I'm sick of feminisation and pussyfication of men in today's world?
what are some good tv shows or movies that show how man should be?
I've seen braveheart, 300, band of brothers, and I've read a book "gates of fire".
what else is there?
>I'm sick of feminisation and pussyfication of men in today's world?
I don't know bro are you
in all serious though, Fight Club, any Clint Eastwood movie, and the book The Odyssey come to mind
Generation Kill, Blackhawk down, casino, heat, lone survivor, boardwalk empire, the sopranos, hell on wheels. There's tons of good movies/tv shows that don't make men be pussies.
>I'm sick of feminisation and pussyfication of men in today's world
I don't think this is a real thing. people complaining about "muh sensitivity" are just more noticeable then the majority of people not giving a fuck.
IP Man was pretty good especially if you want to see a dude get like jackhammer punched into the ground until dead
Once upon a time in mexico
just some that spring to mind
>tfw break finger at martial arts
>everyone starts screaming when they see my bent finger
>I just calmly tell them to shut up and go get my car's keys
>everyone's amazed that I'm not worried
Why so few have normal pain tolerance /fit/?
That fucking mentality. God damn. It almost makes me not want a little hellspawn because "oh well, you can't be better than others, it makes them feel bad." If that's the case, the government wants you to work for them! They will threaten to fire you for outperforming your co-workers and trying to make a decent living because the others feel "threatened" what a fucking load this world is turning into.
There are some great ones on this list. Got me to watch a few incredible movies I'd never heard of too. Like:
>12 Angry Men
> IP Man
etc. etc. etc.
I hate how guys seem to think that we're supposed to fight each other and act like cunts all the time. I think it's much healthier of an ideal to strive to be a good leader, a diplomat, a good friend, pragmatic and secure in oneself rather than being an overly aggressive brute.
Remember "the soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war"?
Admittedly it's not just men thinking that, women are pretty good at perpetuating this too.
And specifically feminisation is a fetish for some people. Most people have the sense to keep it "in the bedroom", ie. they don't force it upon other people.
Broke my leg as a kid. Was scared, it hurt kinda bad at first. After twenty minutes or so it didn't even hurt anymore. Compare that to small cuts that hurt for hours. Pain is very relative.
how did you come to that conclusion?
i always thought it was about men turning into pussies because of white collar jobs, and fulfilling the primal urge of beating the shit out of other males, thus turning manly.
Lots of threads about this today, and I don't need to link you to what I said elsewhere, but you need to read some Jack Donovan. No homo, but Donovan is a fucking bro:
>realize effeminate "gay" culture has been hijacked
>gays feel like they should lisp and lilt, even though they are men and are attracted to men
>feminine men are naturally repulsive--and that's not homophobia
>urges homos and nohomos to just be men through strength, courage, mastery, and honor.
If you're a man, be a man. If you're not particularly manly, get that way--just as you've pursued other goals. It's not about being "alpha," it's about growing into the man you were meant to be.
Manly tears. Manly tears fucking everywhere.
P.S.: Watch the Director's Cut.
Maybe, just maybe, instead of sitting around like a fat fuck reading books or watching movies about being manly you should go out and do or learn something manly.
Learn how to carve something, fix an engine, change your oil, help out someone who can't help themselves, build something... Just go DO something.
Character isn't built by what you think, it's built by what you do.
> Relying on media to show you how a man should behave
There's your first fucking problem.
Don't you assholes have fathers?
> I've seen braveheart, 300, band of brothers, and I've read a book "gates of fire".
So.. you think being a man is about killing people?
I mean, they're not bad movies, but you better goddamned hope you never end up in any of those situations.
Jesus Christ, reading this thread is depressing. You all seem to think being a man means being violent.
I think the media has had the opposite effect on males that you think it has.
No you don't. You find femininity attractive, and you've got some homo shit going on, but the statistics are in: Fags consume manly porn. Of all the various kinds of porn out there, twinks and fems are low on the list compared to "gay-for-pay" and other genres that show manly men fucking manly men.
How fucking confusing would that be to BE a man and WANT a man and then be pressured to DRESS and ACT like something you neither want nor want to be?
