Is it really feasible (from technological standpoint) to program GAYMES to efficiently utilize 12 threads and beyond?
>>61753917
If you're not using a brainlet single threaded language like C or C++, yes
>>61753928
>can't thread in C/++
Yes, but most games that would require that kind of processing power are also the games that are made in 2 years by shitty corporations so they have no time to program it properly.
State of "Firefox Nightly"
>already deleted profiles.ini
>already deleted created new profile in profile manager
shit always appear everytime I click something in nightly
Works on my system.
>uses bleeding edge software
>complains it doesn't work
>>61753791
>uses unstable beta-alpha builds
>download site warns about it
>complains some shit don't work
I swear to god /g/, you were not always this stupid.
What the fuck happened?
>>61753776
It's ancient tech, but then again is so little space that I just ignore it.
If you're not doing any important tasks, sure
If you run out of memory you don't get any convenient warning about low memory though. Your application will just crash resulting in loss of data.
>>61753776
I had it disabled until Windows crashed because of low memory.
Why have a NAS if your desktop PC is running 24/7 anyway?
>>61753668
H0lySh1t, you are rite!
Raid0 with seagate & close thread now ok?
Honey, some people want to seperate file serving operations from regular computing operations so they don't drain each other's resources.
>>61754447
There's no reason why you couldn't setup a proper ZFS or btrfs RAID in your desktop PC.
>Beautiful evening.
>Decide to stream the ballgame in my garage for the first time in a while.
"I'll fire up the ol' laptop an hour early. Surely that will be plenty of time to get all those pesky forced updates downloaded and installed."
>90 minutes later...
>"Working on updates 12%. Don't turn off your PC. This will take a while."
How did this OS get so broken? What makes the update process so terrible?
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/turn-off-windows-update-in-windows-10
>using windows on a laptop
Windows is made for desktop computing.
>stream the ballgame
why would you need Windows to watch a video? Windows is a gaming OS, you should be dual-booting Linux and only using Windows for things Linux can't do.

Welcome to /flt/ - Friendly Linux Thread.
Users of all levels are welcome to ask questions about Linux and share their experiences.
*** Please be civil, notice the "Friendly" in every Friendly Linux Thread. Please use other boards to discuss ideology, /g/ is Technology ***
Before asking for help, please check our list of resources[*].
If you would like to try out Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine using VirtualBox or other software made for this purpose for safety reasons.
1) Use the Live ISO to boot directly into the Linux distribution without installing anything, that way, you can get to experience the Linux operating system without installing it.
2) Dual boot the Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or macOS, this is recommended if you want to know more about the Linux operating system.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with Linux.

galaxy s8 plus has a god-tier battery.
8 hours after work i'm down to 60%
>>61753468
I got a large battery (10000mah) for my note 4 and the battery life is about three days. Only thing I'm sacrificing is pocket space. Will most likely get the note 8 once mine craps out.
What made the 90s so great in terms of technology?
is it truly rose colored glasses or were computers/internet socially superior to what we have now?
>also thinly veiled nostalgia thread
green pcb and beige plastics
Nostalgia. The only thing that I miss is the sense of adventure on the internet, before everything was so consolidated.
>>61753158
>90s
>great
They weren't. It was that awkward in between stage where computers became casual in every household, but not internet. The games were very creative and spawned many franchises that still go on today, but it was overall just a super nerd hobby and you had to tinker with a lot of shit to make games run.
Kotlin just passed Rust and Haskell on the Pypl, and is now more or less tied with Go.
That was really, really quick. Apparently the Android endorsement made it grow Swift-ly.
>>61753123
it's ugly, I don't want it
>>61753123
>you now realise the Kotlin logo is a blue-skinned well-endowed man with an orange arm doing the Hitler salute
Why do people spend so much money on apple products when there are so many less expensive alternatives.
I can buy anything I want, but I look at the macbook pro and think its a terrible waste of money!
I am just interested in what you guys think regarding the mac.
>>61753120

Go on, name some products that are as good as a rMBP and cheaper.

What went so wrong with Japanese electronics, /g/?
20 years ago, companies like Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sharp, Sanyo etc dominated the electronics industry but today they are a mere shell of what they used to be like
Because JAV trap porn is on the rise. You can't have both simultaneously.
They moved to Korea
they are old as fuck. their time is over...
same path that Germany will go down quite soon
China is the new master
What ever happened to netrunner?
The same thing as every single /g/ project in existence. We made a logo for it and that was it.
End like most of /g/ project.
>>61753108
I wasn't allowed to make the logo
So this piece of shit basically segfaults every time it tries to compile something? Was there a more disastrous launch in the past?

Why don't you post a source or article or anything?
You cheap shit posting fuck.

Become freelance webdev or programmer?
>Shit retail job started cutting hours and only making enough to pay monthly bills and be left with like $150
I'm in community college, but I rather do something like this as job #2 then have another shitty job with asshole bosses and shit hours.
if you need to ask 4chan about this sort of thing you are not passionate enough to go through with this sort of thing. You need confidence (a trait you lack) to do freelance work.
>t.freelance web dev
>>61753213
Ive dabbled into html/css and c#. Really enjoy both, but would like to know which has more money in freelancing.
>>61753213

Lmao where this assumption coming from? How much you make bud?
