Crossfit is the best exercise routine for functional strength currently available! Cardio alone only builds endurance and weightlifting only builds mass - both alone do not teach your body to adapt to real life situations. Crossfit combines both into something that you can actually use in real life and enjoy! Make sure to take your time learning and pay for a few sessions with a good PT before you try the more advanced crossfit exercises you may see on tv. (Don't start with weighted barbell tosses or ball squats!)

Hey guys,

I lift since one year (5-6 times a week usually) and made pretty good progress on strength and size, but my routine don't suit me anymore (kinda bored of the routine I'm currently on) and I want to try something new.
My current routine is strong lift with accessory bodybuilding exercise 4 times a week (every 2 days) and 1 or 2 days of cardio.

I want to try something new, and want a strong physique ( take the picture for exemple) : big shoulder/traps/upper pec, strong core, and legs that goes along with the upper body (not disproportionate).

I was thinking to Squat 2 times per week, deadlift once a week, but don't know what to do with the bench/OHP programming, and the bodybuilding aspect of the training.
In fact, I want to keep a bodybuilding aspect in my training, not really do isolation exercises, but I love doing arms/shoulders/back exercices like curl, CGBP, Pullups, lateral shoulder raises, etc...

I can go to the gym everyday, I love doing that, and I love doing cardio to keep my body lean.

So if you can suggest me some routines, it will be great!

I accidentally starved myself a bit today because I chose the wrong rice crispies on cronometer and somehow those ones have like 800 more calories than regular rice crispies. I was shocked it had so many calories but didn't think too much about it and just assumed I was a fat ass because I was still hungry. Then I looked on the box and it only has 130 calories per serving. lol oops. Ate under 1000 calories.

Just recently purchased an adjustable kettlebell and cancelled my gym membership. I did a few beginners exercises with it and found it wore me out a lot more than barbells and dumbbells. Has anyone made any significant gains with these things? Any exercises you recommend with them?

If you get gains from kettles, great, but they have a limited range of motion compared to barbells. I've read SS and do not recall it suggesting kettles.

Kettlebell swings are a great tool, snatches are cool/fun too, and goblet squats are good for beginners or a warmup, but they're not the end all, be all of strength training.

Great for conditioning, warming up and good for cardio if it's low weight. They train the whole body so from all the meme alternative equipment sold out there it's the best thing there is.

Only problem with this kind of lifting is if you are really strong or have potential to be really strong at everything but one movement pattern. It makes it difficult to work on your weakness because you're only training 1-2 lifts per week when half or all of those lifts are occupied by a movement pattern you're, say, genetically weak in, your overall gains will suffer when focusing on that movement pattern.

For an example, say you had a massive back squat, hack, squat, jefferson squat, trap bar squat, any deadlift, any floor pull or squat but you had no chest strength to speak of, tiny wrists, long ass arms and very little genetic potential to build a big upper.

So this week you're doing your two movements, bw dips and not even 2plate bench. Well...you're not getting much out of this compared to your lower days when you're squatting and deadlifting 600+ lbs.

My point is this routine works better when your potential is welll rounded and you can build a strong upper and lower but not everyone can and thus you miss out a lot by spending so much time working a proportionately weak body part when another routine would have you doing much more work on those days.

I would agree otherwise focusing on one movement will bring it up fastest specificity rules but not everyone has potential to be well rounded and this training fails then.

Hey /fit/. This is my pre workout meal. Sometimes I swap a tbsp and a half of peanit butter for a tbsp of honey and or add a banana. Is normal pb such as skippy and jif good enough or should I go for homemade or a fit approved brand?

What the hell is the deal with Tactical Barbell? I see some people treat it with some cult-like reverence. A friend lent me the books, and while there's nothing wrong with them, nothing strikes me as particularly revolutionary.
