As it turns out, Skylake-X is actually WORSE on efficiency than Broadwell-E, somehow, in someway, Intel has managed to get worse.

Interesting parts are the voltages, which are almost the same, but the power draw is lunatic.

Prime95 v26.6 is actually non-AVX, to correct the "only AVX is a housefire on Intel" meme.
Turns out it was a meme.

More details in the article.
Welcome to Intel Bulldozer(also has a similar cache topology as Bulldozer, what could possibly go wrong?)

>Antitrust: Commission fines Google €2.42 billion for abusing dominance as search engine by giving illegal advantage to own comparison shopping service
>
>The European Commission has fined Google €2.42 billion for breaching EU antitrust rules. Google has abused its market dominance as a search engine by giving an illegal advantage to another Google product, its comparison shopping service.
>
>The company must now end the conduct within 90 days or face penalty payments of up to 5% of the average daily worldwide turnover of Alphabet, Google's parent company.
>
>Commissioner Margrethe Vestager, in charge of competition policy, said: "Google has come up with many innovative products and services that have made a difference to our lives. That's a good thing. But Google's strategy for its comparison shopping service wasn't just about attracting customers by making its product better than those of its rivals. Instead, Google abused its market dominance as a search engine by promoting its own comparison shopping service in its search results, and demoting those of competitors.
>
>What Google has done is illegal under EU antitrust rules. It denied other companies the chance to compete on the merits and to innovate. And most importantly, it denied European consumers a genuine choice of services and the full benefits of innovation."

The only reason he managed the $70 budget was because he lives in the states where they sell their systems upgrade surplus rather than scrap them, and because he got lucky with the craigslist lottery.

Meanwhile in the EU hospitals and universities either scrap or sell or recycle their computers, and Craigslist doesn't really exist there, so you're forced to buy new which with taxes won't go below $500. Or second hand which I can guarantee you won't be even near as amazing or cheap when it comes to computer parts.

So what happens if you try to install Windows 7 on a Ryzen or Kaby Lake system?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
It works but no substantial improvement updates over time, just security fixes mostly.
>>
You now have broken USB ports.

Good thing most if not all motherboard makers ship off usb drivers for Windows 7.
>>
>>61103846
nothing, but if you actually install instead of just trying you'll have a Windows 7 system on Ryzen or Kaby Lake

>Vega Frontier Edition outscored the Titan XP by 33% in CATIA and 55% in Creo benchmarks, along with a massive 81% advantage in SolidWorks. The final synthetic benchmark was the OpenGL-based Cinebench, in which AMD’s Vega ran 17% faster.

>Faster performance for Nvidia cards in these benchmarks would come by way of its Quadro lineup, although we’re talking $4000+ to achieve similar performance.

Good enough for basic internet browsing and casually watching videos, garbage for any real productivity if you're not going to hook up to a real. Monitor though.

I work as an accountant, and my boss refuses to upgrade his aging super cheap laptop. Whenever I have to do anything on that thing it is such a chore. Can't even have two windows open side to side without cutting everything off, and even full screen it cuts a lot off.

Intel literally on suicide watch. They can barely compete, so now they throw faulty products out on the market in the hopes of at least keeping up production-speed wise.

Desperation is setting in.
