I'm thinking to take some classes of boxing in the summer. So far I got one friend of mine who knows simple thing like stance punches combos etc to show me and I do some light work(and as cardio) on a heavy punching bag. So far only with some light mma type of gloves and they hurt my hands a bit. I bought some bandages and probably are gonna help. At the end of the month I'm gonna buy a regular pair of boxing gloves so I will be alright. Do any of you who do boxing have any tips, books or even simple workouts that I can learn on my own ?

4. Complexity

Honestly, i wonder why this isn't expanded on more. Fighting complexity is one of the biggest reasons i fell in love with it. The sheer mindgames and tactics involved alone far outclass shit games like chess or starcraft.

Hell, the level of comp is so high you need to be trains from child and naturally gifted to go somewhere.

Mostly because assholes like me stand around reminding everyone about it and picking on newbies

example

>>35737690
>WAHHH WAHH MY SHIN HURTTTTTTTSSSSSSS

>I've been doing it a week i like sparring!

Legit, i think a person's age should be measured in years of martial experience. Because it'll show how mature people actually are. OP is a faggotoddler. I'm a 13 year old, mixie is a year older then me, and only people like >>35738043
are mature at all but prolly too old to compete now
>>

>1. Where are you from?
UK
>2. What martial arts do you do?
BJJ
>3. How long have you done it?
8 years
>4. What do you like about it
it's fun, a great workout and the risk of injuries is relatively small compared to other martial arts. Also there's almost an RPG element to it. You have a set of skills that you can use in different situations, and as you practise you realise what skills you're lacking and what you have to improve, so you look at the gym timetable and try to find a class that will work that particular skill, but some of them can only be unlocked with a particular belt. Almost like going through your character's skills tree in Skyrim. This probably sounded retarded as fuck but it's seriously part of the reason why I love BJJ.
>5. What do you hate about it
Good gyms are expensive, tournaments have some ridiculous rules that don't allow the fight to flow (why I'm getting more into no gi lately), rolling with people with poor hygiene and being too polite to tell them to go wash themselves.

>The bitches. My martial art is from the military of korea and the competition of the world stage of tae kwon do. 80 million people worldwide do TKD. We are the largest martial art of course we have more weakness. Look at MT/MMA, same thing happening.

Oh the other hand, TKD is literally the hardest workout you can put yourself though, esp in terms of anaerobic pressure. The two things you do are jump and kick. You need to yell and regulate your breathing just to get enough oxygen.

Forgot to add, to my TKDominators, he favored dwichaggi, i love to aim for the headspin and i'ma huge believer in covering yourself for lower risk spins, so i went for the safest spin kick. Was bonus round to hard tourney, tired, 360 RH to the shoulder became 360RH to the neck.

Legit they didn't even give him a 10 count, they just told me to get the fuck out the way and make sure he's not too fucked up

Ironically, i hate RH but all of my knockouts are from RH kicks. I do love the mechanics of 360rh tho

I'm from the u.s.a.
2 years taekwondo
7 years muay thai
4 years wrestling
1 years bjj
3 months judo
1 year boxing
Weightlifting and strength training 12 years

My goal? To become a pro boxer.
Reason? The orgs for muay thai is a giant shithole in the u.s., and mma is fucking terrible when it comes to bodily injuries from fights that allow being dropped on your shoulder and tiny ass gloves which even top UFC champs have shit form because they're afraid of the tiny ass gloves that also feel like your fists have no weight on them when you fight.

My regrets? Spending so long wasting on every other martial art and weightlifting. Only after so long I realize I only really held onto weightlifting and muay thai because they were fun. They do almost nothing for boxing except maybe some shoulder work or once a week full body at most.

I fucking love how useless heavy squats really are when it comes to fighting. I've gone hard on lifting and reached a 405lbs belted atg squat at 175lbs.
As soon as I shift gears for more sparring, jump roping, bag hitting, and lean eating, I go down to struggling really hard with 255lbs squats at 155lbs.
Maybe it's just because I never took steroids, but in my experience they just don't match at all.

> 3. How long have you done it?

> 4. What do you like about it

It is very straight-forward. If something works, you can do it. No funky katas or other filler.

> 5. What do you hate about it

Nothing. The sport is great! Just wish more chicks would do it. I like sparring with them - good for optics AND learning. They are fast and if you mess up, you know what you need to fix, but still do not get hurt because they have no power.
>>
>>35741797
I also noticed this.
>>
>>35744628
If you think that the Orgs in America for MT suck, try going to Thailand. HAhahahaha. They are on a whole nother level of suck.
>>
>>35746950
The entire sport of muay thai is garbage for the fighters. Buakaw is probably the only one who gets paid more than a hundred dollars per fight. He gets paid like ten thousand per fight only as a face of the top to get others to keep joining muay thai. Even then buakaws manager takes more than half his money, threatens buakaw with guns to keep fighting, and buakaw lives in a tiny dirty room with 3 other men. He truly is the "dog of Thailand."

They try to brainwash fighters into doing it for "honor" and "be a champion of history" when its simply a small country of Thailand trying to prove that their race is stronger through corrupt refs and corrupt systems. Foreign muay thai fighters who became champs couldn't even afford to keep their belt because they made them pay for the belts while giving them next to nothing. Even guys like Ramon dekkers who went all the way pretty much died in his 50s or something as a muay thai teacher.

It's a disgusting sport you should never try to be a part of professionally. You will never make any money. You will be the target of racism and corruption. You will be treated as less than human no matter how hard you try.

If you want to be in fighting, amateur boxing is definitely the most controlled and well done of the bunch. Of course it means you're gonna be fighting a bunch of Africans with arms 3 feet longer than yours.

Even the whole muay thai craze was thanks to MMA to start with anyways. It's literally a cash cow for stupid angry kids to pay them $140 a month.
Boxing gyms cost about $20 a month if its sanctioned by the US government.
