Literally what is stopping you from ordering test today and signing up with some lolfed? You clearly want it badly.
What areas of the body are typically hypertrophied in a good all-around total lifter? Front delts, legs, spinal erectors? Opinions? Very curious. Will give out a rare Pepe for best answer.
Calves. Hear me out. The soleous is used to correct flexion in hip rotation which creates a huge torque on the dominant low insertion calves. This helps stabalize every lift and create a metamuscle, essentially. It makes the muscle operate and use a true motion instead of a small RoM. Essentially calves will shift all the force from the floor into your hams which will transfer into your spine creating a massive CNS boost.
Say "Hey, what's up? Cheah, I'm new in town looking to get used to the city". At this point light up a cigarette, and casually say "Where ya' from?". "Here" she'll probably say. Say "sometimes I feel like I'm not that alive, I wanna live." You're still alive, she said. You're still alive, she said. Yuh-yeah-yeah-yeah. I'm still alive, you say.
powerlifting is partly an excuse for me to have disproportionately large legs
What kind of flat feet do you have? I have ''false flat feet'', aka forefoot varus. Like Elliott Hulse. Collapsing flat feet. What do you have and how did training calves help you?
Fuck, mirin' hard.
He gets a lot of hate but I honestly respect Brandon a lot because of his sheer strength of will and dedication.
I've got the same flexible flat feet/false flat feet, and a combination of calf raises, consciously walking more on the edge of my foot, and when I have to walk a lot I wear shoes with decent arch support have all helped.
What the fuck that was
>3pl8 for a bunch of reps, pump it hard
>4pl8 for slightly fewer reps, pump it bro
>5pl8 for fewer reps and a random pause
>heave sink slop with a huge weight
No planning, no technical focus. Literally everything wrong with fake fed lifters.
(on his amounts of gear I'd bench more than 4 pl8)
>heave sink slop with a huge weight
But sinking the bar isn't necessarily bad technique and it can help you lift more, even in competition. This is something I got straight from Smulter.
>tfw when you hit 3 plate goal to silence the jokes and its still not enough
>its never enough
>mfw I realise I WILL NEVER leave poverty bench club
>mfw it'll always be 20kg away
At least 3.5 plate is just round the corner in two or three years
1 pl8 is exactly 20kg
1pl8 is 60kg
I am but it's a slow motion disaster and I'm rubbish af
damn m8. cool to hear from a fellow lifter. how tight are your hips? if you're anything like Elliott and me then they're tight as fuck. Every day I fall back into tightness, actually after like an hour after stretching I'm tight again. It's fucking up my squat training. Tight quads pull down on the pelvis and disable my lower abs. They simply don't get nervous activity and they are horribly weak and behind compared to the rest of the body. My gut spills out and I have donald duck posture.
I've actually got a bit of lordosis, but there isn't much I can do about it due to my morphology. my hips don't externally rotate well with a normal standing stance since my adductors are so large that they essentially leverage my hips apart when I try to pull my hips under me.
but the elites will be worse than the tested elites because of participation
more participation = better at the top
desu the 10% participation rule doesnt even involve the crucial fact that not everyone in the weightclass is on the same amount of steroids as the top
so basically, untested is a joke compared to IPF
I bought insoles, but they were shitty. So I looked at google for better insoles, got an idea of what I needed, called for an orthopedian time in my town, explained what I wanted and he understood me. Next week I'll go there and get next level false feet insoles. I'm gonna lift up my ''big toe'' along with the arch. This is a physical problem. It has physical solutions. We must be able to fix it.
I hope the insoles will make me more stable and allow the adductors to relax a bit, making it easier to stretch me fully open. Possibly make me get into a good squat position with possibilities for good movement mechanics.
This. Powerlifting generally, but untested feds specially aren't big enough to be saturated with talent. The smaller the talent pool is, the worse the top(generally). Drugs/no weigh-ins and different equipment play a huge role in why lolfeds have bigger numbers then the larger IPF.
I think I've accidentally done that bulldog grip a couple times. Feels surprisingly good, though I don't think I'll need it yet. If I move out any further I'll take it pretty slow getting there.
I'll try friend
>norse gets his first pump in like 10 years and feels bretty gud about it despite being a lard ass
>still never going to look as good as phil, or be as strong or as lean though >>35617589 >>35617605
I don't even know. It would be much more fun, thats for sure.
lol no, where did that even come from
there's always a chance m8
desu i like having big ass legs, but i like having big ass arms too
I got a foamroll. What do?
