>you can use actually good software (Visual Studio) instead of inconvenient, antiquated retardation
>Visual Studio has a vim extension
>you can use Cygwin and chocolatey for any of your Unix autism
>all software you would use on Linux is on Windows
>graphics don't stutter like it's fucking 1995
>you can actually write Windows applications
>UI doesn't look like it's from 2002 or a macOS knockoff
There is literally no reason to not be on Windows in 2017.
>>61704077
there is no fucking mods on this board, how many times i saw this bullshit
>>61704077
>he thinks I need to be on Windows to use Visual Studio Code
Begone shill.
>>61704202
VSCode is nowhere CLOSE to Visual Studio Proper. It's a good text editor but no IDE.
For my dipshit clients I use the following software:
Malwarebytes
Malwarebytes junkware remover
Kaspersky TDSS Killer
Glary Utilities
Microsoft autoruns
What do you guys use for basic virus removal for clients / customers?
pic unrelated
install gentoo
I've found that installing a real operating system, like a GNU OS with the Linux kernel, is the easiest method of removing malware.
Have you tried installing Gentoo?
>>61704086
Is that like Ubuntu?
When did you realize nobody in this board genuinely was interested in technology but only deal with technology to feel intellectually superior?
>>61703996
That counts as interested.
>>61704067
not really, they're not passionate
i like to discuss technology
it usually boils down to "fuck you for using that software" "no fuck you that software is needlessly difficult" "no fuck you the difficulty is worth it" on loop but sometimes there's good discussion
First AMD Ryzen Threadripper Unboxing

Apparently this shit was under NDA but screencaps were leaked before the video got taken down.
What does /g/ think of Threadripper and socket TR4? Try and argue without wojaks this time.

Lineage OS , is lineage OS private, no data mining? I heard lineage OS doesn't actually implement security patches in an effective way.
Would it be a good idea to put lineage on my s7 edge? What can expected in terms of performance loss?
>>61703952
You'll probably suffer a 10% hit in general performance and a 60% hit in camera quality. Knickknacks like Wi-Fi Direct may or may not work.
As for security, it all depends on who's maintaining Lineage OS for your particular model. If Pajeet and Ramesh are in charge, you're gonna have a bad time.
>>61704028
So will there be data mining like Google does?
You should really investigate forth, /g/. It's a superior languages for hackers who know what they're doing.
>>61703892
MOMMY
>>61703892
forth is great, u guys think temple OS is nuts... try colorforth on the GA144 puts terry davis to shame. Chuck moore built his own 144 core processor to run his own gay little language, its a lot of fun and you can understand it right down to the logic gates its so simple. C just turns you into a schitzo and makes you think cia niggers are following you
>>61704173
Isn't that like the only 144 core processor in existence?
Can my work see that I visit 4chan and if so how?
Yes. There are a plethora or network edge monitoring solutions that can report and alert on anything you can think of. That said, your company doesn't give a shit unless someone complains about you.
>>61703819
Come back after playing with Wireshark for a couple days
If you browse on a pc at work then ya probably. Its fairly easy to monitor the network traffic of devices on your network. If its your personal computer at home, or a smartphone or something, then probably not. Unless you browse on it while connected to your company's wifi, but unless its a company phone I dont think they could really track it back to you, it would just show up as a random device on the network.
What password manager should I use for maximum privacy and security, /g/?
keep ass x
I dunno, I use KeepAss
Your memory, brainlet.

"This is also a chance to learn from the benefits and shortcomings of existing solutions. We
should not just copy ZFS." Great.
"This is made possible by a hybrid, userspace-based approach." Better.
Section "2.2 Building upon existing projects" Evaluates existing projects but only mentions xfs and device-mapper. Perfect.
https://stratis-storage.github.io/
I'm a systems guy, but I generally work higher up the stack these days. Whats this going to get me? Will this eventually be the default rhel file system? Does this replace lvm?
>>61703978
Perhaps an updated xfs which replaces lvm.
I heard they hired on Terry Davis to lead the project.
How did YOU learn to code in Java? Youtube tutorials? Classes? Give your recommendation for people new to it
>>61703781
Every single day on this board, some new millennial comes along who apparently hasn't heard of books. What the fuck is wrong with these kids?

There is a reason Android phones have the worst market share to revenue rate of any brand. Android is a steaming pile of shit. The apps are absolute garbage, no better than Windows 10 Mobile apps. There are just more of them. Even the paid apps are fucking shit. Microsoft made Windows 10 Phones have superior hardware (especially cameras) to Samsungs of the same price. If you're over 21, you don't need >muh phone apps.
If you're out of college, there is literally no excuse for not owning an iPhone. All other phones are absolute shit. Worse apps, worse hardware, and worse warranties.
>muh removable battery
Buy a second iPhone, poorfag. You can get two phones with the same number, unless you live in Brazilica.
it's very difficult to argue with these facts so I'll just call you a doublenigger and move on to the next thread
Even if apple apps are better than those of other platforms, there's no denying that iOS itself sucks. It's not customizable and the interfaces are a toy. The same goes for OSX. Apple is for people who just don't care about software, and such people do not belong on a board for discussing such.
Aside from that, my main reason for using Android is to support open source and free software. I'm running LineageOS without gapps and only install libre apps. It's comfortable for me to be able to control exactly how my apps run and also to know that they were developed for the sake of providing people with this freedom. Apple and Microsoft OSes cannot provide this freedom because they are for people who just don't care about software.
>>61705166
>Aside from that, my main reason for using Android is to support open source and free software.
Some day you will turn 22 and stop caring.
