Alrigt /fit/, before the gym IN THE MORNING, what do you have for breakfast?
In trying to improve my diet as of now I just have a protein shake and then im at the GYM. Im not sure if thats my best choice, what would be best for energy?
I almost never eat breakfast. I'm always in too much of a rush in the AM because I smack that snooze button like Ray Rice does his wife.
If I am up early enough for breakfast it's hash browns, sunny side up with some hot sauce and a few sausage links.
give it at least 45 mins to ward off any reflux and mid lift burps and give your enzymes time to fully digest some of the initial carbs for energy.
That banana and oats will keep you going well beyond lunch
Thanks, i just lost nearly 21kg worth of fat in 3 months , went from 115 to 93, working in a factory, plus minor dieting, cutting out soda and such, and now that im gonna start swimming and running, i was really confused about what to eat and when, before exercise and such
The only thing to think about in regards to WHEN to eat is 'when do i need energy?'
dont get caught up on the 'eat six times a day' or 'dont eat 2 hours before sleep' or 'muh metabolism' shit. if you put it in you it becomes energy, all that varies is when.
are you breathing properly? shitty breathing techniques will kill your potential.
I cant tell you your own limits, just go until you are uncomfortable, then go a bit further and see what happens. Stop if it worries you.

Just what I read anon. They had three different groups of men try eating before and after the gym and one group not go at all (control group) the men that ate after their workout lost 2 more lbs in a month the the other groups.
I try to breathe whenever i lift one foot off the ground
From a guy that works nearly 12 hour shifts some days packing boxes and putting them on pallets, do you think there would be any harm to me if i push myself while running? I'm on my feet nearly all day at work, unless im on break which is just 1 hour and 30 minutes

in through nose, out through mouth, and breath in for as long is comfortable then purse your lips and breath out. dont blow off too much CO2 or you will get dizzy

Here's my quick before gym bowl:
Flat, wide bowl
Add some oats
Add some water (~1:1, until they just barely start to float)
Pop in microwave while gathering other stuff
Stir halfway through cooking if you'd like, often helps overflowing from bowl
As soon as done, crack an egg into it
Stir egg into oats immediately (oats retain a lot of heat and the egg will cook into the bowl of oats)
Add a little protein powder (optional)
Top with berries (optional)
Add a little milk to moisten
Consume and get ready to lift

1/2 cup fat free greek yogurt
3-4 tablespoons of brown sugar

It's obviously important not to use too much egg > oat.
Even if it's evidently not cooked through, pop it back in the microwave for like 15 fucking seconds and it'll be done
