Sleep is a topic that is often brushed over and handwaved; "yeah, yeah, I get enough sleep" but it is important for your health.

1.For a healthy sleep, you need 8-9hrs of it a day, in a completely dark room.
COMPLETELY DARK
no lights from your phone, computer, charger, the street, ect, NO LIGHT WHATSOEVER.
your eyes can sense any light in the room (even when closed) and this fucks up the melatonin released in your pineal gland, which controls your sleep cycle.
If you want a deeper and more refreshing sleep get rid of all those annoying lights. ALL OF THEM.

2. Electronics emit that blue light that keeps you up, so stop using them before bed. You should stop using all electronics an hour or so before you go to bed.

use this time to do something productive like, reading!?! or practicing an instrument, or meditating.
not to mention the excitement and interactivity of shiposting or playing some vidya isn't going to help you go to sleep, it'll keep you up longer.

3. Be consistent when you go to bed. If you wake up and go to sleep at different times every day it'll fuck up your sleep cycle, so pick a bedtime and stick to it

4. Temperature: you sleep best when it's cooler, around 65-70 F (18-21 C for eurocucks) so don't crank the heat in your room or use some bedwarmer shit.
If you live somewhere its always hot as fuck, get some fans and sleep naked, it'll help keep you cooler.

5. Never lay in your bed, except to sleep or fuck. You want to associate your bed with just those two things, so no reading, shiposting, or fucking around on your phone in your bed.

Do this and you'll sleep better

Both are good, squats are better. I used to lift a shitload on the leg press and do the stack on leg extensions. My legs were okay but when I switched over to having a home gym and now squats are the only leg exercise I do, my legs are significantly bigger and better looking and I never squat over 315 because of back issues.

Squats are tough and they wear you out because they work your entire body. With leg press you just sit there and push weight away from you with your legs. It's fine to skip squats because you don't like them, but you will get better results from squats.

So I was doing deadlifts and was feeling a slight strain on my lower back. A guy made a quick passing comment (because I'm skinny and it's obv I'm new to lifting) to not bend my back when im deadlifting or it'll fuck it up.
I know this, I just know he was basically telling me to keep my back straight.

Spend around half an hour trying to keep my back straight but still feel a strain on my lower back. I decrease weight several times.

Ask a member of staff to check if I'm keeping my back straight and he tells me I have a weak back and my body is compensating for it by (pic related)

He recommended to practice the deadlift motiopns whilst keeping my back straight and to strengthen those muscles.
Since I'm new to lifting he recommended machines and then told me i should contact him since he does PT.

I would but money isn't something that's available to me atm.

I also have a pronounced arch in my lower back, scapular wing thing and (i think a slight) tech neck.

My question is what stretches do I need to d and what back muscles should I be focusing on.

Any recommendations and any help.

I'm young and new to lifting so I do not want to strain my back or worst, get used to having bad form and cause a more serious injury with a heavy weight.

I was thinking about also working my back 4-6 days a week (in conjunction with other muscles but my back on all these days). I know that rest is important so what're your takes on this.

I'm a physical therapist and I can give you a general protocol for fixing your issue of daily stretching and light weight work to work muscles around the scapula

On mobile so ignore typos or shorthand (if I say strengthen scapula or something similar, I mean scapular muscles, obviously not the bone, etc)

I've noticed recently that if I'm in direct sunlight for longer than 20 mins, I get really jittery and nervous. Is this normal?
