I'm about to enlist in the military and read about the PFT everyone's put through in basic training. I have no problems with the push ups and situps, but the 2 mile run could be troublesome since I've never been very focused on cardio. I'm 20 so I need a 16:36 2 mile time but would like something closer to the 14:00 mark since I want to be able to survive BCT more easily.
I've tried to do some research on the topic but there's a lot of shitty websites focusing on running primarily trafficked by moms, so the most logical thing to do is go to 4chan. How do I cut time off a 2 mile time?
>How to cut off a 2 mile time.
RUN. It's not fucking rocket science. Just take it slowly then start to increase how much you run.
And if you think the Army is too hard just join the Navy or Air Force.
Jesus christ kid! I'm in the chair force and I could fucking walk that. That's absurdly easy. Did you even fucking try it yet? I can run a 9:42 mile and a half, so I doubt 2 miles would take an extra 7 minutes. Also, if you cared about education, you would join air force or navy.
Are you even in the military? The basic training for all branches is very similar. Marines are harder from what I hear though. Hence why they didn't even have a spec ops unit for so long - every marine WAS a spec ops troop.

Basic is really easy.
But don't enlist. Army is boring. Spend all day picking up trash or standing in the motorpool. The wars are finished so there's no real deployments. Go to college.
We joke around a lot, but are you literally retarded? What was so unbelieveable about what I said?
This was seriously part of the reasoning given as to why they were the last military branch in America to get a special operations command. They only got in back in 2006. They were around for nearly 230 years before finally getting a spec ops command not even a full 10 years ago.
What are you struggling to understand?
What mos you trying to get?
Also just fucking run, first pt test is also a 1,1,1 one minute pu/su then one mile, also you don't need 60%till out of basic, unless they changed that
Well as a Brit I have to do a mile and a half and I've been told to do a mix of long trail runs and 400m interval training.
If you wanna run 2miles in 14 mins that's a 7 minute mile, so a 1:45 400metres.
You'd need to run 8 X 400m each one under 1:45 and then 2 miles in 14 should be a doable time
As a Brit we r just told to run as fast as we can like you might only NEED. To run a 13:15 for joining as a tankie but my go if staff can tell your just doing enough to scrape by and not trying your hardest you'll fail anyway
