Say whatever you want, it takes only a few months from never exercising to being able to run several miles in one go, another few months and you do it in 20 mins without getting that tired. 20 mins, just 3 days a week can burn over 1000 calories easy, which can be a tipping point into good weight loss for many people.

First off, the only way you can lose fat is by cutting calories and eating below your caloric maintenance level. That being said, added cardio can help speed up the fat burning process.

IMO, swimming is BY FAR the best form of cardio due to the water absorbing your body's heat causing you to burn calories much greater than any other type of cardio. This is why Olympic swimmers have to eat huge often 4-5k+ in order to stay in shape and they still look lean as hell. It's also an exercise that helps build your lats and shoulders while not impacting your joints. It's not joke that swimmers are usually the most aesthetic looking out of most cardio exercisers

I was going to post in the fat persons thread. But maybe you can give me some insight. I'm a really big dude. No joke like 330lbs. I didn't used to get fat until I got really depressed and shit. That being said it's not easy for me to work out like normal people do and I still cannot afford the gym. I used to do swimming a lot before I got fat and now I just 1) cannot afford it 2) too embarassed to join a gym even if I had the funds.

What I've been doing is trying to eat better...which sometimes I fail at and then trying to get some kind of exercise in that is managable for my weight and heart. I have been doing jogging in place/dancing/jumping jacks basic moves like that until my heart rate/temp goes up and then chilling for a minute until doing it again. I've been doing this off and on throughout my day. I'm trying to get 20 minutes of this minimum a day. I even do it in the shower and I make sure it is cold, because I heard that is better for losing weight. I do not know if that is true. I would like to be at least 280 before I start going out and trying to run again.

You don't have to cut calories if you switch to a high intensity workout-by this I mean for example a good swimming program that takes around at least 2 hours to complete, not HIIT-. I usually spend September-March mainly by lifting and then switch to mainly swimming when March-August. All with same nutrition.

Well, everything I'm going to say you heard before. You can basically lose tons of weight by sitting on your ass and not eating as much. It's "that" easy but obviously for a fat person it's difficult.

As for your cardio, what you're doing it pointless and a waste of time. Unless you have a real heart condition I think you are just nervous to push yourself. You have to break that barrier mate...you won't get results if you don't go past that point of pain. Like everyone you are assuming that the gym is too embarrassing and everyone is thinking about you. I can't tell you otherwise since I won't convince you but it's not true, nobody cares and people actually think it's awesome that you are making a difference in your life. Also, for really fat people, I think doing cardio is better than lifting weights if you want to pick only one.

tl,dr: eat less dude, literally don't put food in your mouth. suffer the pain of discipline or suffer the pain of regret, there is no easy way. there is no magic answer, you know exactly what you need to do so just fucking do it

Eh, most people don't know how to really count and figure out their caloric balance and intake when combined to cardio. If you are really trying to lose fat you will no doubt lose it faster if you cut calories by like 300-500 instead of doing the same and trying to do a harder workout which I believe is the point of the thread

Usually the fat-shame threads here target obese people who are ignorant about not wanting to change their lifestyle/believing they are healthy. Honestly dude, I just came back from the gym and I didn't even look at anyone there because I was too busy (like everyone else) doing their own shit. I've seen plenty of overweight dudes struggling away and no one cared. Not even the intimidating group of "tap out" t-shirt wearing Polish MMA guys cared.

As for swimming pools, I can understand, but usually you get a lot of hairy 50 year old men doing laps. They're like sacks of meat at that age and give zero shits about what anyone thinks. If they don't care why should you? Also swimming will be easy on your joints, I can imagine going straight into the gym might make your joints fuck up from the shock of running etc. I was a bit overweight and got shin splints and totally messed myself up from trying too much too soon.

Go for it meng, you can get back what is yours. If you don't do anything you will stay the same so it's really in your hands to decide!
