How's everyone's cut going?
I'm cutting before I do my bulk, mainly cause I go on holidays shortly and wanted to cut down to 10-12 percent fat before I bulk up.
One thing I've noticed is that if you need to lose more than you think you do. It's fucked. Hold all my weight on my cut. 6'1", 76kg and still cutting. Anyone else experience this too?
Anyway, cutting general.
Thinking of starting my cut when next month begins. Will weigh in around 85kg/187 pounds. I'm not that fat but there's some on the thighs and on the belly. Would you say I should cut or just keep gaining? Also, is it true that once your finishing your cut and are where you wanna be you'll look bigger than before because of the "enhanced" muscle definition or is that just bullshit?
My cut is going good so far. It's been 3 months and two weeks and I've lost 11kg. Started at 80kg. I'm about 19% bodyfat and like you OP, want to reach 10% before bulking up. I think I'm looking at another 6 months or more of cutting. Been having a cheat meal once a week. Swimming is my choice of cardio
Cut is going fine. First week was hell with constant hunger at 1700kcals, now it's fine. Like the body needed to accept it wasn't getting the usual load any more. I also do about 1 hour of cardio 5 times a week.
I'm at about 20% now, will continue at least until 15%. Getting ripped by July is the goal.
Good progress man, keep it up! For me it's taken a lot longer than I would of liked. I found I'd drop 2-3 kilos and then deal with a sticking point. Felt like I was constantly plateauing and then after ages I'd start to lose again.
I've done all mine for this holiday and now that it's here and I haven't quite met my goal, I dunno whether to keep cutting or just bulk and actually get some muscle mass behind me.
picture of right is a month old, i'm 6'0 and 165 lbs, should i cut for gains?
about 2 month in my cut and no changes. i'm running 4 times a week, gym 4 times/week and no weight loss, i'm doing IFasting, no way i'm eating over my calorie goal. My retarded self thought that maybe when doing lean cut the weight doesn't change, but I have to look at myself in the mirror but i'm starting to lose motivation
you can be a skinny fucking cunt and still have belly fat.. It is the most stubborn of fat and the last to go.
You're telling me you've eaten at a 500 deficit for 2 months and not lost a single kg?
If your not seeing results and going to the gym a lot try changing your workout and upping the intensity lower weight with higher reps. Depending on how long you usually workout you can cut down time and go for a more intense workout with shorter time.
I'm 70 % I have. I don't really count calories but I really watch out what I eat. Week day i eat first meal at 12, i have an apple if im hungry and dinner at 7pm after my workout.
Even when i feel like i ate to much I go for a run at night.
I was sure I was gonna get laugh at for saying this
You're right, just at pain in the ass to count all that food everyday but i guess i'm gonna punch myself until i do it
I guess you could try to guess the weight of most ingredients, like 200gram of chicken and 50gram of white rice or something. Alternatively, stop eating in the school cafeteria.. I hear most of those are absolute terrible for a proper diet.
It's only really hard the first couple weeks to a month, depending on how varied your diet is. If you eat mostly the same things on a day to day basis, eventually you don't need to keep weighing/calculating calories in something because you should already know. Shit's really easy once you get the hang of it anyways, but it's very important at first, if only for the sake of learning proper portions visually and starting to properly associate calorie values to the foods.
If you grew up in US/UK especially, it's very important to relearn portion sizing. You might think "oh I'll just eyeball it, no big deal" but a cup of rice is 200 calories, for example. That's a lot even if you measure it out, but if you're used to big portions and don't know any better, you could easily be putting 500+ cals of rice in your meal and guesstimating it to be way less. If you routinely use things like butter, oil, or peanut butter/nut butters, you definitely need to weigh it and log it. Counting calories is crucial to weight loss anon, you can't skimp on it.
>cutting, lost 11lbs
>weight today 169lbs
>stop eating in the school cafeteria.. I hear most of those are absolute terrible for a proper diet.
are you crazy? my dining hall had every kind of food you could want, prepared daily and right at your fingertips. as long as you're not a fat fuck, you could eat perfect /fit/ meals there.
At 80kg currently, bulking until the end of March, then getting shredded as fuck for summer time.
A big concern for me is how easily I went from 1800 cals per day to 2800, still with that hunger in my belly. I don't doubt I can get back down to whatever my cutting calories, but something tells me it's gonna be harder this time around.
Anyone been in a similar situation?
Started my cut in July, started at 98kg [FATASFATASS]%BF, sitting at 77.6kg right now about 14-17%BF.
I started lifting at the same time I started my cut and made some ok gains
(40->65/bar->80/20->110) but on some days now I don't have the strength to do 90% of my 5 rep max for 3 reps. Feelsbadman.
Can't wait to start my bulk after I hit 10% and hopefully hit 2/3/4pl8 within 6 months.
Starting to feel close to lethargic on some days in the gym.
>successfully lost 15 lbs
>realize tdee is really low
Well, fuck. Dinner the past two nights has been a pile of lemon-garlic swiss chard sautee (light on the oil), and some chickun.
I want to ask /fit/ if eggs and bacon are okay? Two eggs and a reasonable-small portion of bacon, possibly on two slices of rye (90 cals a slice.) I'm trying to eat more protons. It's end bacon, not the slice bacon. Not necessarily from trader joes.
