Gravity according to Einstein is different from Newtonian Gravitiy.
Basically when an object "falls" down its not the object falling down to earth its earth accelerating upwards towards the object.
That means u actually dont lift the weight in the air or put it back down it stays where its at.
Whatever I "think" is going on is secondary. Results of my actions are all that matter.

By moving two objects with mass away from each other, energy is required regardless of the relative positions.
