I want to install a systemd free distro on my system. How do I go about it? Gentoo, CloverOS, Devuan or Void Linux?
>>61504515
>How do I go about it?
okay this is really complicated so stay with me here.
>pick the one of those distros that you like the best
>install it like you normally would
>realize the systemd avoidance is just you doing whatever's a fad on /g/
>>61504661
Well I'm asking advice on which one to choose. No, I actually used systemd and I want to try a distro without it
>>61504515
Manjaro Open RC

I name mine after college football teams.
I have one named tiger, another named tiger, also one named tiger, oh, and can't forget about tiger.
do you test your code /g/? or is it overrated to do so?
What disgusting pseudocode is that?
The test- driven thing I find overrated, or at the very least, just not for me. I usually write tests for the interesting, non- trivial parts, or in reaction to a bug/performance problem. If I'm working on an existing codebase, not written by me or I haven't worked in it for a year or two, I also try to write tests for the code that I'm about to refactor or change otherwise.
But yeah, in general I don't strive for a high code coverage and try not to write too many tests for infrastructure/plumbing/trivial code instead focus on the interesting stuff.
Whats with that 6000 lines garbage API for a Todolist?
Testing is a waste of time, anyway.
>2017

You don't need that to run a minecraft server.
>>61504845
well what do you need?
The top panel looks backwards, they should have made all the blue arrows go in the same direction. I'm ignoring the fact that the visual designs on a server rack are completely useless anyway.

How does Intel feel getting gangbanged for 4 straight months without any indication of it stopping?
https://www.techpowerup.com/235385/francois-piednoel-quits-intel
No rest for the wicked
>>61504082
He's going to join RISC-V. You watch.
so many senior intel staff have quit over the last year or two, especially the engineers. they see the writing on the wall.

Time to form a dream team with John Keller?
Hello guys,
I guess it has been talked about already but I researched Silicon Valley season 4 and I really like Richards idea

I am not as good in IT. Is this new internet possible and if yes, why we did not do it already?
what's the point of a 'new internet'?
just use usenet or tor if you're desperate
>>61504006
it is no desperation, it is the concept that fascinates me. A decentralized intert could change the world.
I just want to know if it's possible

The instant the public created an unregulated, non-overseen network where they can cooperate anonymously, the FCC would use its executive power to (((shut it down))) since its "on the public airwaves!" and "needs to be regulated for the good of (((the children, anti-terrorism, pedophile-entrapment, drug-dealer-entrapment, protection-from-Russia, protection-from-Hackerz, etc...)))"
I downloaded 4chan x and then uninstalled it
now 4chan won't show me who is quoting who, and won't let me click on numbers in order to do replies.
What the fuck /g/, did you do this?
>>61503854
install gentoo
It was da jooooz
which 4chan x did you install? ccd0's is malware, who knows what it did to your browser.
>it's another google chrome doesn't want to load any webpages for 5 minutes after waking your PC meanwhile firefox works fine episode
Works on my PC
>>61503742
Chrome has potato support now?
>>61504136
I meant pootato.
Can there be a VM thread? Im old AF but just learning computering and I want to know more about VMs like will OS/programs that run fast in VMs run faster installed on my hardware? It seems like all the same shit just to listen to soundcloud and browse 4chan/g
>old AF
>computering
just die
>I-Im old as fuck, I swear guys!
Get out agelet
>>61503719
In VMs you cannot get 100% performance. Also theres layers of abstraction that is counted as overhead. If you wanna do intensive tasks VMs are not for you. If you wanna run a couple of low calc servers i.e for web and such, just host a VM.
Hope this helps.
Why the fuck does Skype allow pajeets to call US/Canadian numbers for free!
Makes it easier to do scams I bet the goyms at Microdicks get a cut of the scams too.
>>61503640
So they can help you fix your computer.
>>61503640
i am a literal pajeet but i make my earning my catching these so called scammers
2017 - the state of Linnox.
2017 could have really been the year of Linux on the desktop, instead we get this shit and systemd.
Why is /g/ so eager to tell everyone they're fucking incompetent?
>>61503636
That shit has been happening for like 5 years, and it's actually a good thing.
It's nice not needing to change all of your fucking config files if you ever do anything with your hardware.
$ cat /etc/udev/rules.d/10-network.rules
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", ATTR{address}=="34:f3:9a:XX:XX:XX", NAME="wlan"
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", ATTR{address}=="54:ee:75:YY:YY:YY", NAME="eth"
Persistent interface names, and they're just named "wlan" and "eth". With literally two lines of config pinning your MAC to a name. Just do it and stop whining.
What VPN does /g/ use? Thoughts on it?
I've been hearing that PIA has been sucking shit lately, and it seems like all reviews I see these days are shills. Only reliable site I know of is thatoneprivacysite but it's pretty daunting when looking at the chart.
>>61503632
I'm using celo, it's not that great though. Don't know where to go after this.
>>61503632
I am using Twelve dot Rocks (that's a URL) for my daily driver. 70 bucks a year and servers everywhere. I don't torrent through it though.
it's nice being watched, it gives my life purpose :)
