TL;DR Should I buy a belt and wrist straps or wait?

I just started doing SS two days ago. I have a base of about 2 months of base strength, but a lot of it has been on machines. This is because I live in Brazil (I'm american), where part of gym employees' jobs is to design workouts for trainees. They are fucking busy-bodies. Nice people. But busy-bodies. I was doing power cleans and my personal trainer who had me doing machine bicep curls was hovering around me.

My gym is very much geared toward older people with money and women who pay $60 a month to use the fucking treadmills, when there is a beautiful two-mile waterfront boardwalk across the street.

ANYWAY I am now teaching myself proper from for Starting Strength and after just one day, I already love it more than anything I was doing before.

On my first day I was squatting 50kg (110lb), benching 50kg and power cleaning 50 as well.

Should I be using a belt and wrist straps or any other equipment? If it would help me with my form, I would definitely use it. Is there any other equipment I should use?

The stuff isn't very expensive. But also I don't want to look like a jackass using a bunch of equipment if I don't need it.

If it's important, I'm 6'4" (193 cm) 93kg (205 lb) and I consider myself skinnyfat.


Any other tips for me?

I squat 100kg without a belt.

And deadlift 140kg without straps.

Stronglifts is better than SS imo, but powercleans are great too.

Is SS enough to make size gains or not? SS is good for me because I want to be thicc, but I read that there's not enough volume.

reminder that if you drink protein shakes especially post workout shakes you are a faggot and you know it

the only thing you need to do after a workout is hydrate with water and maybe eat a meal. plus if youre eating right youre likely getting enough protein already

My free time consists of procrastinating over dedicating all my time to some other heirarchy I can feel bad about (i.e., programming).

And you know what really runs it in? The normies who get jobs easily due to normieness and poshness. The women with lives on easy mode and sugar daddies and bfs handing everything to them while society uses me as a disposable battery and deluges me with propaganda. The thousands of teens on the internet getting rich for wacky reasons (apps, crypto, exporting marmite to Tajikistan) while I stick my nose in to SICP- a nerd too scared to go off the beaten path, cowed by the masses while at its bottom rung.

I just finished 6 months of SS and would like to try a different program. PHUL combines power and hypertrophy, so it sounds like a good option. I will be doing it on a bulk, so I hope to build some muscle as well.

Not bad, but not really great either. The general outline is right, the specifics are all over the place. If you want an actually good "power/hypertrophy upper/lower" split, Texas method 4 day split and Candito's linear program are better in every way

I think i'm actually going fucking crazy. I haven't had a night where I get over 5 hours sleep in like a month. I'm spending my whole day crying and I have anxious thoughts literally every moment of the day.

How do I make it out of this? I'm seriously one bad panic attack away from getting myself institutionalized. Will they even be able to fix it?

What drugs can I take to make me feel normal?

I had sort of a similar experience one time. Had a huge panic attack when i was really stoned one night, the whole next day was basically one big panic attack too. It slowly faded after a few days tho so idk man id just say you gotta wait it out. Also eat right and lift weights but thats a given, right?
