Depends if you are skinny fat or just fat. If fat then 1500 is ok but you have to be super accurate with calories. I made mistakes for first 2 months. But in my case i was not fat just wanted to see my abs so I lost more muscle than i wanted to. Also my strength went to shit. But anything bellow 2000 is ok as long as you count and dont just "estimate". Thats why many people give up. And i also lifted 4-5 times a week. Never did any cardio lol.
