I'm going to basic for AF in march and wanted to ask, how long do you have to run for? i'm not just talking about the test, I mean everyday, how long do you have to continuously run for?

asking because I have trouble running for 30 minutes straight, and wanted to know if that's even how long they require you to run during basic.

I know fitness for basic is pretty easy, and I'm in good shape, just wanted to know how long they make you run for continuously, it's my weak point but I'm working on it.

WE CAN WE CAN WE CAN WE CAN DEMOLISH 40 BEERS
>>
>>35632279
Well our run days are 15minutes of paced run, then followed by 15 minutes of self paced. Then we do 30 second sprints/rest 6 times. If you go Combat jobs then you will run more and PT in the pools. It is a blast I love every minute of the USAF
>>
>>35632279
It really isn't that big of a deal. Just as long as you can pass your pt test at the end. We have an Airman's run at the end and your family watches and cheers , a lot of females fall out because it is 2 miles. I say they should be recycled back to week one on the spot for that shit. Just run every other day and rest on the weekend. So Mon/Wed/Friday. Eventually you will get better. Incorporate sprints at the end of the workout. It really helps. I ran a 1330 when I got to basic, but left with a 1030 1.5 mile. You'll do fine.
>>
>>35632532
Dining FACility.
>>
Also the MTIs will allow you to go to 5Ks on base if it is near if you have nothing going on that day. (Mainly for higher week trainees) you get a lot more freedom once you leave 3rd week. USAF basic was really cool.

>>

When I was deployed I actually quite liked the DFACs. Decent variety of stuff. One of the things I actually miss about being deployed honestly.
>>
Question for the reservefags
How often do you conduct PT, that isn't a test, on your drill weekends?
>>
>>35634698
DFACs on KAF were really good, the one on Leatherneck was GOAT.
>>
>>35634744
Never.
>>
>>35634785
My unit is the same way. I'm hoping there are some units not like that.

I did basic/ait back to back, almost 5 months, home 2 days before my first drill with unit.
Me: "when do we do PT?"
NCO: "we don't do PT around here."
>wut?

One of the worst things about AR in my opinion.
Yeah they say you should be doing it on your own between drills but it really does help with esprit de corps.
>>
>>35632511

30-60 minutes usually. We mostly did two types of running, ability group runs where they break you up into three groups based on your ability, and you have to keep up with your group... and then the "esprit de corps" runs, like in the movies where everyone runs in formation calling cadence. In one sense those are easier because the whole group only goes as fast as the slowest person, but on the other hand you're yelling a lot instead of breathing.
>>
>>35634744

iirc exactly one time over the course of an entire year.

Basically they figure they only get you for one weekend a month, and that time is better spent on other things. PT on your own time.

(Which I did not, and I actually almost failed the first test when we did deploy.)
>>
I'll never have civie friends like the ones I made when I was in the military. God damn I'm conflicted to reenlist.

Any ex-military /fit/izens? How you dealing with the civie life?

Currently cutting. DFACs overseas are God-tier. All you can eat all the time , fresh grilled chicken breasts as many as I want. Hamburger patties everyday huge salad bar , sandwiches, wraps all types of fresh fruit all the milk and oatz I want
>surf and turf couple times a month
Bretty gud familia
>>
>>35635324
We would do some bullshit on drill weekends. Usually they would make PT failures actually bust there ass and take diagnostics , everyone else would touch football or ultimate frisbee or some bullshit or maybe go on a plt run for a couple miles slowly and call it good
