As far as working out, 3 minute rounds with 30 second rest. Jump rope, shadowboxing, speed bag, heavy bag, mitt work are the staples of a boxing circuit.
It will get you fit as long as your diet is in check. High protein, low fat, no sugar, green veggies.

You can do both, but it won't be an aesthetic workout neither will it be a strength geared workout. You would have to focus on explosiveness and endurance. That means high reps and explosive lifts.
That's if you're serious about BJJ and want to use lifting to be better at it.
You could also just keep BJJ as a hobby and lift for aesthetics, lose some BJJ gains, but it's just a hobby, you would still be good at it, just not near professional level.

I'm not looking for some pseudoscience stuff like Eat This, Not That. I want researched textbooks. I have a master's in cellular biology and am working on my PhD. I'm not afraid of sitting through something arduous or learning from scratch.
