welcome to /owg/ i lost the links edition
Because I'm a fucking worthless shitter, nobody likes me, I'm weak as shit and I hate my life.
I think I'm finally starting to get the winter blues m8, fuck. Don't mind me. Tomorrow I may be skipping school to hang out with this girl and smoke weed, idk. Maybe we'll make out or something idk. We have nowhere to go though. I don't know what to do. I don't want to go to classes either though, I don't know.. Maybe I do... Whatever.
I've considered it.. I'd like to rape women too.
Spines don't grow like that. And what if I told you I was a 14 year old tumblr emo?
I was confused at that snatch grip. I thought she was gonna do a clean at first.
Also btw sadlads can get strong lifting on angst as long as they eat enough
I dont know what to say now
Hm I'll try that. I usually lift like shit when I'm in despair though. I find I do best when I'm calm and content, energetic but not too hopped up either.
Yeah, I think the grip is totally appropriate for her. It just looks weird.
It's a Columbian lifter doing a clean and jerk?
have you ever been prescriped Xanax?
and yah i didnt know what it was due to the filename
these are older WebMs from the sticky
you can lift all the weight in the world, but you cannot lift all the feels m8
gotta figure the feels out first before the weight
No. Only psychotropic prescription I've ever had is Prozac, which I'm currently on now at 20mg every morning. I've never even taken Xanax recreationally.
Hm, maybe. I'm an oly lifter tho.. Coach doesn't program them. Maybe I'll do some heavy doubles or something when he isn't looking, heh.
>hysen will never sit next to you in podium gold while rubbing his knees
find a way to taper off the Px drugs, you will create a dependency for the drugs. That is if you already are not dependent on them.
If you cannot figure out the bug in your body's script, you will be dependent on that patch for the rest of your life.
>tfw this olympic level athlete is probably flipping burgers in albania because he got popped while the entire chinese team just pays off the right officials and never get caught
it fucks you up pretty bad when you are dependent on anti-depressants.
Only when you get off, or if you're having an adverse reaction in the first place.
it's not abadjiev, hysen only trained with abadjiev for a couple months then he went back home to train for london, it's his albanian coach fault that he got popped for london and again after 2014
I meant to upload this pic actually, wrong one.
Tonight i babied my wrist so the snatches looked weird. It hurt really bad until i got to 92.
Also i'm swapping squats for pause squats because my squatting technique is fucking garbage and is holding me back. Front squat i'm going to continue doing normal though
get some boxing wraps cut them to length i don't like using the whole thing it gets too thick the way i wrap, protect your ligaments in your wrists since those fuckers take forever to heal once they get fucked up, i failed a clean off the blocks last year and my wrists are still not 100% to this day
Yeah, I have an appointment with her soon. I also plan to talk to her about having my testosterone levels tested (and other hormones, but mainly test).
Any tips then? The other day when I was doing light power jerks I found My arms were rebending as I dipped down, like they fully extended and as I went under the bar they got tugged out of extension and re-extended. Idk how else to explain it.
u the anon from north ontario?
yes get all tested cant hurt, usually it wont be just one single one thats messed up
it might be that you are dipping too fast and the bar is crashing on you, control your dip more and drive through the midfoot
Yes I am. I plan to get a thyroid screen, testosterone, estrogen and the two main gonadotropins tested. That should cover everything that's relevant.
Ah I see. When I dip (to push the bar off the shoulders) should I dip down really fast or no? I think that may be part of my issue. I'm going too fast I guess, at least for now.
To add to this, idk why, but I find snatches and cleans quite intuitive, snatches even more so than cleans honestly. Idk why, but jerks I find so unnatural and unintuitive to me. It's weird to me.
I just did some "power jerks" without a bar or anything (aka jumping and moving around like a tard) slowly and it felt a lot better than when I do it fast.
I think it's just going too fast.
Yeah I'll try them with a pause. Pauses often help I find.
i like cleaning with straps, it forces you to meet the bar properly
i don't see a problem with it if you're not a retard, you can get fucked up snatching with straps too but because we don't see too many of those vids it's fine but cleaning with straps is bad because an american fuck got fucked up using them lmao
Yeah, at least I'm pretty good at snatches and cleans. Worst thing I have right now is not fully extending to catch it lower. But my clean and snatch are relatively good compared to my squat especially for a beginner.
Tho it's too bad my legs are weak as fuck and if I told you what I squat you'd laugh.