It has retarded units so I don't know. But it's probably the equivalent of 3-4 slices.
The pic attached is my progress with 1600 calories a day. I've now reduced it further to 1200 calories a day due to stalling.
I'm planning on cutting to skeletal then doing a clean bulk as it seems to be the best way for skinny fats like me.
Can anyone advise my before and after BF%? I am thinking that before was about 30% and now about 20%.
That's ridiculous, 1200 calories is retard mode. Do more cardio/HIIT if you're stalling. I don't even understand why you're going for skeleton mode, just clean bulk from your current condition and do another cut in 6-12 months. Absolutely stupid to try to cut even lower from that position when you have no muscle at all. Wasting your beginner gains
I'm starting my cut now. I'm suddenly very poor.
I'm starting with:
>100 g rice
>400 g ground beef
>100 g oats
>400 g Greek yogurt
>100 g whey
>100 g blueberries
>25 g flax seeds
>20 g chia seeds
This equals about 2200 kcal.
I'll drop the amount of rice each day.
Should I add olive oil? I feel like I'm low on fats.
Am I fucked?
Why are hell are you reducing it to 1200 calories ??
Thats crazy, i found it hard as fuck to cut at 1700 calories, my strength went down and looked like an aids victim.
Now im eating at maintenance, 2700 calories, and doing Candito's 6 week strength, best thing i ever did , fuck extreme cutting, that shits crazy
Thanks dude. I know that feel too. It's annoying when you hit that wall and weirdly enough when that happened to me I found that eating MORE put me back on track. Perhaps it was a mental thing. I'd keep cutting in my opinion. At least you know you'd have a foundation to build upon with minimal fat. Whatever you decide all the best. We're gonna make it
I've been lifting for a couple of years now, the leanest I've ever been was around 15% BF. Throught the years I've made a lot of mistakes, when I would cut I would eat ridiculously little, I'm talking between 900 to 1200 calories a day sometimes even less (I'm 5'11), and while I lost a lot of weight I would always lose a lot of muscle, I'm talking months of progress and that was fucking horrible because its like I went back to square one.
I then said fuck abs and began bulking again and got some good gains after a couple of months and gained weight again, near to my starting point. And I did the same retard shit again hahaha can you believe it? So I thought that I simply didn't have abs and that that was my natty potential and I was forever doomed.
Then I bulked one last time and said fuck this, we're gonna do it the right way, got a digital food scale which is one of the best decisions in my entire fitness career and began using myfitnesspal.
I've dropped about a lot of pounds going from 20% BF to about 13% body fat while actually mainting my strength and muscle this time. Its been hard though because even though I'm cutting at 1650-1900 cals (depending on the day) I'm still hungry somewhat but the results are actually tangible this time.
Guys, get a food scale and count your calories, it realy makes a huge difference. I've never been as lean as I am right now.
you will cut to nothing then, build up some strength, eat alot of food but dont go over 3000cals, follow a good program not some bullshit roid program, Candito's is good...you dont need to cut at all, lift what is heavy for you and the fat on your body will go
What I do is whenever I have gym I'll eat something with sugar and carbs 10 minutes before gym, something like a granola bar.
Usually I feel lethargic when cutting while in the gym, but if I have that, then I'll be fine.
>How's everyone's cut going?
In the last 10 days I've been exceptionally ill, can't hold much food down, I shit out a bright yellow water like substance 4 times a day and need 11 hours sleep.
Despite me being unable to go to the gym due to general fatigue, I've lost 8lbs.
I'm a 6'4 male and I've cut on 1200 before because I was retarded, but I didn't find it extremely hard.
It was 500 grams of steak (4 steaks more or less) and 2 bananas per day basically.
no it's actually not bullshit, you just need to withstand the pain of looking smaller in cloths while not being fully shredded yet.
If you can make it through the mid-cut pain, you'll be fine, so just stick to it, anon.
Im not gonna lie, shit sucks, and you lose a lot of strength
no wonder why it is called a crash diet
did it for the luz for 40 days and I lost 8 kilos, it was ok but I'd never do it again, I'd rather do carb cycling (which Im doing now)
What do you guys think of my macros? I had a friend who went from being the fatass on the football team to one of the biggest guys in our town figure them out for me. He's also going to school for it, but I wanted to get /fit/'s opinion
5'6" Start weight: 152 lbs
183 g protein
25-40 minutes of cardio every day as we progress through the cut.
We both started the cut on the 3rd of January. Last 2 weeks I've been stuck at 142lbs. Progress is slow, but it's working. Anyone think I should change something on my macros or is it good?
What is actually the problem with cutting down to say 10-12% BF before bulking? I'm OK with being a skeleton for a while.
My current routine is based around 3x5 of each of the five big compound lifts every three days with as much weight as I can manage. Which is not much.
>hat is actually the problem with cutting down to say 10-12% BF before bulking?
You will lose muscle mass cutting that far, that's also the bf% most people will maintain to look good during summer, unless you are cutting to look good, don't go that far, start a slow bulk when you hit 15% and see how you go from there.