I've tried DeFranco's routine but it feels silly (plus he looks like a douche) and I'm not even sure what most of the stuff supposed to accomplish
i wanted to know so I could see if you would appreciate and be educated by my new comic. here check it out
ok, but that doesn't change the fact that he looks better and actually has promise of being able to progress in the sport lol
don't get me wrong, i love the guy but god damnit he makes me fucking jealous
I accidentally a coke-a-cola
i don't follow
wanted to make sure you weren't an enemy to me and my own. i like you, you got balls. could you please reblob my comic on your instagram?
awww hes like a little bee
except he cant eat honey
I know rite, such is the downside of being (relatively) lean
Lel, it was a little more than a coincidence
Honey's IG isn't THAT high btw, I can eat small amounts
how tha fug
you're only just a notch below bodorio for my jealousy levels
Well there are many more factors coming into play, also I'm not THAT big (not as big as haack that's for sure).
Give me some time, I may never reach Haack's or Gibbs' level, but I feel like I still have plenty more in the tank
Those are just some loose knee sleeves I bought because I was tired of my tight-ass SBDs, they're really comfy
>just realized the local beer fest is going to be here on saturday
>i have plent more in the tank
above all, this is actually what I'm jealous about. I think i'm stuck at 1700 for the rest of my life lel
Day 92 blog: my last post doesn't count because it was only about my first session.
Felt like shit today during squats between classes, still worked up to 475, which admittedly felt way better than my warmups, but not enough so to keep going up. Got some crazy quad soreness and some random pains in my knee and shoulder.
Went to class, went home, jerked off, and took a nap. Went back to the gym feeling much better.
Worked up in front squats and attempted a max of 370. Felt easy and smooth going down but I tipped too far forward and lost it out of the hole. How the fuck do you guys not revert to backsquat form under heavy front squats? My upper back and quads should be able to handle that weight.
Doing SS basically with weighted dips, on my 4th session, gonna ride the linear gains out and then come back to benching. Hit 3x5 with 20lbs way too easy for my fat weight. Then did 1xf with 1pl8 to see where I was and got 5.
Hit some incline DB bench, skull crushers, side raises, and face pulls.
How do you like the dead guy ale? I haven't gotten to try it yet.
just ordered in some poo in the loo chicken food, did I fuck up or what?
I'd sell my brother for dat dere 700lb deadlift
Nah, you just need to figure out what's wrong, also I believe you could squat so much more if you adopted a wider stance and kept a straighter back, your limbs are too long for your current setup imho. Also try to find a type of programming that keeps you motivated, that's the #1 thing
>also I believe you could squat so much more if you adopted a wider stance and kept a straighter back, your limbs are too long for your current setup imho.
yep, makes sense. Except when your hip sockets are all fucked up and you are physically unable to go wider because bones are touching lel.
this is part of the reason I'm thinking of adopting an active recovery day / stretching day, specifcally to hammer my groin every single time and try to get that shit opened up the best I can.
I just watched a video of Jason Blaha and he said that 270lbs was a respectable bench for a natty (the guy in question trained for 7years).
So people can skyrocket from 110lbs bench to 220lbs in a year and then it takes 6 more years to reach "just" 270lbs ? If that is true that really fucking sucks.
For a casual gym goer. He said "non-competitive".
I actually agree to an extent. If you get too caught up in what the elite are doing you are most likely never going to feel good about yourself.
>So people can skyrocket from 110lbs bench to 220lbs in a year
>110 to 220
>in a year
>(on his amounts of gear I'd bench more than 4 pl8)
listen to yourself. Take that sentence i just green texted and read it out loud to yourself.
That is a road you do NOT want to go down.
Seriously. If you want the IPF to have a good reputation, then use GOOD arguments against it. NEVER the butt-blasted "I COULD DO THAT TOO IF I TOOK A GAZILLION CHEMICALS"
I can't confirm that, but I'm pretty inclined to believe i have really deep recessed hip sockets. I've tried gently moving my hips around to find the edges of it and i can notice a definite spot where my legs just aren't capable of going. it just happens to be part of the range of motion for a wide stanced squat
didnt he say all males should be able to deadlift 500lbs in a year and squat 405 or something, without even taking into account bw
now someone 7 years further on and only just above those is really good
Hey guys, this is a really stupid thing.
I want to have a world record at most dips done in one minute or at most dips in one minute with a 100lb back pack.
Do you recomend any program?
Currently I do 20dips with 45lb back pack(no time limit, but, must be around 1'30''
I'm just doing 3x5 on dips and texas method
I see nothing wrong with that statement.
