Go look up the studies monitoring protein synthesis concerning pre and post workout nutrition.
If you have it before, synthesis actually almost doubles. When you have it after, the difference was an increase of about 7%, which is almost negligible.
And at any rate, you're not going to "waste gains" having extra nutrition, idiot.

I happen to be a medfag and consuming any kind of food, specially brotein, is gonna get wasted as you will probably get diarrhea after an hour of working out. All the blood is pumping to your muscles and there is a low flow to your digestive system. Nothing works without oxygen so you're pretty much being a dumb fuck if you eat before working out.
