If hypertrophy is 8-12 reps why do routines recommend only low numbers of certain exercises like squaring and bench press? and 6-8 of just other exercises. How many reps for most muscle gain, and how many for strength. Pls help
22 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
People typically do low reps (around 5) on compound movements, because it's easier to build strength that way, and do higher reps on accessory exercises such as curls because the goal there is to build muscle. You can still do high reps on compounds if you want. It depends on your goals, some people just want to lift heavy weights, some people want aesthetics.

Thanks for the response friend. So can I do 10 reps on every exercise and make most mucle?
>>
>>42005048
you should follow a proper program that works. If you just go to the gym and do random exercises you're probably not going to make much progress. Look up some workout routines and pick one.

Alright /fit/izens, I think we can all agree that the face is just as important, if not more important then the body.

And I think we can all agree that apart from obesity, acne is the number 1 thing that can make your face look like complete shit. So, how do you bros keep your face acne free? I recently started taking anti-biotics prescribed to me by my doctor, and benzyol peroxide. I guess I'm seeing SOME results, but I probably have to give it more time.

Also, do any of you bros exfoliate? How has it worked out for you?

I need help /fit/

As you can see, my body looks crooked as fuck, and I have no idea why. I started lifting 6 months ago, before that I was a neet shut-in who never did shit. As I progressed I started paying more attention to my body and I noticed I was super unsymmetrical.

At first I thought I had a depressed shoulder so I did stretches and exercises for that, didnt help. Then I thought I had a lateral pelvic tilt so I did stretches and exercises for that, didnt help.

So now Im at a loss, I desperately want to fix this shit, I might aswell stop lifting if I cant because Ill never look aesthetic.

If I've learned one thing from working out it is don't talk about working out.
20 posts and 3 images submitted.

>>42004615
Why is that?
>>
>>42004615
Pretty true, I never talk about lifting or anything and people just think I'm a god with good genetics and doesn't spend all his time in the gym. It looks like you aren't trying to hard to be someone you're not.

>people asking more and more
>even people who dont know i was skelly
>still continue lying
>short sleeve weather comes around
>getting asked how come im so strong, getting compliments on my physique, asked if i do sports
>girls miring my arms wanting to touch them
>still tell them i dont work out
>"you are so full of shit"
>"i just work around the yard a bit"
>"so what you were born like that"
>"i guess"
>literally flex a cep as a joke
>they mire and compare their arms to mine

Only my girlfriend knows i lift. I mean others know too, but i refuse to admit it.
Admiting you gymcel is social suicide, because it always makes people think youre compensating for something.
Me being 6'3 and good looking got nothing to compensate for, but i still refuse to admit i go to the gym because i find lifting "culture" and everything that goes with it absolutely retarded and i dont want to be connected to it in the least.

I tell you the truth:
You lift to improve how people perceive you.

Perception is reality. How people perceive you in the first 10 minutes of meeting you will dictate your life and success. An impressive physique influences the hindbrain, meaning people develop positive connotations about you before thier forebrain processes your likeness.
You need to be a master of influencing positive feelings about your value. On some level, you know this (hence your obsession with height), but your delusion damage may be keeping you from a full commitment to the art of value persuasion.

Let me ask you:
• Do you have a great body?
• Are your hobbies interesting?
• Is your living space clean and impressive?
• Do you have elite social skills? How own do you practice? Can you talk to anyone?
• How quality is your social circle? Do you have the ability to shape your own?
• Is your job one of status? Can you sell your skills to employers/investors?

I don't need to tell you about how to feel regarding you answers to the above questions. Instinctively, you know.

I'm giving you the red pill here. High value perception is the lubricant that will make your life smooth and full of happiness. Getting the most out of life requires you working your ass off while making it seem effortless.

You cannot prove me wrong.

It's never too late. I didn't start lifting until I was 25. Time only moves one direction: forward. So what do you want to be in one year

I'm torn on which I should do. I've done a year's worth of boxing however the sparring will now increase for me and I have to consider my brain health. I take my academic studies as seriously as my fitness and I would like to be a pioneer in my field some day with some original ideas and I'm scared that if I box it might stop me from being able to do this. On the other hand, if I did know how to box I would be able to defend my gf when she gets slapped on the ass or defend my family if the time came. The other option is bodybuilding which I have already done in the past. My brain would be healthy however there would always be the lingering thought of possibly getting into a fight some day which my big muscles might not be able to stop. Aesthetically I would look better than a boxer though. I'm torn on the two. What should I choose?

box and do some easy aesthetics oriented lifting on the side
>>
Boxing brain damage is only considerable if you plan on making it a carreer or you are on heavy weight category

>the sparring will now increase for me
If you are paying for you tell them how often you plan on fighting/sparring or not
>>
>>42004507
You shouldn't be sparring hard in your boxing classes anyway. You should be developing your head movement, footwork and technique for the first few years while developing your power on the heavy bag separately.

There's absolutely no reason for you to be swangin' and bangin' when sparring with a partner, it doesn't help either of you and you'll end up eating a haymaker off an awkward angle and it could damage you.

You're there primarily to workout, not to simulate being Tyson for an hour. Leave your ego at the door or fuck off home.

If you spar 3 days a week (with cardio workouts on those days obviously as well) for example - You can put in place a good strength programme for the remaining 3 days (PUSH PULL LEGS) and keep a day of rest for recovery.

What do I do now? Been eating healthy, tapered down my intake, and walking as much as a I can daily.

Going to try and renegotiate my profile for activity, but without the ability to lift or run I'm bummed. I'm supposed to be fully recovered by September, but I don't want to lose all my progress because of this.

I understand the scenario is rooted in me having been a fat fuck before, but I just wanted to make myself better and got caught up in this shit.

What about running, that's the area I was most worried on. I already had a right quadricep strain set me back this year and I saw it eat almost a minute off my 2 mile time.

Is there any way to maintain a run time without the ability to run or jog? I'm gonna try and see if my physician will let me do elliptical bikes soon.