I used to be way ahead of this dude who is 2 years younger than me. He's on gear and has now blasted up go 435 while also playing football and doing fuck all in real pl training.
Used to be right with my dad and then guess what?
Steroids blast up the bench.
>listened to blaha
270 is average as shit if you're over 140lb in bw. +300 should be achievable for most under 200 desu. And the heavier you are the larger than number becomes of course. However if you're +6ft and sub 200 then you're doomed to be shit because you're a fucking skinny weed.
maybe he just had better programming than your dumbass le max all the time xD training
not to mention literally everyone surpassed you, your bench is shit just like the rest o f your lifts, fat boy
>inb4 a laughable response from tripless benchbeta
>I see nothing wrong with that statement.
well i'm sorry, but you're severely overlooking the implications of the statement.
I'm not going to call you an idiot because you're not, but this is willful ignorance, which IMHO is the definition of stupidity.
r u srs
please post screen shot once you get around to posting my comic
You both look like, and seem like you're having some fun.
Welcome back to earth, space man :)
>powerlifting confirmed for lazy neets.
Lol, it is what you make it.
Some of us train pretty hard. Compared to college sport, it's still decently tough.
Compared to the average /fit/ douche, I'd like to think we're collectively working very hard.
The strong men in these threats are much more goal oriented and driven than the soul less , dead eyes gawkers at your commercial gyms. We cozy up their shrink wrap and we put it in the pantry every time
This is the saddest thing I've read all day... ha.
Luckily, many of us are here to raise up the soulless. Bringing people on the journey is half the fun!
>inb4 i'm not strong
I still like to hitch a ride on strong dudes (nogay), but I'm running out of local drug-free guys.
I wrote 3 paragraphs and then I just deleted it.
tl;dr - the statement itself is fine and most likely true.
The context was the the way he [brandon lolly] was doing things was objectively bad, and the "I could do that much if......" was the rationalization as to why it was bad. That doesn't hold any water:
>his training is retarded because its the juice making him stronger not the training
or, maybe juicing it makes more sense to train like that, because you don't have to fucking grind pants-on-head retarded amounts of fucking grueling volume, destroying your body in the process, to get 15 kg on your total.
basically, you don't logically get to compare across the two.
Also, there are MUCH better fucking arguments as to why the IPF is the "one true fed" than "hurrrr they all just do sturroids and its not fair waaaah"
not happening diddler
eh. its pretty bleh right now just because there's nothing going on.
neither benchjoe or jorge was using it as an argument against non ipf feds
they were both saying its not hard to bench lots of weight if you just shoot tons of steroids and eat tons of food
in order to bench 5pl8 with those parameters, you dont need good programming[or even programming at all, just arbitrarily performed sets and reps]
which is why i refrained from blowing up. realized it halfway through.
Ι recently started laggin on my lifts and I realized that I was stupid enough to not think the lbs part on the popular strength programs and I was adding 1.25kg(the smallest plates in my gym) on each side for the lifts. Well obviously deadlifts and squats weren't that much of a problem but my bench fucking stalled at 70kg 3x5 and ohp at 50kg 3x5. Do you think that the +2.5kg total was a big reason that this happened ?
Was gonna make a joke about "did you wash up on shore as a kid of unknown age with "TILL AMERIKA" stamped on your buttcheeks" but then i realized you're not exactly close to a shore
nah i think that's just where the progress tends to stall on SS for smaller guys desu. if you can further microload you might be able to eek out a little more progress but i think you need to change programming for upper body lifts.
No. Microplates would help a bit but I know plenty of people who got good results and never used them. Eat more sleep more and consider doing a program less reliant on microplates like candito lp or hepburn
>dont you ever shave
No joke, I love the stache. However, it gets intermittently shaved when the following occurs:
>I end up with food in it past the designated allotted time (3 hours)
>wife gets friction burn in crotch
Barring either of those circumstances, I like having it to filter my bourbon.
>progression tips,like sets and reps
This chart has never done me wrong.
Use "RPE" as a "difficulty level".
Is their an incline bench or a smith machine you can hang a barbell off?
Not very safe as if you fail a rep you have to drop the weight but if you don't go to failure its better than nothing
IIRC only 30-something people have ever benched over 600lbs/272kg in competition though, while there are millions of steroid users in the United States alone. Lilly is exceptionally good at benching, he's not like that tard from fraud trying to brag about a 170kg bench after years on gear.