I PRed a 65kg power clean. Attempted 68kg but failed cuz didn't catch it deep enough, I could probably do a couple more kilo before it before it became full clean. I haven't really been doing the full lifts or maxing out on them because I'm newly training under a coach and he's treating me like a beginner for the most part.
I front squatted 65kg for 4 reps the other day too, and I hav gotten 70kg for 5 on back squat. Looking to get to 100kg (ideally for reps) by the end of winter. Trying to eat more, sucks that I only ate 2700 calories today.
from the sound of it you pretty much are a beginner, but the good thing is that with virtually no base, you can tailor your skills exclusively to WL
sounds exciting, anyway. I still tend to squat morning heavy because I'm so used to low bar from the PL days
people get their tits in a tangle over it because there's a video floating around of some guy falling backwards with like 190kg and breaking both wrists
yeah same, gf is mostly chinese though
I got the house special, with rare steak, tendon, tripe, and brisket
the waitress looked at me funny and asked twice if it was all for me
he tried to bail by jumping behind the bar but he's strapped in, he should've just kept his elbows up and fell down with the bar it won't even touch his chest
This is part of beginner program form "Ultimate Olympic Weightlifting: A Complete Guide to Barbell ". Is this program good?
Was hysen ever formally banned 4lyf? Last I heard he been popped again like a year ago pending b sample
His style is wild. Dat knee valgus. Dat head throwing. I kinda like it tho. He's like an amatuer with rough technique expect a fucking monster
Hey, that's what I'm here for :)
Did you year I PRed power cleans for 65kg? Feels good man. I attempted 68kg but failed it. I thought the little yellow plates were 1kg but turned out they were 1.5kg. Went for it anyway. Heh, maybe next time I'll try 66kg! Maybe I'll even start micrloading squats with 1kg each workout??
Powarlifter here, I have a question. When I compete, they always load the bar with all the plates, and then put the lock collars on. Why do they put mircroplates on the ends outside of the collars?
1pl8 = Bar + Big red plate on each side + Competition collars
2pl8 = Bar + Two big red plates on each side + Competition collars
3pl8 = Bar + Three big red plates on each side + Competition collars
Nah sorry, Im meming
I need help please
I skipped school to smoke weed and chill with a girl, I smoked and Im tripping out BAD TIME feeling and I just decidrd to go to the washroom and hide in a toilet stall and just wait for them to go and school to be over and go home
help me what do Icdo is my plan good? I cant handle this.. Just wait it out and go home later?? and hide from them?? Wtf do I do
Why bother tho. Everyone knows 1pl8 really means 60kg and if ur an oly lifters you'd just say it in kilos anyway
And most lifters don't train with comp collars anyway just use change plates
Nothing wrong with it
You tell her youre busy shitposting
Also, it wouldn't benefit you to have 1pl8 as 75 m8, cos then you wouldn't even be cleaning 1pl8 with that sickening 65kg powerclean ayy
Are there any good biographies or books about lifters/lifting/strngth sport in general that aren't just technical coaching books?
Stuff like the white prisoner. I'm surprised there's not more.
Why r u so nice I jut realized what you said
Im tripling out cuz some guy came up to me ans acted semi-intimidatng but also kindly
and FUCK IM QUESTIONING reality ai guess I cant go on but Im really ot doing well.. In sitting in a coffee shop 9n ky ph9nw casually eating and freaking out, I think some1 put meth in my weed
How did you guys get into weightlifting? Do you lift by yourself or do you have a coach?
I went today to meet a coach, but i was dissapointed. He didn't make me do any technique work, made me do cleans straight away. I asked if i should do some technique work first to learn the movement, but he said that there's no reason because it will come with time. I felt like i was doing the whole exercise wrong, but he didn't really care about that. Was this because it was my first time there? How was your first time?
same, mine made me do firt power snatches than full snatches in like 1 hours and a half.
it works for some gifted individual, i took me 1 year and a half to have a half decent tech by learning this way
This is what i'm afraid of. He was talking about like 2kg progression every month, "But kid, its almost 30kg in a year, and nobody will progress like that year after year."
But come on, if i get the technique right, my progress will be much faster at the beginning. Why should i just force the bar up and build a bad technique, won't it be harder to get rid of it afterwards?
I really thought that he'd give me just the bar and make me do top-down progression like in every WL book. But no, straight from the floor with little information. He was old as hell so i also felt that he didn't really connect with me.
>has he coached a lot of good lifters?
what are his credentials?
