follow the official documentation of the tools you're using. Read throught and try to understand what's written here: https://www.aircrack-ng.org/documentation.html
This is always the first step when using complex software or developing your own. RTFM. If something's not according to the manual or the manual is not clear, then you have something to report.
>>61079418
I can't, the reason I'm "hacking" is because my wifi is incredibly slow obsolete (still uses WEP)
Also, I'm using Arch.

is it true that you can mine shit with these things
It's an ASIC, it's good for bitcoin ONLY. However bitcoin is so difficult to mine now even those are useless.

If you want help:
>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - if you can't afford better or specifically need 8 threads but not a very powerful CPU
>R5 1500x - All you really need for 60fps with power to spare; Don’t get an i5.
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; Get a 1600x if you don't OC
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming.
GPUs:
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>RX 560 and GTX 1050Ti - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games
>RX570 - 1080p@60hz at high, running most maxed older games at 144+hz.
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@60hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; Go for the RX580 if you can.
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@144hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p.
>GTX 1080 Ti - 1440p@144 hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games; You're kind of going overboard with this one.
>AMD GPUs are suffering a lack of stock and Nvidia a rise in price thanks to e-currency miners
RAM
>Check your Mobo QVL before buying any RAM
General:
>ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
>Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
>NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.

What do you do that makes working with technology/IT fun?
I've been working in IT for the last 10 years, mainly user support. I used to be up on the newest technologies and used to toy around with stuff that caught my interest. The last thing I did that I enjoyed was modchipping my original Xbox, so it's been awhile since I tinkered around for the hell of it. It felt like a big accomplishment taking something I didn't know how to do and figure it out; it was fun. Now though, I lack the drive to do anything like the sort. I tried my hand at programming, but couldn't stay interested enough to keep going. I got the basics down, but had a hard time trying to make anything from scratch.
So what makes you really enjoy IT? Any tips for someone thats lost their passion for it? I'm leaning towards getting a Pi and seeing what's available out there for it in the developer communities.
I transitioned from 2D content creation to 3D content creation. Started learning how to code. I learned statistics and been toying with big data sets from social networks. Currently trying to learn ANNs. The moor tools you have the more possibilities open up. I wish I had more time.
I seem to be good at figuring out problems with computers and shit. Don't even really like computers myself which is the big irony. Wish I had been smart enough to become a philosopher
