right now I'm trying to get shredded, learned some shell programming over winter, got an 18 credit compsci semester coming up with a potential job at the library, and currently trying to listen to a bunch of various music as both a hobby and interest

i did that with film before I got bored, and I'll probably move on to books eventually and try and learn some instruments

also have solid gpa and interviewing for summer internships

I have met a few people that could speak at least 3 languages at a native level (I speak these languages) and they also claimed to be fluent in a few others as well. One person could speak 6 and my cousin speaks 5 fluently with 2 semi fluently. Of course my cousin has lived all over the world and seems to have a talent for languages

You need to explore different learning styles, figure out what you respond best to. (eg I'm a highly visual learner, I like to learn with images). Discipline is equally important. I've sometimes gone months focussing on virtually nothing but whatever subject I'm trying to learn, I have no social life because of this. You have to be willing to sacrifice the things you consider frivolous. For some more linguistic specific advice, someone in an earlier post (might have been you) deduced that I practice with native speakers, which is a big part of learning a language. Immerse yourself in it as much as you can.

And for the record, I also did poorly in school.
