By installing Linux.
Is a smartphone with no SIM (or in an airplane mode) secure? I had an idea of having a device for purposes other than calling and texting, such as Internet surfing, making photos and videos, GPS (I know, not secure, but it's not like I would do it all the time). All that is possible without SIM card. But does phone track me or spy on my activities even though the lack of SIM card?
Also, to create such device, I would have to change the OS. Any recommendations?
Does changing the OS completely get rid of all the software from the previous one, or just disable Google bloatware without actually removing it (I heard so)?
Bump?
>connect to the internet
>DOES IT SPY ON ME
What do you think mouthbreathing retard
>>61441211
It's possible tp encrypt your communications tho. Besides, I was asking whether a smartphone spies on me when it doesn't have SIM card and is not connected to the Internet.
just how bad, broken and unreliable would it be to make a messaging app 100% from scratch?
the sytem for receiving notifications would simply be to poll the server continuously.
what aresome better, FLOSS ways to do this? it will probaly be hosted on a raspberry pi and have a Qt app as a front end in the beginning.

Guys I want to buy a new dell monitor and I can't decide between these two models.
I'll use it as an all rounder, from photo editing to movies, I'll play some video games too since I have a nice rig.
The 2515h is a consolidated model while the 2518d is brand new and also has the HDR feature, still I can't find any single review.
What do? Go with the "old" one or jump on the newer display?
As someone that was looking into buying the U2515H, don't bother.
Look for the UP2516D, it's a newer version, and pretty much everything about it is better, and sometimes it's even cheaper, depending on where you buy it.
>>61439373
On my local Amazon the 2516 cost more than the new 2518, which is cheaper if bought from dell website.
Are they similar?
On paper the U2518D looks overall better, however with a Dell monitor you will never get a bad product. Guaranteed.
It's going to be interesting watching all those British people who used a credit card to access porn sites getting their details hacked by someone who'll probably sell the details on the Darkweb...
...and then some sick fuck will most likely use it to buy child pornography.
But hey, gotta protect dem children, AMIRITE?
What happened?
does this apply to 2d pron too
>>61439363
Brits will now have to enter a credit card number just to visit porn sites.

I've returned the 2560x1440 monitor because of banding, so now I'm stuck picking one again.
Ultimately I'd like to get a 4k display, but there's currently one at 32'' and it's quite expensive.
So should I get a 32'' 2560x1440 in the meantime? Specifically the Benq PD3200Q.
Going back to just 1920x1080 is painful.
>>61439150
>Benq PD3200Q.
That seems like a solid choice. That monitor also costs as much as i bought my 4k tv for.
>>61439427
>That monitor also costs as much as i bought my 4k tv for.
It's pretty dumb frankly. How come TV's are so much cheaper?
I'd even get one as a monitor replacement, but 43''+ is just too big for me to use as a monitor.
What do you fill it with?
Do you encrypt it?

Why do i feel like im the only Delphi programmer here? It is a good language. FMX lib are native cross-platform.(Win32, Win64, Linux, MacOS, Android and iOS). It is very fast to write applications and very comprehensible code (not like c/c++).

Because most of /g/ is not interested in real world work, just meme academic shit like functional programming languages.
Is indesign the only good program for putting books and stuff together? Or are there some good alternatives? I'm practicing with it, and I find it kind of finicky to work with, not as easy as something like photoshop or manga studio for instance. I think you can put books together in manga studio as well if I'm not mistaken, but I'm also curious as to what other programs could be used for graphic design or layouts.
There`s always LaTeX
>>61438719
Idesign is pretty good, but yeah it has a very different workflow than Photoshop. Once you get your head round some of the differences in concepts you'll be fine if you're good with Photoshop.
>>61438719
Well, something like 5-10 years ago QuarkXPress was not just a viable alternative but the definitive publishing software, then they completely shit themselves and now there's no real alternative to Id. Honestly, InDesign is not as bad as it seems, if you think it's finicky to work with, then you're lucky to have gotten into the game this late, compared to ye olde days where even an expert Excel user would break a sweat if he was shown what was needed for digital publishing.
I am looking for stable music production software. I found musix on the GNU website and am considering downloading it. Are there better distros or software packages available for Linux?
>>61438644
You do know that 99% of VSTs/music library/plugin/effects/virtual instruments don't work on Linux, right ?
Anyway, Musix inludes Ardour which is probably the best music production software for Linux so it should be ok.
>>61438644
use GNU/Linux/bitwig/audacity
>>61438708
There's been a lot of work done to get Windows only vsts working on Linux in the past couple of years, mostly thanks to bitwig.
>>61438644
Ardour, LMMS, bitwig (costs) Daw wise, there's a few really good standalone synths and drum machines too.
You can run flstudio and ableton in wine iirc
