Honestly, look at the macros of meat and unless it;s lean you're gonna see like 21g fat and 12g protein per serving, whereas beans could have 3g fat and 16g protein per serving. I still eat tofu every now and then (challenging to get it just right). There are plenty of protein powders that use pea and grain isolates like Vega, which you can get for cheap at Walmart. Discounting meat, there's still an expansive variety of foods and cuisine. The Anglo-Saxon diet is shit for it, so I prefer the Pacific Asian, South Asian, and Hispanic diets. Just don't fall into the Whole Foods meme

MENTAL HEALTH QUESTIONS thread

So I have noticed that I go through periods of extreme optimism followed by periods of hopelessness as if my life is going no where even though it's moving in the right direction.

I don't know if this is anxiety or not but.......

I just cut off my mother and possibly my entire family. Long story short: my mother has leeched off on me my entire life and I had given her too much money and sacrificed my life and future in the process. I was super depressed for years and my weight ballooned within the last 3 years. I posted here once about this and now I am trying my best to move on. I weigh 70kg or 155lbs currently and I am 163cm or 5"4 tall. I figure I need to lose around 20kg or 44lbs to be back to my desired weight. I havent weighed that less since 2012 and I am aiming to get back to that.

I have went to the doctor to see if there could be anything done with my knee and I was recommended to undergo physiotherapy for it. My hormones are also fucked so I'm going to a doctor next week. Those things aside, I jogged/walked 8km the other day with my dog and it took an hour and a half for me to complete. My legs were sore for almost 2 days but I dont regret it.

How do you guys keep yourselves motivated? What do you do to stop yourself from stress eating or comfort eating? How do you stick to your plans?

Sorry for the long wall of text but I needed to let these feelings out.

Downloaded Agressive Fat Loss 2.0 a while back but never read it. I saw you skip breakfast and eat just lunch and dinner. I'm trying to cut but don't want to waste my time if I'm gonna gain it all back. Has anyone tried this program or Kinobody in general?

if youre starting out, id recommend skipping breakfast first (given you wake up around 7-8:30 am) and eat your first meal around lunchish. so maybe 12-2. once you can do that, shoot towards fasting until your dinner. helps with fat loss greatly, in a safe way. i drink coffee in the morning to get me through the day but technically your liver still processes the coffee and caffeine. if you want a true fast only drink water. it might seem hard to do, but once you get past the early hunger pangs, they wear off and you start to feel the mental clarity and just a feeling of satisfaction. but make sure the meal you eat coming off the fast has sufficient macros, make sure to eat veggies and cut the sugar. once you become a pro with this, you can move to a 24 hour fast once a week.

hello everyone, I am a firm believer in holistic medicine and the power of yoga and it is my personal belief that one can attain strength and health through these two things

my son, however, does not think similarly. he is on a work-out program called "starting lifts" that is extremely dangerous: they use a barbell with very heavy weights and then do excercises that can destroy the back and knees (for example, one he calls the deathlift)

well, I am unable to convince him to stop this crazy program. my problem is I caught him taking the steroid "creatine" yesterday after his work-out. I snatched the container away from him and told his father later that evening, who agreed with me that we had to stage an intervention. I honestly do not know what I should do next. does he have to be sent to a rehabilitation center? I am not familiar with steroids and how abusers make recovery.

He is very big and muscular, the picture linked is one from a recent family holiday, how long do you experts think he has been on this drug?

Had some neck spasms last week. Pretty tight at my neck.

Yeah it does.
Traps attach to your neck and there is alot of smaller muscles that attach from your scapula to your neck which are also involved in traps movements.
So i wouldnt do any deadlifts or rows. You can try pull ups. also pressing overhead can aggravate it but pulling is a no no

Had a similar thing last week op, Luckily it only lasted 24 hours though. I'm fairly old and notice I get minor gainz gobbling injuries fairly regularly although rarely when actually lifting. All my injuries are work related or from everyday stuff. I pinched a nerve or sprained a muscle getting off the floor after helping my old man out yesterday and I couldn't walk this morning, I think my training is out the window for the rest of the week.
Does anyone else take pain meds and bust through their routine or just wait for it to heal? Ive been taking co-codamol + Ibuprofen and can function now, hoping I'm going to be well enough tomorrow.
