/tv/ only wants to talk about waifus and memes so i have to ask you guys
how is dolby cinema and it it worth the more expensive tickets? i don't want to go to regular multiplex cinemas anymore when the picture quality is better at home and there is no imax closeby
so is the whole dolby vision and atmos thing noticeable when you are watching a movie or does it not make much of a difference?
>>61522085
Install Gentoo
>>61522085
For action movies Dolby Atmos is pretty impressive and a cut above regular surround. Other than that I wouldn't seek it out.
If your main complaint about going to the theater is the price, figure out when their discount days are and plan to go then. Two different theaters in my city do $5 days, one on Tuesday and the other on Wednesday. Kind of nice to pay $5 for an assigned recliner
>>61522157
thanks for the response anon
my main complaint with regular cinemas is the image quality desu
i don't know if my local cinemas are all showing movies in a lower resolution but every movie almost always looks brighter and sharper on my tv at home
or maybe there is just something wrong with my eyes
a couple years ago i loved going to the movies but the magic is gone if watching movies at home actually looks better than in the cinema
it's good to hear that at least atmos is worth something, can you say anything about the projection quality in dolby cinemas?

Recently bought this Lenovo laptop from BestBuy for $675. Everything is great about it EXCEPT for the fan noise. It seems to be fluctuating all the time and I'm mostly just browsing on google chrome...
I'm probably going to return it as I HATE hearing the fan pick up in speed and drop constantly. Any advice

>>61521178
Return it, lenovo can't figure out how to properly cool a device. Just get a macbook.
>>61521345
Ya I'm returning it. Hearing that fan noise is driving me insane. I want a quiet laptop.
Aren't macbooks overpriced though.
Any other recommendations
What's your opinion on the internet addiction?
Real, but manageable. Deleted my twattersock puppet account a couple days ago and it was the best decision I've made in awhile. The vast majority of the interwebs is just noise and essentially useless. Nigger filled social media sites are at the top of that list
That excerpt is obviously bullshit though. "Attention span" is undefined, and 8 is the maximum? The average? I can focus and read a book or study for an exam or watch a movie for 2 hours straight. And my "attention span" is less than a goldfish?
>>61521154
"Attention span" isn't decreasing. People's interest in certain things is. And when there's so much shit in the world, it really isn't that ridiculous of a thing to do. I would imagine that a man researching stuff online would not try to focus on the domestic violence happening next door. In the old days, you'd get an adrenaline rush from seeing a tumbleweed move across a field.

I've been browsing /g/ for a few months and I finally built my own PC. I disregarded almost all of /g/'s advice, instead researching everything myself and making my own decisions.
>i7 6700k
None of the Kaby Lake temperature issues. Lots of motherboard support, very very few bugs/issues/etc. Still a super strong chip for the money
>GTX1080
This one doesn't need much explaining
>280mm all-in-one cooler
Did you know that the -only- AIO I could find leakage reports for was the old Corsair H100i? Since then they've renovated it, and there hasn't been any issues since the re-engineering. Everyone told me to go with a heatsink, but the AIO runs much colder with a strong overclock, and it allows a lot more airflow for the motherboard and my graphics card.
>expensive Asus motherboard
A lot of Z170 motherboards need a BIOS flash in order to run Kaby Lake chips, and in order to perform this flash you need a CPU installed. But if you pay the cash, you can get one that won't need a CPU to update. Also this board has tons of BIOS flexibility, overclocking is a breeze, no GPU sag, and I can adjust just about anything from inside the OS rather than having to back out.
>M.2 SATA SSD
I bought a cheap 275gb Crucial M.2-2280 SSD as a boot drive, even though /pcbg/ insisted I buy an NVMe. I cold boot in 35 seconds with a BIOS screen, 20 seconds without. I don't see how double the price would be worth a couple of seconds of boot time.
>I run 2x140mm in front, 2x140mm on top (AIO) on intake, and 1x140mm in rear for exhaust
If I put the AIO in front, I'm pulling all of that warm air across my GPU, hard drives, and motherboard, or if I run it as exhaust, I'm pulling the warm air up through the radiator. But this way I get cool air from the radiator, and it's evacuated almost immediately by a rear-top fan, allowing proper air flow over all the other parts. Good temps, no problems, and no dust inside the case.
So long story short, advice on /g/ isn't the end-all.
Shit value, would not buy /10

Has anyone else recently had an ad randomly blasted in their ears from nowhere recently?
I'm using Win10, and an ad for lactaid just starting fucking blaring out of nowhere. I closed all windows, and ended all unnecessary programs aside from the sticky notes function and the thing STILL played.