> Old propaganda movies
FTFY. You know that's all they were, right? For a long time after WWII, the US gov't would actually pay for movies that glorified soldiers and war, and painted US troops especially favorably.
Have fun being a tool, tool.
>Don't you assholes have fathers?
Actually no. No I don't', anon.
Star Wars revenge of the sith. Fool slaughters them like animals. Men woman n chillen. FOOKEN MANLY
http://pastebin.com/kaeDX4d6 here you go, don't expect it to be really good. I had fun with it but it could have been written cleaner. my thesis was pretty messy throughout the first half so mainly focus on the conclusion. fyi: im not a fan of feminism or any de-masculation ideas i just went along with it a little for the paper
Read the Iliad and the Odyssey. More-so the Odyssey imo, the Iliad is just this kickass war-tale and is just raw testosterone so just as important for your purposes. Odysseus = alpha as fuck motherfucker with indeterminable will and overall mortality and humanity that makes him more relate-able in a world of gods.
I'd also suggest Castiglione's Book of the Courtier. In my opinion, being a man =/= being a savage. A man should have a variety of skills, not limited to picking things up and putting things down.
fight club is about defeminization and resisting the mental stagnation and safety that societal order brings.
writing a paper about it feels cringeworthy, because it is a form of the same dull, safety-seeking behavior that the movie criticizes, thus showing that you maybe understood in on some level, but for one reason or the other didn't implement it in any way into your lifestyle.
This is basically masturbation: Once in a while watching movies where guys break free of their bonds, having manly fantasies of escaping your prison and then going back, because: hey, i need good grades.
if you truly loved that movie, you would probably be working on finding some way to exist w/o succumbing to societal rules and living your masculinity out as much as you can.
quietly sitting in a room, raising your weak wrist and throwing unnecessarily complex words around to impress pseudo-intellectual professors with your *theoretical* knowledge of masculinity is not exactly that.
Now, i know that my criticism is irrational, as every single one of us has to compromise on some level, but writing about extremely polarizing stuff that allegedly "influenced" you so much feels cringeworthy - because stuff that actually influences you will change your behavior, not just your reservoir of pointless phrases to be thrown around in social situations and papers.
P.S.: Quoting Fight Club as an original work of manliness seems strange, as it is pretty much just a practical, contemporary interpretation of Nietzsche's idea of the transitional human being between Mensch and Ubermensch (The kind of man that willfully throws himself away at the slightest chance of becoming something more, the man who fears nothing but stagnation).
>Americans pay money for this kind of education
My dad actually kinda looks like the 1,000 lbs man, just not as fat.
I have nothing to do with him.
What about twinks who still dress and act like men, but want to get fucked? Feels like that should mostly be applied to fems, which come in more shapes and sizes than just twinks or traps.
pursuit of happyness
>mfw people are becoming the opposite of this man
Pretty much everyone. he isn't alpha, he's a loud mouthed fucking idiot who had too much pride and that was ultimately the end of him. He had so many opporunities to stop, but he had nothing but resentment for his choices in his youth and it all culminated in the Finale
>Plus, his obsession wound up being his ultimate downfall
Just like Heisenberg, you mean?
At least Hank valued his family and shit. The only thing Heisenberg cared about was power.
>Not wanting to be responsible for your wife's brother's death means you value your family
Never mind that his business was clearly tearing his family apart yet he kept doing it even though he had all the money he would ever need
I'm not saying Walt is some to aspire to be. Hell pretty much the entire 5th season was about how Walt turned into a complete asshole. But to say Hank is much better because he wasn't in the exact same situation is flawed. Hell, even Hank used some of his power (when he became ASAC or whatever) by violating the law to satisfy his obsession.
Rewatched that Sunday night. I've been singing songs from it quite a bit since then.
>i lift for elsa
>Actually liking this piece of shit movie
You faggots are worse than Bronies.
Most movies with James Cagney. White Heat, Angels with Dirty Faces, The Roaring Twenties etc.
Bogart, of course. Lonely Place, Casablanca, African Queen, The Caine Mutiny, etc.
