Squats and deadlift would affect sprints more than medium/long distances. Bodybuilders, powerlifters and strongmen all have pretty good 100m runs actually and sprinters do lift weights.

5km runs are mostly about maintaining a good pace and not wasting energy and breathing. Having a strong lower body doesnt do shit for 5km and longer runs for that reason.

Hey guys. I got a real problem. Can anyone offer some insight on this, when I'm doing triceps isolation exercises like cable push down I find it really hard to activate the triceps on the last part of the exercise, but only in my right arm.

Help.

I am, and I've tried with all weights, but the thing is it's only in my right arm, my left arm feels like twice as strong

How do I stop checking myself in a mirror every chance I get? One day I like what I see, the next day I look skinnyfat and pale. I'm going mad about my body image even though I objectively have a good physique. Ffs I gained 45lbs of mostly muscle, why don't I feel good about it?

Because you feel you don't amount to anything. Actually try loving yourself , instead of reacting to every negative thing you do. Positive affirmations after 21 days become learned habits that can be implemented. Go to the gym and workout what you need to workout. Discipline yourself and your diet. Do what ever it takes to get yourself there. Don't worry about getting your goals, enjoy the process of the journey. The journey is the destination, man.

Yesterday was first day lifting. Ever.

I'm starting SS, I go to a small gym in my neighborhood owned by the same dude since the 80'. He got a state certification and has a long history of training people for martial arts. He said to me that he will not coach me if I don't ask but will give me advices and help me correct form if he sees something done wrong.

I explained to him the program I was starting. He seemed a little perplexed (he is more of a endurance/hypertrophy guy) but said that he will not tell me not to do it just because this is not what he would do.

He said to me that for the first 2-3 weeks I should run 3x10 with smaller weights instead of 3x5 with 'heavier' weights so I can learn form better and adapt gently.

So I did that because I'm not impatient.
After finishing I saw two things:

I'm fucking weak and I get nauseous and light headed when I squat.

OHP: Just the bar (10x20kg/45lbs)
Squat: 10x30kg/65lbs
Deadlift. 10x30kg/65lbs (I did not get the form right yet so I did not go heavier)

I'm 5' 11, 220 lbs btw (fatass).

If you got any advices/comments/recommandations I would be grateful. Especially for the ifeellikeimgonnadieaftersquatting

I'm going back tomorrow for day B. Very motivated despite the nausea and the weakness

Reminds me of my reaction when I started, except instead of nausea it was being massively out of breath.

The gym guy makes a good point. You would probably benefit from training with light weights to learn the form and get used to the volume.

Drink as much water as you need and rest as long as you need to complete the sets. Track how long you rest and see if you can rest less each workout.

Once you can do the higher volume and lighter weight with good form, begin your linear progression. Godspeed.

Let someone kick you in the balls three times a week
MxWxFxx repeat (Starting Balls)
Go easy in the beginning and work up, it will be linear progression so add a little force each time.
After a year or so (depends on the person) you can move on the intermediate programming (Texas Balls Method)
Heavy 5x5 on monday, go easy on wednesday and work up to a sickening ballcrushing set on friday.
Yes it will hurt for the first couple of years but you'll notice improvement.

Honestly, you probably started lifting to get girls (like me). Has getting a girlfriend capped your motivation to lift?

Over the last 2 years I've been on and off the gym so much, not many gains made apart from before going on holiday (holiday fresh pussy motivation). Now that I'm out of my virgin phase (body count of 12 in 2 years thanks to /fit/) and have a girlfriend, putting the effort in the gym day in and day out doesn't doesn't outweigh the shagging benefits I get (getting grills is easy and don't need to be /fit/ anymore) and therefore motivation is low af.

Now I understand why lifting for girls is a meme.

I do miss the gym and being fit, you guys have any advice for someone in my situation? Thanks in advance anons x

Got ottermode and found a gf shortly after that. I too had motivation problems for a bit but then I noticed that i am gaining fat and losing muscle which motivated me to go back to the gym.

That opened my eyes, and when I am losing motivation I look to the mirror and browse my old progress pics.

Still got a long way ahead of me, and I regret that I allowed myself to get this shape where I am now

Why are you not sprinting for cardio /fit?

Second I eat right and work out and enjoy cardio by doing things I like. Like judo and rugby.

How does /fit/ feel about this? No, I don't mean the crap in cans or plastic bottles, with HFCS and god knows what else. I'm talking mexicoke and similiar drinks in glass bottles. It has a lot of sugar, but aside from that, 1 or two a week should hurt too much, right?

You, my man, have great taste. I keep a few stockpiled in my Nuka Cola mini fridge for when it's time to kick off my weekend. Can't stand the flavor of canned coke or plastic bottled coke, it's just not the same.

And yeah, you're pretty much dead on. Just make sure you never drink more than one over your daily caloric limit and you'll lose weight perfectly fine. Calories in calories out.

I'm 6'3" and weigh about 220lbs. I rarely eat junk food (maybe every month or so if I even decide to.) I've started working out. Strength training is what I'm doing. Also, I don't do drugs. As for my diet, I try to eat foods like baked chicken and fish, with plenty of greens like Kale and Broccoli. I know a little about nutrition and I do not drink my calories. I've consistently remained the same weight for a long time now. I don't gain anything thing, but I haven't lost any weight (this is before I started to improve myself through physical fitness.) Yes I've read the sticky.

Can anyone explain me how the fuck powerlifters suck at benching? I constantly see guys at 225lb body weight squatting more than 4pl8s but they can't even budge 240lbs on the bench. How is that even possible?

Bar genetic freaks, bench is the hardest lift to progress on (relatively speaking).
It's also the one will a lower maximum potential (by far), so since powerlifters are ranked by total it completely makes sense to prioritize a high squat and deadlift, than a higher bench.
