/g/entlemen, I'm trying to upgrade 8gb of RAM to 16gb, it has 2 slots in total, one 8gb stick already in there, and an open one which I put the new 8gb stick into, it clicks right and seems well seated but it's not detecting it at all, not in BIOS or anywhere. Swapping slots it only detects the original 8gb and if I use the new RAM only it won't start up at all. However, it works on my friend's computer.
So both slots work, the new RAM works on other computers, all I can think of is this in the manual. Did HP just cuck me out of being able to simply upgrade RAM? Is there a way around this?

My ssd went from 9 free gb left with the bar in the red to 27 gb free space and bar went back to blue. Haven't deleted anything. Nothing new in D drive. wtf is happening?

recently installed Ubuntu on this shitty old Lenovo with an Intel i2 T5800.
originally running Vista, support for it ended early this year.
after an hour of using, most of the shit seems idiotproof, but are there things about the OS that the average person would miss, quirks and such.
Did I fuck up, for choosing Ubuntu. should I just pirate win7?

Ubuntu is perfectly fine. Don't listen to the Gentoo and Arch shills who say "kek, brainlet" if you don't use those two. If you've never used Linux before then Ubuntu is perfect. It will give you everything you need to start and also a good platform to customize and learn on. Just learn the basics like using the command line to install programs; create, move copy and delete files/directories; use programs in the terminal with commands instead of with a GUI.
But look at different desktop environments since Unity is going to abandon Unity in the 18.04 LTR. Personally I like XFCE and MATE. But I used Lubuntu with LXDE and it's very quick and snappy, good for older hardware.
Why is this so common, why is this acceptable?
I'm shopping around for a laptop and every time I see half size arrow keys I drop it from my list

I believe that Closed Shell Systems (CSSY) are self-contained data servers on a LAN network that aren’t connected to the internet. The data held on them are, of course, kept a secret and only a few people can have access to it. I believe that there are CSSY’s around the world, and that they are holding illegal/classified information.
“Accessing” a CSSY would either mean gaining access to one through force or gaining trust to get into one of them.
