In WHAT situation would you need 144 virtual desktops!?
>>61516655
>"640 kB ought to be enough for anybody"
In what situation would you *ever* need more than 640k of RAM?
>>61516809
Even the most hardcore user can only make effective use of so many virtual desktops. The hardware could be there, the human brain would still struggle to keep up. Diminishing returns man.
>>61516809
to hold all these desktops
Should I get a 4k or 1080p TV, /g/?
I plan to mostly use it for PC gaming by running an HDMI cable to my PC. For gaming my computer can't handle 4k, so I have to use 1080p resolution. How are 4k TVs at upscaling? Does shit look blurry?
It's retarded but 1080p TVs don't seem to be made much anymore and 4k TVs are barely more expensive than 1080p TVs.
Enjoy your half a second input lag, TVs suck for gaming. Just get a 1080p monitor.
>>61516643
How far are you sitting away and what size of TV are you planning on getting?
>>61516672
This is also a concern, I play on a TV, Vizio 32" E Series and it's pretty bad even though it's supposed to be one of the more passable panels.

How's this programming related fag
>>61516462
First for Fortran
how to programming, I have thislet screenshotPos = takescreenshot (30,300)
let mousePos = getMousePos
let rec jumba sPos mPos diff =
match diff with
| x when x >= 30 -> jumba screenshotPos mousePos (screenshotPos - mousePos)
| _ -> 0
jumba screenshotPos mousePos (screenshotPos - mousePos)
when running it seems like the screenshotPos and mousePos expression is only evaluate once, anyway to have it always evaluate when calling it inside the recursive function?
Do people dislike java because it's popular among pajeets or is it a genuinely bad language?
>or
hahaha
People generally don't like its verbosity but is considered to be an adequate general purpose language. NEETs don't like it because it's considered the language for people who work. But yes, pajeets contribute to the hate of the language ten fold.
>>61516471
(cont.) If you search for Java related topics on Google, street shitter web sites have all but overtaken the search engine space with them giving out very bad advice and they're usually written in broken English. There are also pajeets shitting up sites the Quora giving boilerplate or nonsense answer on topics relating to Java. It's incredibly annoying and further fuels hatred toward the language even though it has nothing to do with the language itself.
how many USB Ports (normal ones, 2.0/3.0, none of that apple shit) does /g/ think a laptop should have to be practical?
I usually have 7 devices plugged in at all times so i think it should be 7, but 6 would also be acceptable
>>61516310
Wouldn't you be better off with a desktop if you neet so many peripherals?

wwhat the fuck is this thread
where were you when it actually came out?
>>61516300
i still dont have it lmao
>>61516300
I literally just got it.
C# fanboys piss me off. They see themselves as far above VB.NET users and don't seem to realise that they're using the exact same shitty language with slightly prettier syntax. It's just lipstick on a pig.
C# is a fun toy.
>>61516173
I got a job where they told me I would be using C#.net and I ended up fixing trivial bugs in legacy vb.net spaghetti code all day.
It pays really well though.
I don't understand the point of this post.
A thread fucking died for this.

hey guys I have a question for you about what I am enduring myself in real time, it is quite frustratingly painful. I came home this evening and noticed my computer was wide awake (had put it to sleep before going to dinner). Firefox was frozen, Thunderbird was trying to open a million windows, my CPU and memory usage were a million percents. I figured I had the virus. I rebooted to see if it was something stupid, same thing on startup. Firefox slow, Thunderbirds all over the place, so I shut down, booted from memory stick OS and the screen was flashing, failure to find all kinds of stuff... when the live boot reverted to command line I was getting all kinds of characters popping up and I couldn't type reboot without getting re00005ikppbp000o5o05t. I had to press the button on the computer (I know that's bad). The only thing I can think of is that I just got a new keyboard (pic related). Is it theoretically possible, that someone loaded a virus on that keyboard and it got loaded into my computer somehow through the PS/2 port? Suggestions please.
>>61515534
also if that's the case that it's a malignant keyboard virus, it seems that it's infected something below the OS because like I said it affects booting from the USB stick as well. I am at a loss.
Sounds like you have seminal fluids in your keyboard.
>>61515702
I've only had it a week though. Old USB keyboard didn't give me a virus it just stopped working after a few years. Is USB safer than PS/2?
I think 5 tablets are better in terms of backups and portability.

Want to rewrite a relatively large Python webapp into Node or Golang, here is what I know right now:
Go:
+ very fast
+ easier deployment
+ easier to check for bugs in development
+ easy to use in golang KV stores
-Harder to do SSR of Javascript (SEO is important)
-No really strong web framework
Node
+ Fast enough
+ Easy to do SSR
- Faster development but harder to debug
- Most frameworks are shitty anyway

How the fuck do you guys use so much storage space on your computers?
I have been using this laptop for 2 years and only have used 35 GB of space! (pic related)
What do you have that takes up so much space? Entire seasons of TV shows in HD quality only take up like 3 GB each!
Are you all constantly torrenting shit and hoping your download speed doesn't exceed Moore's Law?
>>61514933
i've been running my laptop off a 4GB usb stick. i stream everything and don't download anything. my free space is around 250MB
Some people do actual work
