Wtf is this pajeetery?
>everything glued together
>even a heat gun won't separate the glue
>had to use industrial freezer to separate the case
>almost everything inside glued
>everything else soldered together
>you can't replace any component, you have to throw away the whole phone
>repairability score of 1 instead of 0 because at least internal screws are Philips, not some propriety shape
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Essential+Phone+Teardown/96764
Why does this keep happening?
>>62417005
it's a disposable phone... like most android phones are.
>>62417005
>Why does this keep happening?
they don't want repair shops to fix it, they want to charge people at the apple stores for replacing the whole phone

Is qemu/kvm/ovfm broken?
Im trying to do an install and its freezing in a way its never done before. Linux boots fine but windows freezes even when using qxl, std, or cirrus.
>>62416996
OP here.
For anyone lurking,
Fucking uefi doesnt like q35.. remove q35 and you can install.
fucking weird because other installs are running with q35.
>>62416996
Primarily a windows 7 bug I had on debian.
I worked around by installing win 8 in a VM. It was horrible. The thing had no idea what to do when virtualized and would routinely defrag itself forcefully with no off button.
Don't use Q35, it's not ready yet, major issues with PCI topology when I was paravirtualizing.
What's your distro?

host is arch, guest is wes7
I learned Django the other day and my little websites all work locally. But I do not know anything about hosting websites and after googling and testing, I got overwhelmed by the amount of information thrown at me.
>Tried Heroku
>Pain in the ass to deploy with the weirdest commands and files you have to create
>After successful deploy, I could not run the server locally anymore
>Gave up
>Looked at AWS
>A lot of weird stuff: EC2, S2, microA4, EB, Beanstock, what the fuck
>Free register asks for a lot of identity information unlike Heroku
>Gave up after not understanding anything
>Looked at dedicated servers by steadfast
>Too expensive
Which host can I use for my own project? Which is just a website where people can upload images (e.g. hentai and porn)? So I would need a good database and storage mainly.
get a vps, like dreamhost
fuck I meant digitalocean idk why i said dreamhost
>tfw listened to too many podcast adverts in one lifetime
I've been using DigitalOcean for over a year and I recommend it a lot. Cheap, excellent service, good locations, etc.
Was looking at Zenbooks. They look pretty good, wondering if anyone here has any advice/critiques.
Biggest thing for me if the screen and battery life.
>>62416907
I don't have a "Zenbook", but my ASUS laptop is basically the same as a Zenbook except slightly fatter?? maybe? It's the KU501U and I've honestly had no issues with it at all and it's as light as a feather compared to my much older "business laptop".
I would imagine the zenbook would be just as good. Not sure how long it'll last tho as I only used mine for about a year daily and then my work buy us all Dell xps laptops so I barely use my asus anymore desu.
>>62416907
They include a sleeve for a reason: aluminum bends. my old magnesium alloy asus still smooth as baby skin but my ux310 already has tiny bents
And read the specs carefully, some of zenbooks use TN panel instead of IPS
>>62416907
Posting from my ux303lb,
People saying these things have hinge issues is definitely true. I do editing and rendering on this and the heat causes the plastic in the hinge to bend and mine has cracked on one side.
Also an aluminum touchpad feels bad on your fingertip after using it for so long and if the power plug isn't grounded correctly when plugged in you can feel electricity on the back of the screen or where your palms rest from the keyboard.
If you get the high res screen, the glass is GLOSSY so i hope you like checking yourself out in your own screen. I'm planning on replacing mine in maybe a year.
EXILE OF TERRY A. DAVIS EDITION

FAQ
>What is TempleOS?
TempleOS (formerly J Operating System, SparrowOS and LoseThos) is a biblical themed lightweight operating system created over the span of a decade by programmer Terry A. Davis.
>How did TempleOS start?
Development for TempleOS began in 2003 after Davis suffered from a series of manic episodes that left him briefly hospitalized for mental health issues.
Davis is a former atheist who believes that he can "talk with God" and that God told him the operating system he built was God's official temple. According to Davis TempleOS is of 'Divine' intellect due to the inspired nature of the code. According to Davis, God said to create the operating system with 640x480, 16 colors display and a single audio voice. The operating system was coded in a programming language developed by Davis in C/C++ called "HolyC". The OS runs a file system called "Red Sea".
>What can TempleOS do?
TempleOS deliberately has no network support. It runs 8-bit ASCII with graphics in source code and has a 2D and 3D graphics library, which run at 640x480 VGA with 16 colors. The OS contains numerous embedded biblical references including a program called AfterEgypt which allows users to "communicate with God" through an oracle.

Android emojis are the real dealbreaker desu otherwise i would switch

middle/lower class needs their status symbol too, it's hardly about features, just like my watch that doesn't do much more than a $10 one would

You can root your phone and make it use apple emojis.
Face ID is a really bad idea.
Let's imagine for a moment that there's a scale with only one horizontal axis. Further to the left is security, while further to the right is convenience.
A number code is very far to the left; it's probably the most secure way to lock your phone but gets really annoying to have to punch in those digits any time you want to do anything besides take a photo.
Further to the right is Face ID. Incredibly convenient but also dangerously easy to surpass.
Touch ID would be somewhere in the middle; it's less secure than a pass code but much more convenient. Touch ID can be surpassed, yes, but only with a lot of time and resources and a big chunk of money spent in the process. Someone would have to steal your phone, steal your fingerprint by somehow getting a picture where your fingerprints are clear enough to replicate, then replicate your fingerprints onto a silicone print. Someone would only do that if you were important enough to go through all of that for your information; say, if you were a politician with dirt or a celebrity or something.
Meanwhile, Face ID can be surpassed if, say, I'm talking to someone with my iPhone X sitting on a table between us and they just decide to take my phone, point it at me and swipe up. That's all they have to do to get in. Takes no effort or time or money, really.
Besides, fingerprints are much more reliable anyway; they work in many more environments than facial recognition technologies do. Doesn't matter if your finger is moist or damp, upside down or not, doesn't matter if you're inside or outside, in the dark or in broad sunlight; 'it just werx.' Face ID, despite being better than standard Face Unlock due to the fact that it makes a 3D mapping of your face rather than just taking a picture, still sucks because it wouldn't work 100% of the time like a fingerprint sensor would.
I don't hate bezels enough to sacrifice both security and convenience to get rid of them. I don't think anyone does.
Ok
I love all this judging of technology that isn't even released yet.
>>62416569
You thought all of this through, but you did not bother to read up how FaceID works. You need to be making eye contact with your phone.
If you are talking to someone who steals your phone. If you are leaving your phone out just like that. If you are fucking foolish enough to look at your phone, KNOWING how FaceID works. Then you don't deserve security and should've gotten the 8.
I just fixed the iPhone X

>Kim Kardashian is among the most popular people in all of social media, with 55 million Twitter followers, nearly 18 million more than President Trump. “Let’s imagine that one day she says, ‘My supporters — do this,’” Peskov said. “This will be a signal that will be accepted by millions and millions of people. And she’s got no intelligence, no interior ministry, no defense ministry, no K.G.B.” This, he said, was the new reality: the global proliferation of the kinds of reach and influence that were once reserved for the great powers and, more recently, great media conglomerates. “The new reality creates a perfect opportunity for mass disturbances,” he said, “or for initiating mass support or mass protests.”
