focus on your connection to your son first. If you had a good relationship there wouldn't be a problem in taking him with you a few times, thus bilding a habit.

I'd start slow, make him come with you, make it bonding time, explain to him the benefits and shit. He'll sometimes be stroppy and shit since his now a teenager. I don't know if he's insecure about his self image or not, but if he is secure about it you should avoid making him insecure. Anyway, if he is insecure about it you can literally walk around the house shirtless frequently when he's around (only works if you look good), worked on my bro lol.
Also you can just tell him if he doesn't exercise and lift weights he will die before he's your age (sliiight exaggeration).

That was my first thought. My old man wanted to teach me stuff when I was young, but he had bad approach. he tried to force me and I was just a teenager, meaning I was a dumbass that knew better. If you had good connection and authority, your son would want to work out with you on his own. This requires a lot of talking to deepen the connection.

Tell him what you needed to hear when you were younger and if he bitches about it being hard or not seeing results make him keep at it until he sees how far he has come.
