What's this black coating on my CRT? I found this monitor on the sode of the road, and it had already started coming off a bit. Is it safe to remove? Really don't want to throw it away, as it hits 1600x1200 and if I drop the resolution I an get 100hz on it.
its the graphite/phosphor coating and if its breaking away then the screen is toast
if its on the outside of the glass its probably just an anti glare coating or something, in which case you can totally remove it
>>61236981
It's only the anti-glare coating. Should be safe to remove. But it takes quite a while to get rid of that shit.

That seems to be the case, image displays fine in the area without it. I think it may also have some anti static properties though.
Are ((design patterns)) just meme or are they useful?
When I read stuff on Builder pattern and Factory pattern I feel like I'm getting memed
ITT /g/ can't into programming
and people say functional programming is a meme.
I think it's a bit of a hammer/nail problem, some ppl just try to use them for everything, even if it doesn't fit.
Some of you guys are alright. Don't pick up C.
R is happening for tomorrow.
so long world
>>61236591
R is based on C you dumb business analyst.
S3 objects are in C++.
these languages are so absolutely incomparable, it shows you have no idea what you're talking about
>>61236591
Julia is going to completely replace R in data science
What moron would use this?

I am sure it has some very specific use such as dropping off machinery to remote locations or something like that
i doubt it was built for no reason
: the ability to stay airborne for days and weeks at a time in order to achieve surveillance, search and survey tasks; and the ability to transport heavy goods point-to-point, without the need for expensive airport infrastructure.
So I can see that, if you are the us military and dominate the air you could safely fly that thing in a big circle with communication equipment on it for a week at a time, that would make sense
Hi !
Can someone tell me why I have a syntax error ?

What word ??

Why did you not post this as code so we can see indentation? Is this post just false flagging bait?
As System D is clearly shit, I'd like to point you to:

Where a new bug is found. The jewish bitch Poettering just puts some flags and asks xis minions to look at it. Minions are:

The first is a fedorafag into RPM manteinance, while the 2nd says on xis page he works @ RedHat

So is it full of bugs, or is it too big to audit?
You FUD shitters can't have it both ways.
That sack of shit systemd is both full of bugs and too big to audit.
That's just 2 things wrong with it.
The eternal teuton strikes again
How exactly does one overcome this?
This is the single most crucial factor hindering my personal technological progression to GNU/Linux, because I am so used to Aero, and cannot stand anything else. Is there a definate way to cure this?
Are you sure you don't have autism? A disdain for new things and new ways of doing things is a regular symptom.
>>61237059
Yes, but that's beside the point. Is Baby Duckling curable?
>>61237090
force yourself to use it. You'll always go back to windows if you can, so back up your important data, and wipe your windows install. You won't switch back if it takes more work than just learning linux.

Why goy, you don't need more then 4, and 2 is plenty!
You install Gentoo.
Step 1 - Watch 'Mr. Robot'
Step 2 - Install Kali Linux

Does anyone remembera Tox project?
What came of it? Is it a skype killer yet?
Are devs still /g/ents or has development moved on?
>>61235861
Fight -> More fights -> Use of donation money by a dev to fund studies -> Breakup -> Fights -> Tox Foundation threatening the other parts with DMCA takedowns (lol)
Ring (GNU supported! + solving the privacy issue) and Matrix (Discord-like) are the new hopes.
>>61235961
Damn, I remember the drama at the beginning.
I guess it was the sign that it's not gonna work out.
So after a those years, still no real functional alternative.
>>61235861
>What came of it? Is it a skype killer yet?
It's actually Not Completely Deadâ„¢ and sort of usable, though progress is slow.
There's like a couple thousand users at best, but at least it's not as shitty as Skype.
>Are devs still /g/ents or has development moved on?
I don't contribute to Tox anymore, but I watch from afar. (And even though /g/ has gone to shit a while ago I'm still here forever)
What's the point of SSDs if their failure rate is as bad as HDDs?
Did manufacturers figure out a maximized profit scheme where they can get away with selling a high rate of defective units and still end up with a higher return than if they increased production cost to reduce failure rate?
ssd are prioritized for "dying after i would have replaced a hdd, runs faster until then"
lambos need to go to the engine shop every 10-20k miles while a corolla will roll for 300k on oil changes, same shit
failure rates COULD be economized more, but no one without clinically diagnosed autism would take a $600 256gb ssd that will fail in 10 years over a $300 256gb that will fail in 6 years purchased now + a $300 ($250 in now-dollars) 2tb ssd that will fail in 6 years purchased in 2023
>>61236274
good ssds nowadays can last like 60 years is that not fucking enough for you?
>>61236274
>What's the point of SSDs if their failure rate is as bad as HDDs?
Their speed?
960 Evo or 850 Pro?
MX300.
Much cheaper for almost the same performance.
>>61235800
Make sure to buy some aftermarket heat sinks
I went for an 850 Evo because I wanted more storage and didn't need the ultraspeed and queue depth benefits of NVMe.
>>61236594
I went with Samsung over the MX300 because it caches writes correctly and doesn't cut its speed in half after a few hundred megabytes of writes.
iphone DO NOT just fucking work you cant even connect a fucking bluetooth controller to the bastards unless its a special "ios aspproved" model what the fuck is this horseshit? 30 minutes trying to use my 8bitdo with san andreas on my brothers phone with no luck just get android it works with just pairing and pressing the button you want to the action much simpler
iPhones are for grownups, grow up and stop playing games.
