How do people not get enough protein in their diets.
I hear everyone whining about not getting enough protein per day. A good piece of chicken breast is like 100g.

>>
That's literally a pound of chicken breast

8oz of chicken breast has 374 calories, 8.1g of fat, and 70g of protein

you niggas need to learn to diet
>>
Some of us don't eat chicken.
Some of us are vegan.

Well there's your problem.
>>
>>35687825
A pound of boneless skinless chicken breast has 105 grams of protein.
>>
>>35688370
>Some of us are vegan.
So you don't have any gains at all, then.

Oh and by the way does that mean that you don't use any animal products or by-products of any kind, too, or are you one of those morons that says 'vegan' and really means 'strict vegetarian'?

Since this is a protein thread I guess:

I have been training for 2,5 months and was on a rather low-protein diet. bc I dont eat animal protein (pls no bully).

My plan is to buy gluten to make seitan because
>very high protein (legitimately 70g per 100g without water)
>very cheap

Now my plan was to consume 200 g of gluten which translates to about 400g of seitan (after adding water) every day over different meals, which would equal about 140-160g of protein (I am 200 pounds).

Together with normal food, I would hit my protein macro quite well.

Anything retarded about this plan? I heard that wheat protein is less "valuable" (amino acid profile etc) for the body, can I do something about that? Is that just bro science?

Any reason why noone else does that, considering it is dirt cheap?

Sorry if those are dumb questions but all the nutrition stuff is super confusing.

You're just repeating a meme. It's not hard to get big vegan and not hard to eat a lot of vegan protein, I had 192 grams yesterday without supplements. This is really getting old. Keep mirin, I can eat 192 grams of protein and shit with ease and still lift heavy + wife. The days of commiefornia faggots vegans are over brah

Aside from not including delicious nutritious meat?
Yes, there is: your 'gluten' or 'seitan' or whatever is going to be deficient in at least one amino acid, and that will malnourish you in the long run. Also a healthy diet includes a variety of foods, not just a few you keep eating over and over again ad infinitum. Vegetarian or not, I suggest you re-think what you're doing if you're serious about gaining lean muscle mass and strength.

>>35689481
I'm not repeating any memes at all. I have friends that are strict vegetarians or actual practicing vegans, and they're all skinny or skinnyfat, weak, have strange recurring health problems, and quite frankly they all seem to have some sort of cognitive deficit in one area or another that makes them a little too strange at times even for someone like me to fully understand. I don't believe in what they do even if I accept it's their choice, I believe we're omnivores and I'm tall, healthy, strong, and quick, and have an above average IQ to boot. I also believe if you've got gains as a strict vegetarian that you've taken the harder road and have done it for no damn good reason, too.
>>
>>35689499
Yeah all that environemtalism., not having colon cancer, animal slaughtering, cost, cognitive dissonance and favoritism,.... I mean making gains and shopping at the supermarket like you do anyway is so hard.... If your vegan "friends" have health problems they probably got that way on a meat based diet. Also appeal to nature, this country was built by niggers, we should totally do what got us here. Also ignore the fact that your ancestors and you have absolutely nothing in common dietary wise. You are probably some supermakret shopping weanie crying about people's diet on the internet. It's quite possible to get big and strong without meat. FFS even Arnold Schwarzenegger says meat eating is unsustainable. Vegans can compete with meat eaters on every level and no slaughtered animals took us there. Garuntee if you had to kill each animal you consume, you would not be eating as much meat. Dogs are omnivores BTW, humans share very little in common with nature's omnivores. Man also raped and killed one another to get here, be sure to follow that, see you in ad Max
>>
>>35689464
Just eat quorn, it's not far off chicken protein wise.
>>
>>35689556
The world isn't going to stop eating meat, ever, so I guess you'll just have to cry yourself to sleep at night, won't you? By the way aside from your many incorrect assumptions about me, the way I live, and people I know, ad hominens and strawman arguments, your so-called 'facts' are highly subjective and as a result highly suspect, and by the way, a little secret about me: I'm almost 51 years old, tall, strong, healthy as a proverbial horse, race bikes as a hobby, and I eat delicious nutritious meat every single day, so get off your moral high-horse, buddy (oh I'm sorry you wouldn't even ride a horse now would you? You'd let the horse ride YOU wouldn't you? My mistake!) and stop being such a goddamned SJW for so-called vegans.
>>
>>35687551
Meal timing is mostly broscience, but one thing that isn't is the fact that your protein should be distributed throughout your meals. MPS is maxed after like 40g of protein. Sure, all the protein you eat is absorbed, but ideally you're trying to use it for muscle, right?

