If I'm 6ft, 155lbs. How much I'm bench pressing when I do a push up?
>>
What a retarded question. That's like asking how much you're benching by doing a 100 lb squat. They're different lifts and aren't exchangeable
>>
>>35498049
not much
a lot of weight is supported by toes and while doing a push up you don't apply force vertically at all times during the movement
if I were to say how it feels I'd say that it's like benchpressing 1/3 of your bodyweight
>>
Am I just getting dyslexia or was this not written in English?
>>
>>35498049

~2/3 BW, get into a pushup position on a bathroom scale (hands on the scale) and look at the weight to get a better approximation.
>>
>>35498081
What if I do handstand pushups.
>>
>>35498096
Then you have to compare it to ohp you imbicile

sorry

newfaggatron
never say sorry on fit
>>
>>35498049
they're different exercises.
pushups are arguably better since they work many more muscles (especially in your core) and they are more shoulder friendly.
>>
>>35498049
Only if you're doing
100 push ups
100 crunches
100 squats
And 1 km of running every single day

Or else no gains

This is some misc tier bro science.

>How much I'm bench pressing when I do a push up?
You aren't bench pressing anything at all. You are however pushing around 90-100 lbs. Slightly more in the bottom of the rep and less in the top.
>>
>>35498049
i am 160lbs and i can do 45 pushups,when i tried bench pressing i could do 12 reps of 60kg (12x1pl8)
hope i helped

You dont live on the south coast of the uk do you?
>>
Can bench 165 at 200 pounds and struggle to do like 10 pushups, they mostly hurt my shoulders. Anyone have any tips?
>>
>>35499599
hello fatty, drop the weight, I can do more than 20 push ups and bench 175x5 being 174lbs, it's because you are heavy as fuck.
>>
I bench 600lbs and struggle to do one pushup. I also weigh 800lbs.
>>
>>35499827
Why do you think i lift? It was more a question about pushup form, didn't need your stats breh.

try a wider pressup stance maybe, more chest, could also apply some of the general tips from benching like trying to pull shoulder blades in/back as you go

anyway try a bunch of different hand positions and you might find something that helps

once you've dropped a few pounds / upped your bench a bit you should find pressups trivial anyway
>>
>>35500160
I just told them because thats the answer, you need to lower your weight as there is to much stress in your shoulders when you do push ups.
>>
Okay then
>>
>>35499827
That sounds like a shitty form.
Do some more weight exercises.

Made some C.O.G. assumptions and arm/head length but should be a pretty good approximation.
>>
>>35498049

To make it short: As your feet are on the ground, you basically have a lever. Your center of mass is located at about 0.6*height measured from your feet (considering your arm position). Using the intercept theorem, you can either say you move your whole weight by 0.6 of the whole range of motion, or you move 0.6 of your weight by the full range of motion (it doesn't matter how you look at it). As your arms stay relatively fixed, you don't lift those of course. So you end up with something like ~80 lbs if you assume your arms weigh 13 lbs (actually one arm weighs this much. But as about half of both arms remain stationary, it's an okay assumption).

You will probably have a harder time benching the weight though, assuming you are not familiar with the movement. Problem is mainly your stabilizing muscles that work harder when benching.
