Anyone have a home gym?
Moving in a month,
Should I get a home gym?
The thought of me lifting in private with my own music sounds nice.
How much should I be looking at? All I really need is a squat rack and bench for the barbell lifts. Also, a pullup and dip bar. How much are plates?
>Anyone have a home gym?
I've had 2. One with a full size power rack and now the one in pic related which is a half rack
>Moving in a month,
Find out if you're gonna beable to train inside your home or outside. If inside then maybe invest in bumper plates. Up to you and how heavy you lift.
>Should I get a home gym?
Yes you will save so much money and the price of a good set up is usually less than 2 years gym membership at most gyms.
>The thought of me lifting in private with my own music sounds nice.
It is nice and once you do it you will feel spoiled and hate going to a regular gym again and sharing equipment
>How much should I be looking at? All I really need is a squat rack and bench for the barbell lifts. Also, a pullup and dip bar. How much are plates?
I paid $200 for my half rack in pic related ($300 for old my full rack), $200 for the 300lb olympic weight set at DicksSportingGoods, $100 for the incline bench, $15 for the padding, $35 each for the adjustable olympic dumbbells (only 1 is shown in the photo).
When I first started all I had was a full size rack, olympic weight set and a bench. It's all I needed. All the extras I have now have been added over the years. This is an investment. Don't drop $1000 on a full size home gym. Start small with the basics and over time add to it like I have.
Everything I bought was basically brand new because I lived (at the time) in Kentucky and no one had equipment. Now I live in Chicago and I could buy everything in my pic for half the price I paid brand new used on craigslist. So if you live in a bigger city look into getting most of this equipment used.
So what the correlation of success and excercise? Also does lifting inhibits ot develops cognitive thinking and growth?
Pic unrelated.
>>42294635
Success in what?
>>42294635
How the fuck would lifting inhibit cognitive growth?
If you can describe a causal physiological relationship between lifting and decreased learning or IQ I will eat my own shit.

Ugh explain the dumb gym bro archetype.
Why do people take Alan Thrall seriously? I was close following his dirty bulk diet when I was doing a strength program but realised that the consequences would be irreversible. When will someone call him out?
>still live w parents
>work a very physically active job but not well paid

>drop 160lbs
>family starts to skinny shaming me
>they never have given 2 fucks about when I was over 350lbs
>I just have a "normal" body for normies standards

>barely normal
>they keep shaming

>gives you a quick whole-body pump
>wakes me up properly
>feels like it improves grip strength a little, but not as much as eg cable rows
>gives my hands dem calluses, bitches love calluses
>>42294325
Unless you want to look like an autist or you have the space to do it, go for another grip exercise.

Why did the dinosaurs evolv to become low test birds?
Are humans going in the same direction?
>>42293979
Evolution doesnt really apply to humans anymore, as we removed dangers which would let some people with certain genes to reproduce more often.
>>42293979
Pic related is not a dinosaur,it's a flying reptile.
>>42293979
oxygen levels are significantly lower meaning that animals had to adapt to this lower concentration of oxygen to allow individual cells to survive. Birds now have lungs and 2 air sacs to increase O2 consumption in both inhalation and exhalation. More oxygen availability throughout the day and night would lead to easier production of ATP allowing more work to be done so this allows for larger cells.
Thats why you also see insects to be giant in prehistoric films or cartoons
Do you ever feel nervous when asking your trainer to renew your 4chan /fit/ pass ever month.

When i'm not working a job now in the summer I usually just play vidya all day, but I have a 30 min -1 hours jog everyday. Also 15x3 pushups. Diet is mostly bread with different toppings. My weight atm is 81kg, and the ideal weight is around 76kg. Is this sustainable? Or would it be better to just move around all day? Anyone got any tips or maybe I should changeup my routines? Because I got the time now before university start to do stuff
No do 100 a day
>>42293910
>Diet is mostly bread with different toppings.
Never gonna lose an ounce eating that shit.
I would recommend squats and oats.
Cut out the bread, join a gym and do pic related

Help /fit/,
i looked to the site while doing a 45kg deadlift and since then I have some backpain. The pain is not very strong but it remained the whole week and I did not squat or deadlift since.
Should I see a doctor?
>>42293601
You might as well just say your torso hurts, gj being vague
>>42293601
It all depends on the severity of the pain. Could be a muscle strain which you're kind of hoping for. If it has been persisting over a week and you can't work because of it then yeah go to a doctor
T. Anon medic
99.9% of injuries while deadlifting are very minor. Take ibuprofen and continue to lift. You will KNOW if you injured yourself seriously and you wouldn't be asking 4chan if you're OK. Record your last warm ups and all work sets to determine what you're possibly doing wrong. If you can't figure out whats causing the discomfort, then post your form vid on the SS coaches forum. They'll sort you out quickly. Also helps to watch the form vids of others and read their comments.
Can chronic alcohol use/abuse lead to increased levels of Potassium in the blood?
I drink frequently and recently when I've been lifting heavy, ~80% and up of my 1RM for an exercise, I've been getting a nasty headache right after the set that persists for about half the workout.
exertion headache. also stop drinking you fucking degenerate
>>42293458
>Can chronic alcohol use/abuse lead to increased levels of Potassium in the blood?
It can lead to being a clumsy cunt and dropping weights on yourself which should be enough of a reason.
>>42293458
Brah believe me, the last thing you want is low potassium levels. Getting an IV with that shit feels like fire is being pumped directly into your veins.
