if you're lifting heavy in running shoes, that's an immediate caution of alarm violently going off

I wear running shoes on my upper body days. As long as you're not squatting or deadlifting it's not a problem.

Didn't know that, thanks senpai

If nothing else, adding an extra 200-300 pounds on the shoes could wear out the cushioning and make them shitty for running
Also I think it has to do with how it shifts your weight or something? Idk, I had just started squatting in socks then hurt my knee and don't squat anymore. But I think it did feel more right than doing it in running shoes

I run far more than I lift and the first one is a problem
The entire point of a running shoe (unless it's a weird minimalist one) is the foam on the bottom. It's gotta stay soft so it can compress and then rebound back to help you push off with every step.
Lifting in running shoes puts huge strain on the foam. Basically it just makes them wear out ten times faster than actual running would.
Lifting in old shoes you dont run in anymore isnt a huge problem unless youre lifting very heavy, then it might cause form problems.

Running puts upwards of 6-700 lbs peak force on shoes.
