Developing rear delts makes your shoulders look wider and makes them look more capped because of the way it orientates your side delt. I made mine bigger by doing drop set face pulls, ( make sure your elbows are lower than your shoulders when you do them to isolate your rear delts and focus on pulling the shoulders back before the arms. Trust me you will be grateful for this advice later.

i already fucked up my shoulder in the past by not doing too much rowing/pullups and by doing too much benching/ohp

now every time i train upper back i do some form of pullups followed by db rowing and 3-5 sets of rear delt rows (kind of like the usual db row, but with flared elbows. you try to pull the weight with your rear delts and not with traps)
these burn so hard they make me drop the dumbbell when i do 5 sets of 8-12 of them
i also found this helps a lot to prevent that slouching look

high volume is the only way to train upper back

They're definitely a good compound lift, yes.

Add with push ups (even better if they're slow) and it is enough to have a solid frame at low enough body fat.

Hard to pin down what causes that. Could be your forearms lagging behind, could be a strong biceps or could just be a lack of coordination of the back/shoulders.

Just try to pay attention on how you do those exercises. I know many curlbro-type of people who can millions of chinups, but not a single full ROM pullup, as they are mainly pulling themselves up using their arms. You don't have that possibility with pullups (that's probably the reason why many people feel that those work the lats better). You may just want to do more pullups.

I feel you bro. I've been lifting nearly 2 years and my pull ups have actually went down. At the start of lifting I could pull off 8 or 9 pull ups depending on what exercises I had done before them. Now that I've been bulking for so long, I can only do 4 maximum, usually can only do 3. To be fair I only do pull ups once in a blue moon just to see where I'm at with them, but it feels bad mang. I thought adding a shit load of weight to OHP and bench would make my pull ups better ;_;

Dude I don't know how different bouldering is from rock climbing but in rock climbing we use our legs and technique before brute strength. I mean it's cool to muscle up using your arms and back but it's inefficient. Try weighted pull ups and chin ups, that will help your free weight pulls go up

It's taken four long hard years of work with negatives and an assistance machine, but I can finally do 7 with good form and my entire body weight (yes, I do weigh over 200 pounds, how did you guess).

I'm still slowly improving, basically still a beginner, with minor gains every week, even as I've been doing intermediate free weight programming for over a year. Hoping to make it to 3x15+ this year, and then start on weights.

Shouldn't be. I actually swim twice a week, do BJJ on Saturdays, and free weight training three days a week.

I am 2.5 months into lifting. yesterday, I got to the point where I did one chin up rep that might have counted as a chin up (bar was about chin height, maybe a bit lower, maybe a bit higher).

did I fuck up that it took so long?

I do full body every other day, the pulling part is:
I attempt 2 chin ups, then do chair assisted chin ups until failure (got that from a scooby video). I do 5 sets.

I do 3x8 (the number that I am at now) bodyweight rows (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvkIaarnf0g) with feet on the ground. my back touches the ground between the reps bc not enough space at home.

I then do 3 sets of curls for the girls for 3x8 (again, the number that I am at currently) at 11kg per dumbbell.


did I fuck up somewhere?
