I try eating a lot for a week and see no progress except the added weight of what's in my stomach at the time.

If I look muscular it's just an illusion caused by low bodyfat

I tried lifting recently but I was dependent on my roommate to get to the gym and he stopped going. I have no other use for a car so I've never wanted one

Other than that I've never exercised at all

You get hungry by excercising. Turn off the computer, go out for a walk, and if you reach the monkeybars try to do some pull ups. Also take time for some push ups, squats and dips. Do more than 3 sets of each.

You'll feel sore next day, but you'll do exactly the same, and so on for a week. After that, you body will have conditioned itself for work out and you will begin to work out with actual weights, and during that conditioning week your appetite will open up.

actually I just made a rice thing which is 675 calories

Earlier today I had two fried chicken thighs and a waffle, and later tonight I'll probably have at least a bowl of ice cream. I also had two glasses of sweat tea total

I know it's not much but that's how much I normally eat in a day and you'd think it would be enough

If you eat a proper large meal after a workout, you should have consumed a surplus of calories.

Post workout time period is most important to cement gains by eating.

it perpetuates the myth that some people have really fast metabolisms and fatties use that as an excuse to eat ten jars of peanut butter a day.

Wtf. Now listen to me and do this:
Calculate your TDEE (google it, it's easy), it's the amount of calories youneed per day
Eat above that figure (like 200-300 kcal more, so if it's 2000 kcals you eat 2300 kcals)
Try to eat 0.8g of poteins per pound of bodyweight (so in your case about 70 g per day), the rest will be carbs and fats (~0.5g of fats per pound of bodyweight)
Lift weights (read the sticky for that)

You HAVE to count your calories, trust me, and even if it seems hard or boring it's actually very simple and will become natural. Eat healthy foods and go for foods with high kcal content (like peanut butter). You won't be able to eat above your TDEE at first, but try to progress toeard that.
Also, read the sticky because it has a lot of valuable informations