Steve McQueen, period.
Hamburger Hill, Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Sunset Boulevard, High Noon, Cool Hand Luke, The Quiet Man, The Big Heat, Shane, Stalag 17, i can continue for days.
Chosen mostly older blockbusters that has sadly fallen to obscurity by todays viewers. Mostly american as well, seeing as americans generally only watch american movies.
> ctrl f
> no watchmen
one of my favorite mainstream movies
Fear and loathing in las vegas is another personal favorite, but i guess /fit/ is the wrong place for that
Was gonna add a poster from the poster folder.
Shut the fuck up man, there are guys here who didn't have the benefit of having healthy father figures around them during important part of their lives, it doesn't hurt to look for different kinds of masculine role models to identify with...
Read Yukio Mishima. No idea how he isn't the God of Fit. Talented, strong as fuark, aesthetic, manly and super gay.
a WW2 pacific theatre film called "The thin red line" the general in that movie is a fucking MAN. Goes after what he wants, is brave, but isnt stand-offish and grumpy. Just says shit like it is. This is a manly fucking movie. Its also really deep/
>I'm sick of feminisation and pussyfication of men in today's world?
>in today's world
There are always cowardly people and strong people, people today are no more feminized than they've been before, that's rosy retrospection and a myth. It's just that now there's much more of a platform for weak people to show that they exist, they're on a level playing field in terms of exposure, whereas they used to have more difficulty. Doesn't mean they didn't exist back in the day.
>I've seen 300 as an example of how men should be or even could be
Please graduate from high school before posting here. Airbrushing and slow-motion camera work meant to appeal to a 15-year-old's sense of masculinity do not constitute fitness.
I did that same thing but I wasn't going to drive stick with a broken finger. Some kid drove me to the hospital. Fuck I hope I don't break a finger again, I lost all sorts of gains.
consuming "shows and movies" and building your identity around them is itself beta, pussy spectator behavior. It's like asking 'which factory-made cookies and pies will make me lean.' You're looking in the wrong place. The placid confidence of the man in your picture will never be achieved through entertainment industry bullshit. Real challenging activities and life experiences will teach you masculinity, consumer entertainment teaches you helplessness and beta spectator behavior
> Breaking Bad. Who's more Alpha than mother fucking Heisenburg?
Lots of people, he spent every episode up until the last hour lying to himself and being a simpering little pussy to try to convince his family he was something he wasn't. His most alpha moment is admitting he fucking liked it and did it for himself
I'm sorry, upon reflection it's obvious that people that watch tv and movies are john galt-like self made individuals. People of high achievement watch 'shows and movies' constantly because it helps them stay focused and level headed. And the entertainment industry is promoting solid masculine values, you just need to ask some meatheads on /fit/ which 'shows and movies' will make them alpha, and you're all set
Wanna be a man, learn from your father and other men who are men. A good portion of it comes from yourself and doing what you want. Don't look for fiction or historical adaptations to copy.
Glengarry Glen Ross
You want to be a man?
Then close you fucking faggot.
>I hate how guys seem to think that we're supposed to fight each other and act like cunts all the time. I think it's much healthier of an ideal to strive to be a good leader, a diplomat, a good friend, pragmatic and secure in oneself rather than being an overly aggressive brute.
See, to me it seems like here you're saying "This absolute is bad, do this opposite absolute instead." I can beat the shit out of a buddy one day, and be tweaking his squat form the next. As men, we need to strike a balance between violence and knowledge, learn when one is appropriate and when not, and with whom. But we're shifting too much to one side, either we are meatheads or intellectuals, the intersection on that ven diagram of men is so, so small.
You seem to think that I'd fold out of a fight if I needed to fight. I'm pragmatic. I solve problems. If I need to knock someone out to get them out of my house that's what needs to be done. If some idiot decides to jump me outside I'll fend him off and probably run, because it's a better solution.
The best movie is probably Conan '82. It's actually a brilliantly well-done film on all aspects and is very well-written and especially inspiring if you're a believer in pagan moralities or Nietzsche. It's ultra-American John Milius rewriting Thus Spoke Zarathustra to his own tastes.
