Okay guys I'm about to walk into the gym for the first time I'm fucking terrified pls help.
Don't show visible fear as you walk in, if the regulars see it they'll roll you up in a yoga mat and lock you in the sauna
And if you make eye contact in the locker room it signals that you want to have gay sex
different us fag here, yeah its standard to tip most occupations... was really surprised when i first travelled overseas and people didnt expect it, its like... why would your boss pay you your full wage WITHOUT tips so you get paid no matter how well you worked?
its just common sense - you want your gym receptionist to be nice to customers, so you make them depend on tips to encourage good behaviour. (not totally cause otherwise a bad week by chance will fuck their family etc but at least partially yeah). so tipping is just expected
another reason the us is the greatest economy in the world
Is this a meme?
Trust me no one is looking at you or cares what you're doing, you're literally too small to see, just spend 3 months doing stupid shit that /fit/ tells you then realize you've made zero gains and do some research on beginner routines and how to diet, 2 years from now you'll look above average to normies
yeah sure but then people work JUST HARD ENOUGH to not get fired and no harder cause theres no incentive
with the tip system, a good gym receptionist will have incentive to know your name, have a chat about your routine, wash your gym shorts for you so you don't have to take them home, keep you motivated, etc.
i didnt get any of that when i trained overseas, maybe just a different (poorer?) culture but also i suspect tips had something to do with it
Do something I didn't: have a program lined out.
I didn't have that, and just did 3 sets on every machine.
honestly it kind of makes you wonder if maybe that's the reason they're 3rd world hey
the receptionists don't get tips on top of their wages so there's less money in the country overall
no i mean look if he's in a country (or state...?) where that's not standard then that's totally fine, it's just usually expected everywhere in the us that i've heard of
sure but our monthly fee is probably lower than yours to compensate because our minimum wage is lower, ya dig?
like i'm paying $30 / week and none of my international friends have it that cheap
>$30 / week
Cool, are you trying to bait me her? Living in germany i pay 20€ (around $22) a MONTH.
Since Im always taking hot showers in the gym after working out I practically pay absolutely nothing.
There's nothing really to see, I'm 6'1, 140 skelly with a baby face.
SS isn't a "meme", per se - it's very effective at getting you strong, very quickly. It's just that:
a) it builds absolutely no appreciable muscle in the upper body so you look like a Tyrannosaurus, and
b) You can't actually "transition" to a bodybuilding program easily with your new strength because you've got absolutely no preparation for volume work (15 reps of chest work some weeks -> upwards of 80 is a plan for failure and burnout).
It's a great intro powerlifting routine, but for anyone who wants to look good or gain muscle it's shocking. This is why it's a "meme" on /fit/ - it's all about indoctrinating people into powerlifter culture as a trick. Perfectly effective, just doesn't do what people want it to do.
>living in germany
yeah sure but you just had a fuckload of refugees rape your women right, i'm not sure i want to follow your country's policy
bet the fucking refugees don't even tip their foster homes
>greatest economy in the world
Amen finally someone brave enough to say it on this chinese shitposting forum. USA #1
should I go back? it's open until 10pm
Nah I couldn't, sometimes I wish I was gay but it's just too disgusting.
Tfw no gf
This genuinely got a kek out of me at my work desk.
>mfw this is probably exactly what the majority of /fit/ does as they spout out dietary and weight lifting advice
I'm glad anon, God knows we all need more laughter.
Ok I'm gonna do it /fit,
But really should I just drop ss? Just know I was thinking of adding a buttload of dips and pull ups. Is this enough to not become a t-Rex?
>I'm glad anon, God knows we all need more laughter.
Okay, now I feel bad because there's a chance you MAY have been serious. Sorry, thought you were joking around.
In all seriousness, I don't get why you're nervous. I've been going to the gym for 4 years and couldn't give a single fuck less about what other people are doing.
We all start somewhere. When I started lifting I was skinny fat and struggled to bench 95 lbs and could barely cure 10lbs.
Every great journey starts with a single step. Take that step anon.
The problem is that it won't work.
For SS to get away with its incredibly low volume, you have to make those sets incredibly stressful.
For you to recover from that stress, you have to eat a shitload and put on weight (hence GOMAD).
When you put on that much more weight, your bodyweight progress will crawl to an absolute halt and you won't actually get much muscular gain from it.
i'd reccomend you to go for back, bicep and forearm workout session
like do deadlifts, bar rowing, rowing with dumbells and maybe some machine stuff
for biceps just do some curls with bar and dumbells
for forearm search forearm workout. also read about exercises on each muscle group from some sites
Is this really how we are treating the new guys? come on,its not like he asked something that's in the sticky or comes up as nyr faggot
>tfw left my billfold and have to choose between the atm surcharge rape or going on the tip dodger wall of shame for a month
Hey man, I started going last week but I've lurked /fit/ for a while, try have a plan of what exercises you wanna do before you go in, then just walk upto the desk, pay the monthly few and sign up then get to work
If someone is using something you need either do a different exercise first or ask how long they're gonna be, 'how many sets do you have left? ' is good, or 'hey can I work in with you?'
Unless you make a scene no one is gonna pay much attention to you, just remember to tidy up weights after you use them and wipe off benches, it's all just common etiquette really
