>with MFP, I should have lost at least 40lbs

I assumed at first it must have been my diet, then dropped my calories even further (to 1200) with no effect. I don't see where else I can lower my calories as my deficit (or at least my calc of my deficit) is already larger than it should be.

I don't know whether to approach my doctor because it seems like bullshit and I dont want to seem like im searching for an excuse, as I love my new lifestyle. My thyroid is perfect as I've had it checked several times for unrelated reasons.

I know the most common answers are "eat less, track more specifically, move more" but I feel as though I'm doing everything right and still failing miserably.

The only time I lost weight was doing keto and that happened over two weeks. Could it be that my body just responds better to a low carb diet?

I would really appreciate some guidance on this. I wanted to really commit before getting frustrated about not seeing a difference as I know it's a long process (didn't gain the weight in 5 months!) but I reckon I should have had more results by now.

Also, by aggressively cutting for such a long period of time, you have slowed down your metabolism

you played yourself, son. Only cut 300 calories FROM DIET, and maybe 200-300 from exercise. I'm sure you've plateaued

Are genetics the most important thing in lifting?

Literally everyone I know who looks aesthetic looked good when they were young. I have never seen someone who is skinnyfat actually make it.

I am willing to bet that your average meal in prison is around 1500 to 1700 calories and a decent amount of people don't eat the food because its shit. they don't feed them that much, and it's loaded as fuck with carbs. they get one "protein" meal choice, which is usually something pathetic like a hotdog, small chicken breast, or hamburger. each meal is more around 800 calories each

why do prisoners get swole? the answer is they don't. at best, they build a little muscle while in or maintain what they had before they went in. they simply do not get enough protein to really pack on the muscle. why the fuck would we give them what they need to overpower us?
when you got 10 years and the only things to do are read, eat, and workout, you can get a decent body

also lmao at that " people don't eat the food because its shit" thing. the moment another inmate sees you don't eat your food is the day you just lost half your daily calorie intake to your new bully. they scarf all that shit down no matter how bad just to keep what is theirs. it's like dogs, they will eat all the kibbles in sight just so the other dogs don't any kibbles that could potentially be theirs
