I'd just tell you to be wary about squating every day if you're fat with big thighs
if you're a spooky skeleton then I wouldn't worry about it as much.
I was about 200 when I started lifting, and my routine was squats every workout for about 6 months. I lost a weight, but ironically my thighs got bigger and I had issues with fitting into my jeans.
In fact, if you're a skele you shouldn't bulk and cut, just eat above maintenance.

I definitely got strong as hell, now I'm doing PPL. I think it was a good beginner routine but I definitely could've squatted less.

Try it out for a bit see how it goes. Really depends on how big your thighs are now. You could consider doing 3x5 instead of 5x5, but if you wanna take it down to one workout day I'd rotate between front squats and back squats each time 'squat day' came up.
