I don't know, it all comes to down to genetics really. I have wide hips and just huge legs naturally, even before I started lifting (giant calves, wide ankles, big feet) so there's that. What I noticed as well is that people who do sports (I don't consider going to the gym a sport, shoot me) have fairly big legs. Rugby players are the ultimate T-rexes (in a good way).

And the way we view aesthetics today, big legs aren't something desirable. I mean beauty standards. It's about having a narrow waist, big ass chest and arms. Fuck everything else basically.