I understand your point and I'm not starting an argument, just pointing out that he's not a good example of what you're talking about.
>I bet you can do that every week right!
Sometimes. This has been a fun week :)
>do you lift in the gym near a private highschool off of 40?
You talking about the one in maplewood? If so, then no, but I've been there once. Invite only, but it was an AWESOME gym, and the lifters were super fun.
>since he can't bench or deadlift he only lifts twice a week doing half the workout each time.
Sweet Jesus. That sounds miserable.
its not that the programming is bad its just that you aren't at that level anymore. Texas method is a frequent next step. someone else suggested Candito's linear or hepburn. Buda's idea is more fundamental and less "do this" but it'll probably help you learn.
if a gym does not have a squat rack there is not way the administration is going to allow that.
I was not, but thank you for the heads up, I am really not happy at the gym I am at.
I preffer gyms where I have competition to lift against.
I was referring to the one across Forest Park
>if a gym does not have a squat rack there is not way the administration is going to allow that.
My friend and I did that and they bought a squat rack a month later. Probably because people started copying us
"The Lab?" I think there is a breddy strong /fit/ dude that lifts there. Strongtoast maybe?
Heard it's a decent gym.
Eagle in Overland, and Max Effort in Maplewood are more "serious" PL oriented gyms. Eagle is basic, grungy, and "iron lyfe", where Max Effort is a bit more "USAPL" oriented (but it is invite only).
Either way, there are some good options near you :) Max Effort has an 850 lb puller, Eagle has some impressive specimens as well.
>That's worth 5 special star points
Thx bby! But seriously, you sound like the saddest, most cynical cunt in the whole spank forum. I will not lift with you, ever.
No stars for you. Only frowny faces drawn in red ink.
I want to go on a weekly tour now
The Lab is the closest one to me though, so I will probably look into that Gym more so than anything else
I'm fucking adorable (objectively).
>I want to go on a weekly tour now
Eagle is only $5 for a daily visit. Rick is the owner. They have a monolift, decent benches, some good DL bars, and a boxing ring if you're feeling spicy.
Max Effort you'll have to call to arrange an interview/visit. I would LOVE to train there, but it's too far of a drive, and I don't have the time :(
I've heard great stuff about the Lab, though. I used to live right across from Forest Park, but I moved before it opened, I guess.
>to far of a drive
That alone is my biggest problem, the drive to these gyms are most likely 20+ minutes for each of them.
When I have time, Ill try my best to atleast two of them though.
I have never been in a dedicated "PLing" atmosphere, so I have no idea what to expect
its pretty much the same in this area. i'm lucky to live in one of 2 (two) areas with non-trash gyms in this entire state.
not an exageration btw.
Interesting. I guess I'm going into intermediate level and because of reasons, imbalances it hit me. I will look into the programs you suggested although candito's always makes me anxious about the free exercise selections sigh...I tend to overthink things you see. Are there any ready templates with optional exercises so I do what it must be done with no complicating my shit ? Also if you are bored don't continue replying me. I don't need spoonfeeding. We are on /fit/ afterall so apparently we know where to find things online so that's just chit-chatting and all cause were very helpful so far.
It took me 4 months to get to 2pl8. 1.5 years later I only bench 245. But I've had to start over twice because of surgeries 2 years in a row. My bench actually went from 225 to 245 in 6 weeks doing Candito's 6 week program. Can't wait to get to 3pl8.
>I have no idea what to expect
Just be friendly, but respectful, since a lot of the regulars are very regular. Have fun! Might see you at one of those gyms at some point.
I'll give you a secret /PLG/ sneer, then I'll extend my hand and say "hello, I am Seen". I expect you to return the greeting by saying, "hello, I am also an insufferable little man cunt".
At which point, we will be best buddies for the day :)
I'll live, but I would much rather lift at a nice gym than the piece of shit gym I lift at now.
It's a great chance for someone, yeah. I'm planning to move away after I finish school, plus I have zero money and zero credit.
>Wtf is with arching your back so much during bench.
Partly to protect shoulders (debatable) and partially to increase pushing strength through leverage.
Same reason that a Baseball batter will "step into" their swing. It increases how far they can hit the ball.
Lol. You afraid that he'd ruin your "no fun just be a miserable cunt" club?
I look very forward to it then!
can we still get toasted ravs afterwards too?
if ur not lucky to have a good gym nearby you might as well invest in a home gym desu
i live in area with like 10 gyms nearby and they all fucking suck. like how do these things even stay in business, half of them dont even have free weight areas and only like 2 of them have a squatrack.
a new gym opened up walking distance from my place so i went there once. No squat rack, 1 barbell and a fuck ton of random machines.