My coach for example has coached the Canadian national team and he has a plethora of national level lifters under his belt....
but like if everyone at the gym sucks and he hasn't had a decent athlete in years look somewhere else...
Any of you ever do pulls with a weight youve snstched and wonder how you managed it? Maybe it's cos I do them after a ton of snatches?
Also set a 3 rep PR on snatch despite feeling shitty. This auto regulation 'try to set some kind of PR every session' seems to be working. Although only see my coach once a week so expecting a bit of a rough session soon
just shy of a month.
i-is this WADA approved
i know... i had a gymnast helping me stretch the other night and her first comment after pushing down on my shoulders was
>oh wow.... your shoulders muscles are bigger than my hands (in a non-sexual way).... no wonder you're having trouble stretching....
I might just have to be more patient than other individuals even.. which is of course, not one of my strengths...
I've done something similar using the rouge rig....
I've never jerked or push pressed more than 300 lbs / 136 kg.....
And i've never cleaned more than 245 lbs until recently....
should be interesting...
>skinny 75kg kid that cant squat 100kilo
>just unironically semi-arranged a consentual sex deal
what has happened to me? Im such a normie.
>not ironically tipping ur fedora to girls
A sprinter who medaled in 1996 (I think) wrote a letter saying there was state supported doping, we all know the top guys are on top drugs, but whether this will lead to any tangible proof of doping in Chinese wl remains to be seen.
What do you think about this program? Can novice do it?
Five days a week.
For example, monday
1. Hyperextension with oly bar, 3 x 10
2. Power snatch
+ press behind neck
+ snatch grip overhead squat
3 x 2 + 2 + 2
3. Snatch grip deadlift from platform
+ snatch from platform
3 x 2+1
4. Snatch grip deadlift from platform
3 x 3
5. Snatch grip hrugs
5 x 5
6. Snatch grip overhead press
3 x 3
im not going to pretend like i know more about weightlifting than klokov but i would think its better for a beginner to do mostly classics with some accessory stuff after like pulls or snatch balance
>i would think its better for a beginner to do mostly classics
I thought beginner should do parts of classic lifts more and classic lifts rarely with low weights, just for technique.
Hyperextensions, 3x10, careful with weight (don't use too much I guess)
Muscle sn + btn sn press + ohs 2+2+2 / 3 sets going up in weight
Deficit snatch deadlift + deficit snatch, with straps 2+1 / 3 sets going up in weight
Deficit snatch deadlift 3 reps / 3 sets going up in weight
"Trapi" which are his swinging upright rows with snatch grip, 5x5 same weight
Snatch grip behind neck press 3 reps / 3 sets going up in weight
Hyperextensions, 3x10, same weight
No hook snatch 2 reps, "as heavy as needed"
no hook snatch deadlift 2 reps, "as heavy as safe"
hook grip snatch deadlift 2 reps, as above, heavier
strapped snatch deadlift 2 reps, as above, heavier
Trapi 5x5, as above
slow descent and long pause Back squat + front squat with the same weight as one set, 1+1 3-5 sets going up in weight
Barbell squat jumps, 3-5 sets of 10 reps, careful with weight
Clean + front squat + push press + pause jerk, 1+1+1+1, 3 sets, going up in weight
Clean grip deadlift + shrug extension, 3+3, 3 sets going up in weight, with straps, going up in weight
Press from rack 3 reps, 3 sets, "with care" heavier lifts
Hyperextensions 5x10, careful with weight
Pause Snatch at knee with straps, 1 rep, 3-5 sets going up in weight
Snatch deadlift + snatch stiff leg deadlift + snatch deadlift + snatch stiff leg deadlift 1+1+1+1, 3 sets going up in weight
Snatch grip BTN push press + OHS 2+2 / 3 sets going up in weight
Sots press 3 reps, 5-6 sets with same weight
Power clean + push press 1+2, 3 sets going up in weight
Clean grip deadlift, 3 reps "all the weights" (literally, lol), so I assume that is some sort of daily max, then one set of 10 reps
Back squat, 2 reps "all the weights", then one set of 10 reps
Barbell squat jumps, 5x10, steady weight
What weightlifting exercises are the most useful for beginners?
I am not a coach. From my experience, I would recommend the basic exercises: Squats, Pulls, and Presses with correct technique. When you see how people train, they have incorrect technique that doesn’t translate into Snatch, Clean, and Jerk. Weightlifting beginners (crossfitters in particular) should not start the classic lifts straight away because their muscles and joints are not ready.
