I'm thinking of moving to The Bay Area™ for job opportunities, and doing a craigstlist apartment search like I used to in college on the East Coast.
You can do a simple search and find quite a few apartments right around silicon valley for not even $500/mo:
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/hhh?excats=40-1-58-22-22-1&min_price=200&max_price=500&availabilityMode=0
What's the catch with these shits? I thought housing prices in SF were like $4000/mo. Is it possible to fake it till you make it in SV on the relatively cheap?
As soon as I posted this, I realized it might be better suited for >>/trv/. But I'd like /g/'s opinion on whether it's worth it to try & be a dreamer in the technology memecapital of the world.
I think one of the major catches is actually being able to get a job within the area, should probably lock that down before considering living arrangements.

Hey /g/, I was hoping for some advice on picking a laptop. My only requirements are it has to be able to Windows, have a usb port for a mouse, be able to handle video editing, and I have to be able to do my finances on it, Very low requirements, I know, but my budget is also low. My absolute max is $500 but I'd ideally like to keep it between 300-450.
I've been looking at the thinkpad because it was the first one i saw in my price range on PC mag. I'm very stupid when it comes to laptops.
>>61649173
>Video editing
>Low requirement
>$300-450
Maybe if you're editing 480p only. Anything more and you're going to get problems.
t. A professional video editor
>>61649198
Literally all i need it to be able to handle is 480p in windows movie maker, im not making Dunkirk.
The Acer Aspire 5 runs at about $600, I'd save for that.
If you need something for less right now, get a Thinkpad x200 off of EBay or something.
>Data in the last twenty years shows the general trend of girls outperforming boys in academic achievement in terms of class grades across all subjects and college graduation rates, but boys scoring higher on standardized tests and being better represented in the higher-paying and more prestigious STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math).[5]
how do we fix the tech industry from discriminating against women like we did with universities?
>>61649136
How could boys score higher on standardized tests if they're being outperformed?

Delete this right now.
i've gotten about a half dozen letters and increasingly stern emails from my ISP over the last 6 months. they never cared before, but times change.
are VPNs a solution to that and all my paranoid delusions, or is it a scam to make me pay someone $80 for slower internet?
these nords are only asking $80 for 2 years, which is pretty worthwhile to just never worry about losing my precious net connection.
Mullvad.

Why hasn't /g/ work together to build an open source virtual waifu yet?
If everyone just add a few of codes every now and then we'll have her in no time and then, some company might take interest in it and create robot shells for her

I have a Screenvision p1-1080p projector that was previously used in a movie theater. It has a IR receiver on it but no remote. no power buttons. nothing happens when plugging in. Im assuming i will need some kind of remote that can learn the device but not sure if thats possible if i cant get it to fire up first. any help or suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Hey op, I once had a monitor like this. What I suggest doing is plugging in the projector with a mains cable (make sure it isn't from a cheap Chinese warehouse) then plug in a video source. It should detect the video source and display it.
Good luck!
>>61648888
I'll give that a try, should have a couple nice ones around from pc power supply.
Thanks!