The floor was laminate so i asked one of the "instructors" if deadlifting was ok, they had no idea what a deadlift was. after explaining they said no and that i shouldnt deadlift because it would be bad for my back (mind you i dl 6 plates and am twice as big as them).
literally nothing grinds my gears more than casuals being ignorant about strength training.
a home gym was the best investment i ever made, its pretty cost efficient too if you have the room to spare
On top if some Imo's, heck yes.
A lifting buddy and I were talking recently about trying the "Pointasaurus Rex" challenge.
2 people, one hour, 28" pizza. $500 prize.
>are you allowed to shit?
I'm not sure... here are the rules:
Two people must consumer the ENTIRE pizza in ONE HOUR without leaving the customer area at Pointer's
The pizza must have any combination of TWO meat toppings or FOUR vegetable toppings
ALL crusts and toppings must be swallowed ENTIRELY for the contest to be ruled complete
Competitors must pay $50 in advance. In the event of winning the contest, the $50 will be refunded along with a check for $500
A maximum of SIX spectators are allowed in the customer area at any given time, and must stay out of the competition area
Contestants must call at least ONE DAY in advance for reservations to try the challenge, preferred to be at 3pm any day of the week. Any derivations are at the manager's discretion.
Napkins may not be used to absorb pizza juices.
Promotion and photographs of your success may be used by Pointer's Delivery.
I'd wear a diaper just in case. Nobody would know.
heres a tip for starting a homegym, dont get the most expensive shit, just make sure you have a rack that is solid and a somewhat decent barbell. a lot of the better racks and plates and shit are totally not worth the bang for your buck. i have a decent homegym and it cost me like a grand max.
Oh, we used to do that back in highschool when the McDonalds dollar menu was actually a dollar menu, we also did the one-bite McDouble challenge until I had to Heimlich somebody.
>100+ lbs more than me
>at 100+ lbs less than me
i tend to agree, but god damn a nice eleiko barbell is just calling my name man
I honestly can't explain it but I always always have better sessions training on a nice bar(all 3 lifts) than on a no-name bar, and I'm not the only one.
I also managed to permanently warp a strength shop bar in like two months this summer, so that's something to look out for.
Y'all niggas be like "damn I wish I had Sean's homegym"
Lmao'ing @ your life
ohio power bars are great. Its what I have access to in my gym. shits cheap and really solid. the knurling is just a LITTLE too aggressive for my taste unfortunately for a training bar.
>Remember that time when Seen couldn't keep his word, like a little kid instead of a man?
Do you remember the time that Seen took a picture of his nasty foot and a pointless piece of home gym equipment that he doesn't actually use? >>35620305
You guys do realize the bet was islet benches 140kgs AND puts on 5kga on his deadlift OR squat, which he didn't do
ITT stupid bitches talking about shit they weren't here for or understand
2.2 meters long
81 cm between the rings
Ahah what's the matter Buda, can't afford a cable machines or leg extension on a teachers salary?
>can't afford a cable machines or leg extension on a teachers salary?
What's the point in having them if you don't use them?
I may lift in poverty, but at least I lift :)
>I hope budas school has a nurses office
We are fully stocked in all necessary medical equipment, yes. Also, I am First Aid and AED Certified, so I can administer my own creams and salves in regards to my burned anus.
>Two powerlifters could manage one 28" pizza.
I'd like to think so.
However, it is 10 lbs (just a heads up). 4 veggies, or 2 meat toppings.
1 hour. That's tough.
Last winners were in 2013.
The advantage for a weightlifter is that they are training for competitive eating without realizing. Frequent snacking and then force feeding for a surplus post-workout is similar to how hotdog contest eaters train.
No they're just narrow feet, that's all
People with narrow feet typically are much faster, quicker and agile
This is complimented by my high calf insertions which are also ideal for speed
>Wide feet are for slow stocky looking betas
Just my own anecdote, but my feet are 2E width (wide).
I have decent (and legitimate) track times from 400m through 10000m.
In my experience working with athletes who run and lift, narrow feet are seldom an asset.
>Too slow for the real sprints
After focusing on strength, speed development, and plyos, I was able to achieve very respectable short sprint times as well (post mid/long distance tenure).
I also learned to pole vault, long jump, triple jump, and high jump to a small degree of proficiency.
What events did you compete in (in track)?
>The 1m push shit with your skinny foot race?
