Started lifting a couple of months ago after turning 25 to make a change in my life. I'm happy that I'm changing my life for the better, instilling discipline in me and all that good jazz, but all it does is making me wish I started earlier and that I'd be seeing some real progress had I started at my early 20s and it makes me depressed and regretful at times that I wasted my early 20s like a dumb fuck.

I've been thinking about this for a while, really doesn't mean anything but want some people to weigh in. So historically people hold 1/2/3/4 as the plate equivalent of being "strong", or at least stronger than average, but most people who actually lift mock this standard for being too low.

I was thinking the other day, though, that this standard is a bit more balanced when considered with powerlifting plates. Bar is 25kgs (assuming collars) and reds are 25kgs. So normalized with a typical powerlifting setup, the standard would become:

OHP - 75kgs (165lbs)
Bench - 125kgs (275lbs)
Squat - 175kgs (385lbs)
Deadlift - 225kgs (496lbs)

Thoughts about a revised 1/2/3/4 standard?

look up a few videos on proper technique, you might've been swimming wrong this whole time, additionally if there is anyone who trains swimming at your local pool you can ask them for advice
work on your breathing, try doing 4 or even 6 strokes at a time before taking in your next breath, if you're a smoker, consider quitting
and obviously buy goggles and proper swimming shorts, you'll look like a tryhard faggot in them but it'll shave seconds off your time

Cut calories, run 3 miles every day, and lift one or two times a week (what im doing now)
OR
bulk, keep up the cardio because it's a commitment, and start lifting more?

What will produce better results? Use pictures as examples of what'll happen for each route I take
