About 6 years ago the only thing stopping me from having 4/3/2/1 plate lifts was bench press. I hit 97.5kg a few times but failed 100kg many times.

6 years on and it still bothers me. Dont do the same.

The advice I've heard about overcoming plateaus is if you want to improve a specific lift, just do it more often. Worked for me and deadlifts.

I had a similar problem. Personally, I found that dealoading helped. I fell for the /fit/ meme of lifting for numbers instead of strength. Once I realised that an attitude like that wouldn't get me anywhere, I lowered the weight and felt a way better burn. Managed to progress smoothly after that.

Even if you're able to do a weight, you have to think about whether you can actually do that weight. If your form suffers from going too heavy when you can't handle it, your lifts will plateau and you'll feel like shit. You've got your whole life left to lift, don't worry about not being the best right now, it's not a race.

What's you chest routine? And what are you benching for reps usually? Often it helps to focus on benching a little bit more for reps and putting a lot more focus into strengthening your stability muscles for a particular lift. That way you'll use your main muscle groups less for balancing the weight and more for moving it.

i lift sundays, tuesdays and fridays

group A is squats, bench, seated cable rows
accessory work: leg press, dumbbell rows, incline bench
group B is assisted pull ups, deadlift, shoulder press
accessory work: reverse dumbbell fly, barbell row

i'm sure my form is correct, i lift with somebody who is experienced

For reps? I can bench 5x5 for 40 (i think) and my current routine is doing 3 sets of warmup and then doing 3x5 but i've failed on the last set of 42.5 the last 3 weeks in a row. the second week i failed earlier than the first

i'm 5'10" and 68kg but was severely underweight (about 50kg) until late 2013

i just finished a set A workout and my bench has gone to 45kg although i failed on the last set, but at least it's moved. 5kg added to my squat too and it was fine so it's not nutrition so much, i added dumbbell press today too so i'm hoping destroying my chest will help with some more gains