Every time I see that book, I think of the hilariously bad "anti reviews" that some SJW cunts wrote on Amazon that J. Donovan HIMSELF responded to.
Yeah Serbian Film is garbage made by Croatians who are like sworn enemies and buttmad because serbs kicked their ass in battle non stop. It would be like watching a documentary about health and body fat percentage made by tumblr feminists.
Good for raw masculine attitudes, but ultimately tainted by the past and the total lack of emotion displayed by most of the characters. Being a man doesn't mean you have to bottle everything up until you snap.
Besides that, I agree.
Watch some James Bond, one of each main actor. I'd recommend Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Skyfall.
Valhalla Rising, for your viking fix.
Apocalypse Now. You'll understand when you see it.
>some good tv shows or movies
If you follow the vast majority of TV shows or movies blindly, you are a fucking sheep. There is very little in there that you can take away and apply to your life short of mimicry. Instead, why don't you read some books, actively think about how to be your own man, and what you're supposed to be doing? Sorry if I come across as a cunt, it just seems like a weak effort.
I'd say that the most important aspect of being a man comes in multiple parts.
>Understand the world around you
>Form an opinion of the world around you
>Strive to see whether or not it is right, or good
>Act to learn what is good and how to achieve it
Do that, and you're golden
To be the bridge between the Narrator and Tyler is to escape pussydom without giving up the pussy.
Anna and Elsa both get so many gains in that movie.
>yeah let's just beat the shit out of eachother for no reason
you're retarded. obviously violence is necessary sometimes, but for defense. unless of course you and your friends just like fighting, which of course makes you a retard.
Frozen teaches an important lesson that all of /fit/ should heed:
>tfwnogf is a mental trap.
>assuming you deserve love is a trap
>fantasizing about romance leads to bad things
>"want to lift together?"
what kind of sperg would create a strawman like that
if you want to be helpful you can say "hey man your form is fucked up, you're heading for snap city". if they want help correcting their form they'll ask you. if they don't that's their choice.
hijacking whats left of this thread to ask
do I have a shot or is this a neutral reaction
for reference she is in the bahamas right now and routinely favorites my drunk tweets that contain lyrics
>Gates of fire
That book is GOAT if you like books about war.
>tfw Xeones' life.
>tfw Dienekes' valiant death
you come across as kind of desperate anon, you should set the date instead of asking her. and make sure you sound busy when you do ask her
and leave it a couple of day
eg a couple days later
"I'm might be free tomorrow after 5, the rest of my week is jam packed you should come round then"
lel incoming butt hurt liberal betas.
BTW first time on Facebook in like 9 months. Went on to delete my account and this was the first thing I saw. Just extra ammo to keep me from ever going back.
Yeah, I did but had been drinking a few Gin and tonics so that was probably why I decided to say that shit in the first place. But still I knew most of them (old teachers from highschool) and they're all extreme liberal left wingers. I have liberal friends, but they don't go around preaching to everyone about it like these guys did.
>I'm sick of feminisation and pussyfication of men in today's world?
I'm sick of the way that "men" today bitch about how everyone is a pussy, then try to harden themselves up by sitting on their fucking ass and watching movies.
You want to be a man? Go work in the oil fields.
Stop using escapism, fantasy, and Hollywood images of "manliness" to bury your pathetic head in the sand.
Frozen is fantastic because it's the first Disney movie with a princess in it that's not a Disney Princess movie.
Generations of girls have grown into annoying, vapid, self-obsessed women thanks to Disney telling them over and over that all they have to do is sit on their ass and wait for their prince to come along. Talk about entitlement.
>Stop using escapism, fantasy, and Hollywood images of "manliness" to bury your pathetic head in the sand.
this fuckin guy
Funny you should mention Minot, because I was just getting details about my grandpa yesterday.
He was born in North Dakota to Ukrainian parents. His father took off, and he lived with his mother in Minot. There were five children. The mother didn't speak much, if any, English. They were hard times. He said that if you got a crust of bread, that it was a good day. The baby girl died of starvation, so protective services (may have been the Humane Society, back in the day) showed up and took the children away.
