Instead of being a SS faggot & doing 5 rep sets with miroplates to progress; why not do 8-12 reps & press by adding reps. 2.5lb is fine for progression. Just add more reps with the same weight (I'm not saying to do over 12 reps or anything stupid, but you should be able to go from 12 reps to 8 reps when you increase by 5lb... you dont need microplates)

That forever part took about a month, of course I didn't straight from 3x8 to 3x10 their was crap in between like 10-8-failure(usually 6 or 7) it wasn't until I could comfortably, and I use this word strongly because lifting to failure could easily lead to another dislocation, that I could push out 3x12 with an extra set to near failure that I added extra weight back at 3x8

But then again I just got into that habit from my physio so I took his word for it that that is a safe form of progression and that it has been working for over a year, sorry if it doesn't match with a strangers better plan on a Bosnian haberdashery forum

Buy and use small lengths of chain. You can buy chain in a hardware store, they will cut it for you in 1 and 2 lbs pieces. Connect the ends of each piece with a small carabiner to form a circle.