You seem to think that I care about this world going to hell in a handshake when I live with no neighbors, surrounded by guns and woods. I don't stay up and cry about people eating meat and kill helpless animals who just want to live just as much as I don't cry about some of you faggots posting that faggots with tits are superior to biological women. I eat a nutritious diet as well and have near perfect health screens while I'm not the one lying that you can't make gains, you are. BTW strength training is not conducive to overall health. You're the SJW acting like your damn feelings trump other living things, the embodiment of leftist delsuions.
>>
I used to think that whey is a meme for lazy faggots, but eating chicken and cottage all day every day gets really fucking annoying. I'd rather dump a few scoops to get it over with
>>
>>35689604
no it isnt
there are countless studies refuting the 40g protein a meal thesis, I cant be bothered to serach for them so feel free to ignore me but the 40g protein a meal is in fact broscience
or just wrong science, however you wana call it
>>
>>35687551
That's the world's largest chicken breast.
Anyways, most proteins require preparation, i.e. cooking. I bet half of /fit/ are useless college frats and scrawny 14 year olds who live with their mom. Both of these include not being capable enough to cook.

communist faggot
>>
>>35689714
from a purely ethical standpoint, why should eating a pig be moral but eating a retard be wrong?
>>
>>35689714
Communism like all leftism embody the fact that if we as a force (the state) can over power people and take shit from individuals. Ends justify the means and so on. Enjoy being cucked that capitalism, socialism, and comminism all undermine the freedom of individuals and increase the size and scope of government and technological induced serfdom. So in conclusion vegans are the preferred group in today's society or pure self sustaining hunters. The fact is too many goddamn people are on this planet and they all want the same post modernistic pampered lifwstyles but to a gym barby trying to Fuck dumb whores I might as well be speaking in tongues.

Ingested protein dose response of muscle and albumin protein synthesis after resistance exercise in young men.Am J Clin Nutr. 2009.

A moderate serving of high-quality protein maximally stimulates skeletal muscle protein synthesis in young and elderly subjects.Journal of the American Dietetic Association, 2009.

Well, the first study showed that when college-aged weight-trainers drink 0g, 5g, 10g, 20g, or 40g of protein after a weight training session, muscle protein synthesis is stimulated maximally at the 20g dose. Interestingly, there were no further increases in muscle protein synthesis at the 40g dose.

Similarly, in the second study, when young and elderly volunteers were given 30 or 90g of dietary protein in a single meal, the 30g dose maximally stimulated muscle protein synthesis. Again, there were no further increases in muscle protein synthesis at the 90g dose.

Hold on to your butts, /fit/. We got a broscientist here.
>>
>>35690008

Okay, so this looks quite good, but then I'll raise you these two:

Protein feeding pattern does not affect protein retention in young women . J Nutr. (2000)
Intermittent fasting does not affect whole-body glucose, lipid, or protein metabolism . Am J Clin Nutr. (2009)

The titles are pretty self explanatory. Both studies showed no significant changes in protein metabolism with different protein intake patterns. Admittedly, the second study was pretty short and looked only at lean mass as far as protein metabolism goes. But I also don't like your second study very much, since it seems they only look at 30g vs 90g in a single meal, and not 90g vs 3x30g and the subjects were largely sedentary during the study. I just skimmed through them though, don't have time to read them whole right now.

I'd say I'm not convinced one way or another really, but now I understand what you meant with your first post.

Thanks for being so agreeable
In my (DYEL) opinion if it even does matter it only does a little bit. I just do it anyway since it just makes sense to me, same with post workout protein and some quark before bed. It can't hurt, right?