They were put into a group home for a couple of weeks, then split up and sent away on trains. This was common practice in the day. There's a book on the subject, and a Wikipedia article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orphan_Train.
He arrived in a small, nearby (relatively speaking, it was still a train ride away back then) town and taken in by an older couple in their 50s. They commented that he was "so small". All his life he thought that meant that they actually wanted an older boy who could work the farm. When my mother reviewed court documents, she discovered that they simply meant he was malnourished (see above regarding a crust of bread).
He made it through 8th grade. After that, you had to pay for high school. He attended a technical school and learned to weld. He moved out to Portland, Oregon in 1939 to work in the shipyards in the ramp-up of the war effort.
He was an excellent welder, and rose to foreman despite the prejudice against outsiders within the unionized local industry. He married a woman who worked under him (who went on to place #1 in a national welding competition).
He earned and saved his way into owning a small concrete company. He went on to become a home builder and was president of the Home Builder's Association. He was well-respected, admired by the community, and loved by his family and friends. He had four children and took in another child from an abusive home.
He was manly as fuck.
he was a beta for 50 fucking years. he made in the last two years of his life. he took control, he became alpha. he made niggas his bitch after they thought he was still beta.
say my name
how is that not alpha?
and he was dying from the get go you fucking stupid ass. he knew he was going to die a slow painful death with the cancer bullshit so he once again took actions into his own hands and deliberated his own death.
>i'm the one who knocks
>say my name
>tread with caution
These niggas are making it, right here.
Suggesting that men have been "feminized" implies that feminists have actually influenced or achieved anything of note or significance of their own efforts at any point in history. Which is clearly absurd. The problem is that men are increasingly being brought up to believe that the solutions to their problems lies in consuming more trash. Women have always been idiots consuming trash and basing their lives around Kim Kardashian, so from the outside looking in it looks as if it's women's influence at play.
You can't consume your way out of a consumer culture. I'm not saying that you can't enjoy a TV show from time to time, and if you don't read books to some degree you're always going to be infinitely pleb, but you need to remember that Walter White is no more real than the Grinch. A series of funny lines slapped together by a team of writers that are mainly Jewish guys who didn't get laid in high school. And then a dude reads them out into a camera. If you judge yourself against that, you're going to end up absurdly shallow, vain and petty. A woman. A woman staring at a box.
We have a society now that judges itself against and largely aspires to be entirely fictional creations, trying to live their life like a sub-par Woody Allen bit with half the gags taken out. And so the solution is to sit at home more, live even more vicariously through a box, maybe play some video games where you press 'A' to be successful and trick your brain into thinking you're accomplishing stuff.
You're a man. The world is yours. It's there. Go do something with it. They can't stop you. They can only try to distract you with their bullshit. Be free, son.
But to answer the OP anyway, watch the James Bond films. My favorites were the Sean Connery ones, although I haven't seen all of the James Bond movies. Skyfall was terrible, so you could skip that one even though its on Netflix.
Agreed. It's not that men are changing, but it's people are trying to change men.
I agree that there's nothing wrong with TV/Books, but if you want to learn to be a man, you have to be in the company of men and forge bonds that will last a lifetime
Except the synopsis of the movie is that Tyler was ultimately wrong. If you didn't get this, you are just like the rest of the 16 year old fanbase. (I should know, I was like that too when I first watched it as a teen.)
Just like the narrator, you need Tyler's ideas to break free from the bullshit of the modern life first, and only then you'll realize that Tyler's views are not the ultimate solution.
New here? We spend all of our time on here either hating women in general, hating fat women in particular or admiring each others bodies.
>feminisation and pussyfication of men
Funny how a /fit/izen would say that
If you NEED a girlfriend to feel happy, then you were born a pussy and will die a pussy.
If you NEED to conform to social norms, pack logic, or other's expectations of you just to feel comfortable in your own skin, then you were born a pussy and will die a pussy.
tl;dr: all the tfwnogf guys and autists on here are pussies who're to afraid to say "fuck what society thinks"
Can you feel a difference in gyno and regular fat around the male breast?
